Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

Hi @tikha, they’ve made me an appointment for transfer on Monday afternoon, I’m still wavering between one or two though. 14/16 fertilised by day 1, but I don’t know how many will make it to day 5, and as I’m 42 I’m expecting it to take a couple of attempts before anything sticks.

Hope AF shows up soon, but giving yourself a break does sound like a good idea.

My BFF has sent me a couple of fertility charms, one is a bracelet with aquamarine, moonstone and rose quartz, and the other is a little lucky fertility frog. Not sure if they actually do anything (acupuncture has proven benefits, these obviously don’t!) but there’s no harm in them and it makes her feel good to do this for me.

Cleozeta · 09/10/2020 09:26

@tikha yeah I think it's going to get complicated if I don't ovulate, as I can't just 'pop' to my clinic, I chose one miles away. Whoops!!
Oh well, will just have to hope it goes OK. Currently cd13 and no sign of anything yet. I did notice that in my first box of meds they included a box of microgyn (or something like that) which I've googled and looks like it might be birth control? Anyone else get this in their meds box?

Wow that has been a long time since your mc to now wait for a period. You are much more patient than me! Hopefully you'll be able to move things along soon.

@Sunbird24 sounds very promising for you! That's a lot of fertilised eggs. Good luck for Monday, I would probably go for 2, but then that's just me 😆

I also wear a fertility stones bracelet, have done for years. Clearly not worked for me yet, but don't want to jinx things by taking it off!!

Sunbird24 · 09/10/2020 09:34

@Cleozeta is it microgynon? Sure I used to take that as birth control way back when. Can you do a telephone appointment with your clinic? Especially this year that should be an option for anything that doesn’t involve a physical exam.

ksusha20 · 09/10/2020 09:39

@Sunbird24 that’s a really good result even for a younger woman :) Congrats
I would suggest to go with one. Two doesn’t increase the chance of pregnancy but rather twins. If your hormones level maybe not ideal for that particular cycle then no matter how good embryo is , it will not stick. And you can loose 2 instead of one.
We made mistake with going 3 times with two. Because we possibly lost 3 additional attempts. If you know what I mean.
But obviously it’s your choice.
Are you going to do preimplantation genetic testing ?

Sunbird24 · 09/10/2020 09:49

@ksusha20 no, but I did pay the extra for time lapse photography so they can make videos to see the development, fragmentation etc in detail and choose the ones with the best chance of success. I’m hoping that will be enough! It’s an expensive process...

tikha · 09/10/2020 12:03

@Sunbird24 thats a good result. if you got with two, chances are only one will implant given your age and the number of viable embroyos statistically but then again you had a very good result in which case your chance of twins go up and right after IVF it might be hard on your body. Also twin pregancies and both age increase chances of pre-eclampsia and premature birth. You could transfer one this time and see how it goes? You should look at the literature and talk it through with your clinic and make that decision. Annoying as its the weekend and you would have to wait till day of transfer. Hope you have a restful weekend and recover :)

@Cleozeta microgynon is the combined oral contraceptive pill

Leala20 · 10/10/2020 08:14

@Sunbird24 that’s an amazing result hope all goes well Monday!
@ksusha20 are you now in your tww? I missed a few days and there’s been a lot of updates recently, hope you’re doing well!
@Pleaseletitbeme hope you’re keeping positive too as you never know what’s happening down there.
@tikha this has been a long time for you. Glad to hear the test is negative and you can now just look forward to the AF.
@Cleozeta you mentioned ovulation a lot and I thought in our case it doesn’t really matter if we ovulate but if we get AF? I am sorry if I am not cognisant of something I should be. I hope the longer wait gets shorter. After the bfn my AF came on day 40 due to all the hormones I guess we have been taking and the next one was not regular either. With a bfp this in need can take far longer.
I started to enjoy the acupuncture actually after a few sessions. I just didn’t really know what to think when I was lying with the needles as you’re just left there and told you can sleep or relax. When I had reflexology this obviously is full on the whole appointment.

Cleozeta · 10/10/2020 09:06

@Leala20 the reason I mention ovulation is because ovulation dictates AF, without ovulation there can be no AF. And for once in my life its actually AF I need!! (never thought I'd say that 🤣)
I think you could be right about the hormones messing it up, I wonder if thats a common theme and that's why they include the microgynon in the meds pack? I guess that would make sense. I just have no patience for all that shit, I just want to get on!!

Glad you are enjoying acupuncture, it does take a bit of getting used to, just lying there with the needles. I used to just see it as a bit of time out of real life stuff, enforced relaxation! I loved it.

@Sunbird24 hopefully they will do a telephone consultation, but during my review consultation he mentioned needing to check hormone levels and lining before giving a 'magic pill' to make a period come.

