At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

How's the pregnancy going @H8624 ? How are you doing @Waiting2BAMummy - stuck in lockdown limbo still?

Genuinely surprised to see myself back on here, after the grief of losing even to a chemical, I think my husband finally realised what it had done to me and he had a change of heart and offered to continue trying, I'm so pleased and had our first attempt last night. We were so lucky to conceive off just 1 go last month, I doubt it will be the same this month, but still, we've agreed to do 2 a month during ovulation, I'm more than happy with that, if we do a day apart it gives us a 7 day window on the basis sperm lives up to 5 days. It's just so nice to feel like we can continue to have a chance now going forward.

We've had some heart to hearts these past 2 weeks, I think losing the pregnancy has actually bought us together Smile

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/06/2020 20:25

That's great news that he's willing to try again @ChunkyButFunky87 fingers crossed for you.

I've found a new donor but it's trying to get to meet. It's horrible too as one of the ladies at work has just announced her pregnancy too, complete with scan picture, and she's due the exact day I would have been when I had my chemical pregnancy. Can't let it get to me though have to keep positive that if I got pregnant once I can do it again!

Trixabelle84 · 06/06/2020 11:22

Hi, please can I join?

First cycle trying this month so new to this! 12 dpo but had some bleeding this morning, hopefully implantation rather than early AF. AF due in 4/5 days and generally pretty regular give or take a day or so so I think this would be unusually early. Not getting my hopes up though, I'm almost 36 so will probably take longer.

H8624 · 06/06/2020 16:26

@chunkybutfunky87 it's going well so far thank you! Have had a scan at 9 weeks and all is looking good so fingers crossed he sticks (I think it's a boy 😂 altho of course have no idea!)

Glad to see your partner is willing to try again - that is great news! And since you conceived so fast last time fingers crossed the same happens again with a sticky bean 🤞. Are you in the TWW now?

@waitingtobamummy it's good that you've found a new donor already! Hopefully you'll have some luck and conceive quick with a new donor as well!

Let us know how you get on please!

Welcome @Trixabelle84 fingers crossed for you!

Ah glad it's going well @H8624 yes, I'm due on in 2 days, I have already tested - just because!! Negative so I'm not overly optimistic this month but again, it's just nice to be in with a chance Smile

H8624 · 06/06/2020 17:26

@chunkybutfunky87 you're not out until AF shows though so keep positive for now!

I really hope this is your lucky month :)

@H8624 that is true! It ain't over til the fat lady sings, I am definitely the chubby one but I'm not singing yet Grin

ChunkyButFunky87 · 07/06/2020 09:25

I'm still a day before AF due although sometimes varies and couldn't help testing again. I'm not sure if I've got an absolute squinter on the clearblue but nothing on the FRER, really hoping I can hold off another few days, I'm down to my last test and it's a digital

@chunkybutfunky87 I can see a faint line! Fingers crossed for you!

Over 24 hours and still light bleeding when I wipe for me, don't usually get spotting before AF but just need to wait to see if AF rears her ugly head. Did a test and BFN but if this is implantation bleeding then guess it wouldn't show as BFP yet anyway? Just need to be patient I guess (not my strongest trait Grin) Hmm

Waiting2BAMummy · 07/06/2020 19:43

Glad everything is going well @H8624

That is a definite line @ChunkyButFunky87 fingers firmly crossed for you.

Welcome @Trixabelle84 good luck.

I’m kind of in a dilemma as to whether I should be using OPK’s or not. The month I conceived my chemical pregnancy I didn’t use them but in the two months since then I’ve seen my donor at my usual time but have been completely off I don’t think I ovulated until CD20 the first month after my chemical and CD18 last month. Things do seem to be moving back to normal and I’m assuming based on the previous 2 months that I’ll ovulate on CD16 this month so am due to meet donor on CD’s 13 & 15 but don’t know if I should be using OPK’s to be sure. I get so obsessed with them that I’m not sure whether they do more harm than good. That said trying at completely the wrong time isn’t going to help either.

H8624 · 08/06/2020 14:00

@chunkybutfunky87 that most recent one looks positive so fingers crossed it sticks! Have you tested again today or are you trying to wait? If you can get a first response you may get a good line by now as they're meant to be more sensitive!

