@Tasha1607 thst sounds horrendous. I hope the sickness passes soon, hopefully in the next week or two. I can imagine how scary it is to be out and about but if you are driving in then I think that's massively reducing the risks of transmition.

Our scan is booked for Wednesday morning, which I'm getting excited about. We just refreshed our memories from our new ready steady baby book. We found out with our first as well, mostly because the sonographer knew so I wanted to as well.

Do you not have a bath at home or are you worried about the temp?

I can't even stomach the thought of news foods. We got a gousto delivered last week and my wife had to eat it all as I couldn't face any of it which is silly.

Tasha1607 · 05/10/2020 21:15

@LifeIsBusy oh wow that's amazing!

Yeah I like baths hot hot hot.. . I only have baths when stressed - (I prefer a shower) just realised how that sounded. Lol...

Well I've managed to eat something and it has stayed down but I've got a feeling it may not stay there for much longer.

I suppose it's got to be hard when they say they know the sex and it's there in front of you and you could just find out. I'm sure our minds with Change a lot.

What sort of foods can you eat at the moment? My diet is absolutely horrendous but I only eat what I can. Which isn't healthy.

LifeIsBusy · 06/10/2020 08:19

@Tasha1607 I'm mainly trying to eat the comfort foods that I know I love; fajitas, lasagna, spag ball, pizza, thai/indian curry, home made Chinese. As long as I know what it tastes like then I can eat it.

What are you eating at the minute? This phase will end and you will get a lot of your regular diet back with a few exceptions. I remember eating better through the second trimester and then struggling with bigger portions in the 3rd because I was the size of a house (that and the distance between the table and my mouth increased and most of the food ended up down my top)

I understand you on the bath thing, I also prefer a shower or a really hot bath so shower it is. You could try listening to Ludovico Einaudi to relax?

Tasha1607 · 06/10/2020 08:42

@LifeIsBusy I have been recommended that also. Thank you. I may give it a go.

I am so jealous. I can eat meat. I've been off meat since week 5. I've had to bowls of spaghetti bowl and last night I have a breaded chicken breast. But apart from that I'm literally on noodles and pasta.

I'm feeling a lot better today. So fingers crossed it was just a bad day. Yesterday. I bet you and your partner are mega excited for tomorrow!!!

LifeIsBusy · 06/10/2020 09:08

@Tasha1607 Oh god that does sound like a bland diet you've got going on though. All the books, apps and everything you read online does state it gets better soon as the HCG levels start dropping. What are you missing most?

You should definitely have a listen and you'll probably find you recognize some of the music as its quite commonly played on the BBC.

I'm honestly trying not to think about it as it still feels so far away but I am quite excited. Perhaps it will remind me that there is a baby on the way.

Have you started maternity shopping yet? I went into New Look to get a couple of things but they removed their maternity section since having DS. Soo annoying!

Tasha1607 · 06/10/2020 09:18

@LifeIsBusy yes very bland. The sweet tooth is bad too. Anything chocolatey I am on it! I'm missing vegetables and fruit. My wife my me a chicken dinner two weeks ago. I didn't like the chicken after a bite so just ate the potatoes and veg. My absolute favourite and well it came straight back up not even 5 minutes later.

I bet. We are struggling to sleep. We are excited and scared and happy and worried all at the same time.

I did go out the other week cause I need work stuff cause I don't fit into my work gear. And yep they had taken the maternity clothes away. We have seen so many things we want to buy. I think after Thursday we might start buying more things.

LifeIsBusy · 06/10/2020 10:10

@Tasha1607 I still have some stuff from my previous pregnancy but the jeans I had never fit properly and I'm constantly trying to hike them up so i'm hoping to get a better pair of fitted jeans so I was rather annoyed when I arrived and couldn't get anything.

I don't think you need to worry too much as the majority of scans are totally normal and its only a really small percentage that isn't. It just makes you think its more common as on forums like this its overrepresented as people aren't about to start a thread about having epic 12 and 20 week scans.

Thats soo upsetting about the roast chicken! I can't stand any meat with a bone in it on my plate so I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago.

Have you lost the urge to wee all night yet?

Tasha1607 · 06/10/2020 10:20

@LifeIsBusy ah that's cool. I know I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go and buy some more stuff. Jeans are too tight. And my trackie bottoms are too tight. I'm more gutted about my football shirt. Doesn't fit already. The wife is buying me another one to last the rest of the season!

I know. It's just this morning sickness I know that it's suppose to come and go and it's actually a good sign but I can't seem to keep anything down. I'm worried I'm harming the foetus now. The doctor said to leave it a couple more hours if I'm still the way I am then I need to call back.

I'm too stubborn to get up and see through the night. But I'm dancing in the morning running round to get to it. Luckily we have 3 toilets otherwise there could've been a problem.

Has there been any differences between this pregnancy and the last?

LifeIsBusy · 06/10/2020 10:44

@Tasha1607 I literally can't fit into any of my regular clothing so i'm rather jealous that your stuff is just tight. I put my jeans on the other day (my bigger pair) and I was at least 2-3 inches off getting the buttons close together. My midwife did say that with a 2nd pregnancy you just pot right out at the start but this is a joke.

