Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

Ladies - so I have got an under active thyroid and take levothyroxine daily - I just had my antibodies test done as clinic wanted that to be checked and doc messaged to say it's high and I have Hashimoto Disease.
Anyone else in the same boat?
I know it can be managed with diet but not what I wanted to hear!!
X

Cleozeta · 24/11/2020 11:38

@greendress789 it only takes 1, you may get lucky 1st or even 2nd time, best of luck to you!

@Pingupp sorry I have no idea what that is. Hopefully someone else on here may!

I have my test day on Friday. Kind of not looking forward to it as afraid it'll be negative. I am quite enjoying the hope currently...

Pingupp · 24/11/2020 12:31

@Cleozeta have you been tempted to do a test?? Xx

Cleozeta · 24/11/2020 14:36

@Pingupp not at all, I'd rather put it off until later really! Seen too many negatives, not wanting another. It's quite nice having hope. Quite enjoying it!

Pingupp · 24/11/2020 15:52

@Cleozeta I don't blame you. Enjoy the last few days and hopefully you will get your big fat positive - I really hope so xx

Pingupp · 26/11/2020 08:49

@Cleozeta keeping fingers and toes crossed for you today xx

Russkispy · 26/11/2020 22:47

@Cleozeta good luck for tomorrow! Will be thinking of you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

tikha · 27/11/2020 06:13

@Cleozeta hope today goes well..
@greendress789 welcome and good luck for tomorrow

Cleozeta · 27/11/2020 09:25

So today's result was BFN.
Spoke to the clinic and they said they are concerned the date they gave me to test was a little bit early, so they want me to test again on Monday to be sure. Thing is the test was blank, literally not even a hint, and I'm 10 days past 5 day transfer so I'm certain it's negative. Will go along with what they say anyway, but I don't really want to drag it out any longer than needed.
Still have 2 in the freezer so will try again, but it's just so frustrating waiting for a natural cycle in between, especially when my natural cycles are so unpredictable. So it's looking like, if all goes smoothly next cycle, that next transfer will be mid Feb. Around the time of my 44th birthday.
I've been ttc since age 39, it's getting silly now. Don't really want to get any older doing this!
Anyone else worry about age?

ZoomFatigue · 27/11/2020 14:43

Hi @Cleozeta - I'm new to posting on this thread but I PMed you the other day with my other username (about Manchester Fertility) and you kindly suggested I join in with the thread.

I am so sorry about your bloody awful news - I know how utterly crap you must be feeling right now. Words just do not cut it and I know the sympathy (and empathy) of a stranger on the internet doesn't cut it either. But - my heart went out to you when I read your update. I honestly feel your pain and frustration.

The great thing about those multiple packages is you have more goes. I know it's probably not much comfort now, but a relief at least you have more attempts.

I'll never forget the numbness you feel when you get a BFN after an IVF cycle. If it's still no joy on Monday, I'm sending you a virtual vat of wine for Monday night Wine

ZoomFatigue · 27/11/2020 14:51

Re. age - yes. I'm 43 too and feeling a bit Hmm about it. I always thought age was just a number with egg donation, but there are so many other factors to consider. And not just being mistaken for your child's grandmother! DE conception seems to prefer slightly younger patients too, so I'm learning. I guess I'm just going to keep plodding on.

I was 37 when I first went to the doctor about our failure to produce a child. And here I am.... six years later. I suppose persistence is an admirable quality! Smile

tikha · 27/11/2020 17:19

@Cleozeta its awful isn't it. I was 38 when I was ttc and now 41.. how many embryos do you have left? Hopefully you can transfer another one soon

Cleozeta · 27/11/2020 17:28

@zoomfatigue thanks. Just another thing to add to the shit storm of 2020! We were also waiting on a mortgage approval today which came back as 'lost in the cracks' and there is concern if it doesn't go through soon, our sellers may pull out. This happened to us already this year, our house purchase fell through just after our Stillbirth during lockdown. Honestly, you couldn't make the shit up!
So I was not hugely surprised by today, but next transfer will be in 2021, which I hope will be a much happier year!!

@tikha we have 2 left in the freezer, then another round, which I hope we won't need! I think next transfer will be Feb, once I've had a natural cycle (hate that we have to do that)

greendress789 · 27/11/2020 17:51

I am so sorry @Cleozeta, I really was hoping for good news for you.