@trixabelle84 I have always spotted before AF and I still had a few days spotting before it then tailed off and I got a BFP! Didn't test until the bleeding stopped tho so would have been a few days after. Don't lose hope - you're not out until AF arrives!

@Waiting2BAMummy I always found OPKs useful in order to find the best time to inseminate - for me if I hadn't used them I would have missed my ovulation date most months! Also (altho I'm sure you've already read this!) even once you get a peak you can ovulate up to a couple of days later so it may be worth trying to do an extra day apart so you're covered for longer? Hard to tell though really isn't it!

H8624 · 09/06/2020 15:43

@chunkybutfunky87 how are you doing? Have you tested again if AF hasn't arrived?

OP posts:
ChunkyButFunky87 · 09/06/2020 19:48

Evening ladies,

@H8624 I'm sat wishing I ordered my sticks on my husbands prime account lol I am now 2 days overdue though so it's just the waiting game until more tests arrive (husband shielding so I'm forbidden from shops and my tesco doesn't come until after Amazon is due anyway!) it's ok though, feeling relatively relaxed after last time. Very much a 'what will be, will be' vibe which I think is the best way.

How are you doing?

@Trixabelle84 any more bleeding?

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/06/2020 21:14

Thanks @H8624 I just feel I get really obsessed by OPK’s so think I’m going to skip them this month as I’m CD11 tomorrow so a little late to start but may have to get them next month if I am looking into a clearblue fertility monitor can be pick them up on eBay for around £45. I’m due to see my donor on Friday and Sunday so fingers crossed I won’t need the monitor but I won’t hold my breath!

Good luck @ChunkyButFunky87 fingers firmly crossed for you.

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/06/2020 21:15

How are you feeling @H8624? I can’t imagine the feeling of knowing you’re growing a tiny human. So amazing x

H8624 · 10/06/2020 09:03

@chunkybutfunky87 it may be a good thing you're waiting for them to be delivered as means you can't test just yet and if AF doesn't arrive you will be more likely to get a BFP!

@waitingtobamummy I understand the obsession with OPKs as you just want to test every hour to see if there's a change! Not using them worked for you last time so hopefully it will again :).

I'm doing ok thank you! Symptoms seem to be easing now which is nice.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 10/06/2020 09:37

@H8624 yes there is that, still no sign of AF and per Amazon, sticks due Friday. Tbf it'll be exactly the timing I found out last time if so, keeping fingers crossed x

Trixabelle84 · 10/06/2020 14:13

@chunkybutfunky87 No, no more bleeding AF hasn't arrived yet either and was due yesterday/today - no sign as yet but normally just appears. Had another BFN this morning though Hmm

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Trixabelle84 · 10/06/2020 20:16

AF has arrived 😔 Oh well, move onto the next cycle! Don't know what that spotting at the weekend was about, doesn't normally happen before AF (unless I just haven't noticed!) .

ChunkyButFunky87 · 10/06/2020 20:46

@Trixabelle84 ah sorry to hear. It's crappy but stops the constant 'what if' for a little longer, we'll get there x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 11/06/2020 13:26

Appears AF is just playing games with me Sad still not appeared, late. Would be showing by now on a FRER

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/06/2020 21:40

Sorry to hear that @ChunkyButFunky87 my cycle was longer the month after my chemical pregnancy I think it’s quite common. Hope you’re okay.

Glad you’re feeling better @H8624. My donor is visiting tomorrow and Sunday and I’m not going to use OPK’s, at least not this month.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 12/06/2020 17:20

AF arrived! Cow!

Waiting2BAMummy · 12/06/2020 21:43

Sorry @ChunkyButFunky87 some people just don’t know when they’re not wanted! I feel your upset especially after your chemical. I don’t know about you but I find myself working out how far gone I would be now, I don’t know why I do it because it doesn’t help anything but I can’t seem to help it.

My donor got held up at work today so isn’t coming over until tomorrow now. I had really wet cm yesterday (sorry TMI) so am worried now that I have already ovulated and I should just tell him not to bother. Don’t know what to do.
