Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

@Sunbird24 and @ksusha20 good luck!!
Keeping busy a very good plan

Pleaseletitbeme · 06/10/2020 13:52

Bad news Angry
So 8 eggs
6 fertilised
1 made it to blast (shitty 3BC)
2 very slow growing- fizzling out- but going to try them over night.
Shitty one transferred. What the fuck is the point of the whole thing. Even with material that’s not genetically mine there’s no chance.
I’ve had better blasts from my own eggs that have failed.
Again I hold no hope for this transfer.

Cleozeta · 06/10/2020 14:28

@Pleaseletitbeme sorry things have not worked out so well with your embryos, but don't stress about the quality, they wouldn't transfer if they thought there was no chance, plus I have heard many stories of people with perfect grade eggs failing, and then 'crap' ones turning into beautiful healthy babies, so try not to worry. Plus, the two slow growers are not out yet. Trust your clinic, they want it to succeed too, and will do the best they can for you.

What package have you paid for? Do you have another round?

I am still confused about mine, I've paid 10k for 2 cycles, but does that mean 2 lots of 6 eggs? Or 6 eggs plus transfer of one other frozen embryo? Would have been 6500 for one round but that includes the 6 eggs. So confusing!

Pleaseletitbeme · 06/10/2020 16:12

Hi Cleozeta, I’ve paid for a 50% refund if it doesn’t work over 3 cycles.... but I’m going to have run out of embryos before that happens.... so I don’t know how it all works either.
Hope you have better luck than me.
I can’t get much lower.

Cleozeta · 06/10/2020 16:49

@Pleaseletitbeme if you have paid for 3 cycles and you could only get one embryo, then you will get more eggs for the next round

ksusha20 · 06/10/2020 17:10

@Pleaseletitbeme it’s very frustrating that we go with the donor egg to ensure higher quality of eggs and increase chances of success but instead we don’t get better off than with own egg. But you can never say it failed until it is confirmed. Grading clinics do is on morphology of the embryo but it doesn’t really give you true predictions of the success. Grading is used to chose which embryo to transfer. because they have not come out with better way. I mean there is a better way - PGS. Only by having done PGS you can have more reliable prediction of the outcome.
I got pregnant with the worst graded blast when was doing IVF with my own egg. And failed a few times on excellent quality.
And your 2 slow growing embryos can still reach blastocyst. I had two like that yesterday and one managed to turn into expanded blastocyst today.
So let’s keep fingers crossed for tomorrow.
How old is your donor and how many kids she has of her own? Were any pregnancy reported from her eggs?

Pleaseletitbeme · 06/10/2020 18:43

Hi Ksusha,
Thanks....
We have no info at all like that on our donor.
Only what sort of a person she was and a description
(London Egg Bank).

Cleozeta... more eggs.... more cost... spent over 60K now.... no savings... I have earning potential but it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

Russkispy · 06/10/2020 18:46

@Sunbird24 good luck for tomorrow! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Pleaseletitbeme sorry you're going through these stressful time! But I really hope your other embryos catch up to the full blasts! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Pleaseletitbeme · 06/10/2020 19:30

Russkispy.... thanks. Hope you are ok.
I feel so angry and pissed off.

Cleozeta · 06/10/2020 21:37

@Pleaseletitbeme if you have already paid for 3 cycles you won't have to pay more if you need more eggs, but I'm not sure how it works, if you can get more from the same donor or you may need to choose another, I don't know

tikha · 06/10/2020 21:49

@Pleaseletitbeme this is stressful. Sorry for what you have been through. You can ask the London egg bank for age of donor.

Leala20 · 06/10/2020 23:25

Hi All, I am sorry for not responding earlier on. Work has been busy and in between of my cycle I tried to take my mind off a bit. Congratulations on transfers @Pleaseletitbeme and @ksusha20 and good luck tomorrow @Sunbird24.
@tikha and @Cleozeta very good to hear you has your appointments and now looking forward to the next cycle. After my bfn I also felt better once I could start planning from appointment to cycle and tests.
I read a bit about grading and from what I remember it’s more of an indicator for transfer based on purely physical buildup but doesn’t always meant it’s internal makeup is the strongest and I also heard stories of the weaker ones doing better. It’s disheartening as there’s this classification but we need to cling on hope too.
I started acupuncture and had a couple of sessions. I am not sure about it trying to keep positive. For those of you who do/did acupuncture, is the effect hard to perceive at first?