Here's hoping 2021 is your year xxxxxx

Oh crap - house stress on top of IVF stress... Crossing fingers the mortgage approval gets sorted quickly. You definitely deserve a medal after all this and yes - 2020 can go do one!

sharpster1 · 27/11/2020 18:25

hello everyone, I'm back for the first time since August as we're trying again this month: our 2nd round with donor eggs. In the meantime I've been exploring whether there was anything else I could be doing/testing/taking to give us a better result - we did an ERA cycle which confirmed that my receptivity is delayed, so the timing of the previous transfer cycles was correct. To be honest I went to a dark place after August's BFN and we considered stopping. But we have 2 frozen donor embryos left, and they're stored about a mile from my house, and I drive past them regularly....and in short, just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.

Leala20 · 28/11/2020 08:49

@Cleozeta I am so sorry about yesterday’s bfn. I know how you were looking forward to first getting this cycle going in November. I feel how you must feel and I am sending you huge hugs and lots of love. Don’t worry about the age, it’s a matter of a couple months difference on a grand scale. I know it’s easier said as I would also struggle but we are here to support you and you’re not alone. House news is a bummer things have to work out now and going forward.

@greendress789 good luck today.
@sharpster1 nice to hear from you again. My failed July cycle also took me ages to get over and then couldn’t do the next one right away. I put so much faith into it that it was a heartache when it didn’t work. Well done you had the patience to do investigations and take time and hope all works out for you now

@Cleozeta oh no - I just read this. I am so sorry - I had high hopes for you.
I hope your natural cycle arrives soon do you can crack on - 2021 is going to be a better year for us - positive thoughts.
Try not to worry about the age- I am 45- don't look it or feel it.... I know we can give a child a happy, loved life.
Allow yourself to be upset but look to the future.
Fingers crossed for the house too.

@greendress789 how you doing?

Hope everyone is ok. I have spent time with my best friend today who found out on Weds that she has breast cancer. 2020 can piss off now.

Xx

greendress789 · 30/11/2020 13:50

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. Had one put back and one frozen.

I am not excited though as I have been here many, many times before (this is my 8th transfer). Testing date is the due date of the baby I miscarried a few years back so please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Good luck to everyone else x

Cleozeta · 30/11/2020 14:38

@Pingupp oh no sorry to hear about your friend. You are right, 2020 can so do one now. Well and truly!
Come on 2021, bring us some luck.

@greendress789 good luck, and reassuring to know you have a freezer back up, but hopefully you won't need it!

tikha · 30/11/2020 21:11

@Pingupp hashimoto is a autoimmune problem of the thyroid. It is important that your TSH is below 2.4 ideally below 1 as it will go up with a transfer. You need to ask your clinic and go what steps they are taking to deal with it. Are you on thyroxine? Once an embryo is transferred you would need to probably have weekly blood tests initially.

Baseline scan is the first scan you do before you start oestrogen supplements usually on day 2, 3 or 4 of your cycle. This is assuming you haven't been through some downregulation in which it might refer to a different point in time. People who go through regular cycles and don't need to sync with donor cycle dont need to go through down regulation etc.

Sorry for the delay in replying.. was on nights.

Pingupp · 30/11/2020 22:06

@tikha thanks for this.
It's 1.41 at the moment - clinic are putting me on steroids when I start using cyclogest pessaries and I'll be on them until week 12 of pregnancy ( fingers crossed ) or not ....
Also gp is aware and are ready to take bloods once a positive result is obtained and they will refer me to a endocrine specialist at hospital. I feel better now there is a plan,
What a pain! But hopefully it will be worth it.
How are things with you?
Xx

tikha · 30/11/2020 22:17

@Pingupp so steroids won't effect your tsh level but the autoimmune aspect of it. Is your tsh below 2.5? That is the bare minimum it should be before transfer. If not might need thyroxine supplementation. Google nice guidelines for thyroid function and fertility

Pingupp · 01/12/2020 07:52

@tikha correct - steroids are just there to give a boost and to ensure my body doesn't reject the transfer and hopefully growing baby in 1st 3 months.
GP will increase thyroxine once I am pregnant.
Fingers crossed!