If you can't keep anything down at all then I would suggest calling back the Dr as they might be able to give you something to help. It is a good sign that babs is stealing everything but you still need fuel to live on.

I don't think I had any option on the midnight weeing, I kept waking up at 2-3am and couldn't get back to sleep unless I got up. Thats not extended out to 5-6am but it often means I stir DS and the dog which is annoying.

My last pregnancy I couldn't stop eating, I literally ate all the time which is different. The headaches didn't exist in the last either. I definitely think i've felt worse this time round as I really struggled a couple of weeks ago to stay awake all day. Going forward though - i'm hoping for no additional stretch marks as last time I grew quickly and just ended up looking like a tiger which was really itchy but who knows what the rest of it will bring.

Are you excited to feel the kicks? Thats the only thing I'm missing from being pregnant last time as DS used to spend his day flipping around which was really cool to watch.

LifeIsBusy · 07/10/2020 13:51

@Tasha1607 Good luck for tomorrow! Everything was grand this morning and date confirmed as 19th April.

Tasha1607 · 07/10/2020 14:43

@LifeIsBusy sorry for the late reply. I've literally just been sleeping. I'm so tired. The doctors have put me on anti sickness tablets and they seem to be working! Yay!

That's amazing news! Has it sunk in a bit more after today?

LifeIsBusy · 08/10/2020 08:46

@Tasha1607 Its baby viewing day :), enjoy! Thats amazing regarding the sickness tablets!! How are you feeling this morning? Are you managing to keep food down?

Its still not sinking in so i'm still living in dream land.

Tasha1607 · 09/10/2020 09:29

@LifeIsBusy everything is all good with bubs! We were both mesmerised but it all. Took ages to get a good pictures as bubs was upside down to start with and had to do some questionable movements to get them the right way up so they could get measurements.

The tablets are working a dream. Apart from last night where I think I ate too much lol. I've kept food in which is amazing.

How are you and bubs doing??

I think I'm with you there. It's all so surreal.

BananaHammock23 · 09/10/2020 18:02

Congrats @Tasha1607 - that's so exciting. Hopefully you can relax now you've had the scan and your sickness has died down a bit!

Tasha1607 · 10/10/2020 12:15

@BananaHammock23 Thank you so much!

How are things going with you?

LifeIsBusy · 10/10/2020 13:13

@Tasha1607 Fantastic news all round then! Just stay off the all night buffet and you'll be grand.

Both doing fine although there appears to be an issue with my wrist which I'm hoping isn't pregnancy related because if it is then we've got a long way to go before it will fix itself. Feeling OK though, getting fat gracefully.

Did you opt in for any of the additional screening?

Tasha1607 · 10/10/2020 15:01

@LifeIsBusy yes I did all the screenings. Did you???

Oh no! I hope it isn't anything to serious with your wrist! Yes I seem to have popped today! The wife is amazed on how big the belly is getting now!

LifeIsBusy · 10/10/2020 19:42

@Tasha1607 we did opt for the additional screening, may as well as its only a blood test and a measurement of the neck.

Hopefully it's just a combination of a wrist injury at Xmas combined with what ever hormone that relaxes your muscles. I had issues for a while in my last pregnancy where I couldn't hold a pen or write for a while but that was much later on.

Did you get your due date confirmed as the 19th? Have you purchased any leggins yet? I'm looking for a decent thick pair.

BananaHammock23 · 11/10/2020 09:57

We're just ticking along @Tasha1607 - waiting patiently for my period for us to start IVF, but won't be for another 3-4 weeks I reckon. It's hard to predict as I was stimulated two cycles in a row so not expecting normal service to resume!

We're friends with two other same sex couples who are also having IVF at the minute so tensions feel quite high... no one can ever say the right thing! It seems one of us is always too excited/not sensitive enough all the time!

Soontobecarer · 11/10/2020 15:13

I have three children conceived by donor iui. Oldest is now 15. Happy to answer any questions if it's helpful to ask someone further along the journey. What I can say is that whilst the donor is mentioned occasionally and we have been open from the start, it really doesn't play a major part in our day to day lives. In fact, the carefully chosen people we told our whole story to have an annoying habit of completely forgetting our children are donor conceived!

mabel9 · 14/10/2020 07:00

Hi ladies!
Sorry for the radio silence, I’ve been taking time offline recently, anyways it seemed to work as yesterday I got my positive test, 3rd time lucky I guess! Let’s hope he/she stays around! 🤞

@LifeIsBusy yep due date was confirmed As the 19th April!!!!

I'm already in legging as I have to be back at work and they are the only comfy thing I can wear at the moment. But we are going shopping on Monday for more maternity stuff cause I'm just blowing up now! And it feels amazing.

How are you getting on? ThTs a shame about your wrist!

Tasha1607 · 14/10/2020 07:34

@BananaHammock23 well I hope everything works out for you this time. I know exactly what you mean. We had friends that did IUI and they used hormones like we did but they couldn't deal with it and stopped it all together. And we are a little concerned about telling them it's worked for us.

Im sure if you all stick together through it all and support each other then you and you're friend will get through it all. Hopefully all with good news too!

Tasha1607 · 14/10/2020 07:34

@mabel9 congratulations! That it amazing! How are you feeling?