Hi Leala, we tried acupuncture for our last Round of egg collection (where I didn’t respond at all).... I do believe it is a good thing to do.... it just didn’t help me.

Cleozeta · 07/10/2020 07:56

@Leala20 I had acupuncture when I was trying naturaly. I didn't notice an obvious physical benefit at the time, but it definitely did stuff. It brought my FSH down from 18.4 to 10.4 in a few months, I got pregnant while doing it 3 times, as apposed to never for the few years prior to doing it. It helped my cycled and balanced my hormones. I also took the Chinese herbs.

Cleozeta · 07/10/2020 09:16

My natural cycle isn't going well, as I predicted. Spotting on cd10 & 11 so don't think I'll be ovulating any time soon. This cycle could go on forever.

Hopeandlight · 07/10/2020 09:34

thanks tikha

tikha Tue 06-Oct-20 07:19:10
@Hopeandlight i went with LWC in the end for no special reason apart from convenience of a frozen database but there is one in Manchester as well

ksusha20 · 07/10/2020 18:37

@Cleozeta can your clinic give you some progesterone maybe? or they want your body just get back to normal naturally?

Cleozeta · 07/10/2020 21:24

I have progesterone, can I use that if I haven't ovulated? Would it start a bleed if I stop?
The clinic said to contact them in 4 weeks if I don't get a period, then they'll scan and give medication if it looks annovulatory, to start a period. Can't really justify traveling across the country for that though.

Pleaseletitbeme · 07/10/2020 21:37

Oh Cleozeta, I’m sorry things aren’t going quite to plan. It’s so frustrating.
We had the call today to say that one of the embryos fizzled out and the other is a 5CC. So they’ve frozen it.
I’m so pissed off. It’s never going to happen.

Cleozeta · 08/10/2020 09:16

@Pleaseletitbeme but you have a frozen, that's great! Don't let the grading put you off, I really don't think it means much when it comes to success.

These things are never easy or straightforward are they!

ksusha20 · 08/10/2020 10:01

@ Pleaseletitbeme I agree with Cleozeta. Whether it’s CC or AA it is not a predictor of success. The important thing is if it’s chtomosomaly balanced and that only PGS can tell you not the grading.

Cleozeta · 08/10/2020 10:28

I have just been reading up on my multicycle package that I have paid for, as it is confusing me what they class as a 'cycle'. So I was thinking cycle meant actual cycle. Like period to period, but on reading more thoroughly it looks like it means embryo creation. On the website it says guaranteed 6 eggs per cycle. Includes transfer of all frozen embryo's. So does that mean I get 4 transfers within this cycle then get to go again with another 6 eggs, all within the cost? And do we use the same donor or choose another? It's so confusing!!
Anyone else doing any kind of multi cycle package and know what it all means?

ksusha20 · 08/10/2020 11:01

@Cleozeta based on what you wrote i think your understanding is correct. But the chances are very high that you are not going to get to another cycle/creating another set of embryos based on the your first cycle results. Statistically you have (if no male infertility) 98% of live birth after 3 transfers.
However the question is how your clinic measure success. Is it just clinical pregnancy/first scan. Because if first scan confirmed pregnancy then I think you probably loose all your cycles. Meaning if you want to do another transfer for a sibling for example using your frozen embryo, then you will need to pay. But I might be wrong. I think someone at your clinic can definitely confirm that for you.

Cleozeta · 08/10/2020 12:02

@ksusha20 according to the website, success means live birth. Hopefully we won't need another 'cycle' as you say, but actually I'm feeling a lot more optimistic if I have all those chances. I thought it was just 2 shots!

tikha · 09/10/2020 08:09

@Cleozeta should have looked in the multicycle packake . Oh well this is hindsight. Progesterone wont trigger it. It will potentially lengthen it. They would need check your hormones and take control of cycke but could potentially take longer. Could you try acupuncture?

Am still waiting for first period after miscarriage but finally my test is negative. Hopefully AF arrives soon and then its a one month wait. I have some work to catch up on which i couldnt do when wiped our from progesterone so maybe waiting is a good idea.

@Pleaseletitbeme @ ksusha20 hope you are keeping busy

@Sunbird24 will you transfer this cycle or wait till you recovered from ec. Hope that went ok.

@Leala20 never done acupuncture before. Just watch Netflix and go running to relax but i didn't realise it had fertility benefits