I think I am worried because at my latest scan they couldn't see my overies at all, they had to call someone in for a second opinion. I don't normally have that problem, and I know overies shrivel up as we get older. Also I have been lightly spotting since AF, it's now CD14 and still doing it.

My sister is 2 years older at 45 and currently goes up to 4 months without a period as menopausing.

Pleaseletitbeme · 10/10/2020 09:59

Morning everyone
I’m certain this transfer has failed.
My resting heart rate is going down not up and every time I’ve had a bfp, it’s gone up and up every day post transfer.
I’ve got one other crap one in the freezer, then will have to buy more eggs (my plan doesn’t include extra eggs).
Hope everyone is ok today.

tikha · 10/10/2020 11:11

@Pleaseletitbeme sorry to hear this. Its really tough as you have to wait the two weeks...I would be feeling angry as well as you have much higher expectations with donor eggs. Its like fate deals a crappy hand and one would hope that atleast if you go for an out of the box option it would be better.. :(

Pleaseletitbeme · 10/10/2020 11:26

Tikha
You’ve really summed up what I would like to put into words with this whole experience xxx

Cleozeta · 10/10/2020 11:33

@Pleaseletitbeme what does your package include?

ksusha20 · 11/10/2020 08:24

@Leala20 yes, I’m currently in tww. My blood test on Friday. Trying not to put too much hope but trying to stay positive.
@Pleaseletitbeme I did not know that heart measurement can be predictor of pregnancy. Is it possible that this time is just different?
My last pregnancy I was sure my AF was coming, had all the symptoms and spotting the day before blood test. I didn’t even saw a point of doing the blood test but nurse still advised to. I almost fell out of the chair when my results came back very strong positive. So sometimes life is like that.
I try not to build any expectations these days not to be disappointed but at the same time brush off negative thoughts.

Cleozeta · 11/10/2020 15:17

I contacted my clinic and told them about the prelonged spotting, and my concerns about my natural cycle, and they responded really quickly and are sending medication to start a period tomorrow.
Just in case anyone else has natural cycle problems, it's good to know something can be done!
Phew, I can relax now, that was really stressing me out!

Pleaseletitbeme · 11/10/2020 20:35

cleozeta, my package includes everything EXCEPT meds, eggs, time lapse and Genetic testing.

Cleozeta · 11/10/2020 21:28

@Pleaseletitbeme it's missing some quite major things there, I hope you didn't pay too much!!!

Pleaseletitbeme · 11/10/2020 22:42

£14,400 for 3 cycles. 50% refund.
Plus £4,400 for eggs

Pleaseletitbeme · 11/10/2020 22:45

Great to see that you are able to move on with your cycle Cleozeta.
I’m hoping to get another round in before Xmas. My body has told me that this round has been a no-go. 6 more days before OTD
Looking forward to no bloody injections for a bit. I hate them.

Leala20 · 12/10/2020 09:14

@Sunbird24 good luck today.
@Pleaseletitbeme you’re still early days and there’s still chances there. I understand your disappointment. I picked 10 egg option and got 11 hoping for siblings now having only 3 embryos left I am more grounded with my expectations

Leala20 · 12/10/2020 09:15

@Cleozeta that’s great news. Hope you’re feeling more positive. I remember when I failed, I just wanted to get in with the next cycle and move on.

Cleozeta · 12/10/2020 09:34

@Pleaseletitbeme are you in London? Sounds quite expensive for what you are getting. One of the reasons we chose to go up north was cost (we actually live closer to London) means the travel has been a pain (we also don't drive) and we now have the worry of Northern lockdowns causing potential problems, which we wouldn't have had if we had done London, but I guess it's all a balancing act!

Anyway, don't write this cycle off yet as there is still a chance.

@Leala20 good luck with your next transfer, hopefully you won't need all 3! Have you had your scan yet? Is your oestrogen problem sorted?

Yes I do feel much better now that I know I can move onto the next round, the waiting is shit!

Sunbird24 · 12/10/2020 16:18

Just catching up, but I’ve got one embryo on board since just under an hour ago. It took 2 attempts as it refused to leave the catheter first time, hoping that means it’s sticky...

Hope everyone is doing ok, thinking of you all.

ksusha20 · 12/10/2020 17:11

@Sunbird24 Congrats on your transfer !
It happens to me once and it was a sticky one :)
It is definitely a good sign. 🤞

Cleozeta · 12/10/2020 19:46

Fingers crossed for you @Sunbird24

Pingupp · 13/10/2020 11:45

Hi all - hope you are all getting on ok.
We have had lots of forms to fill in since finding our donor.
One of them is asking if we want :
Embryo Glue
Endometrial scratch
Assisted hatching

Have any of you ladies had this??
We have a meeting on Friday so will ask the clinic then but just out of curiosity just wondered. Its mind boggling!!

Xx
