Hi all. I hope you don't mind me joining in? We are currently on our first DE cycle, with EC set for this Wednesday. All being well we fly out to Prague on Sunday for Monday ET.
We already have a 2 year old DS conceived using OE after multiple rounds of IVF.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Wishing you all the very best.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/02/2019 15:11

Can I join? Never thought I'd be on a thread like this, but I seem to have ordered sperm from Cryos this morning, so I think I'm allowed...! (Sorry, am in a bit of shock with it all. Have been talking about it for a year, but to actually do it is a huge thing for me.)

Isn't it amazing what you can buy online?????

I would so love to have a baby. I'm aware that, at my age, the odds are against me. And I will face negative reaction from some quarters if the impossible actually happens, but I'll face that bridge if I come to it.

In the meantime can I just be excited with you guys???

Bear1980 · 22/02/2019 18:59

Welcome @TimeIhadaNameChange I haven't commented on this thread for a while as most people I knew have moved on. I am hoping that my experience can give you a bit of comfort because like you I didn't know how people would react to my decision to go it alone. I have recently announced my pregnancy to family and friends and can honestly say that I am overwhelmed at how supportive everyone has been. So far I haven't had a single negative comment or felt a bit of judgement from anyone which has been amazing. At some point you just need to make a decision and everyone else will get used to it. Good luck Smile

LanieM87 · 22/02/2019 19:25

I’ve had a really positive reaction from my parents, I haven’t really told anyone else my plans yet as I’m still waiting for my period to return back to normal. But I’m fairly certain my close friends will be very supportive!
Good luck with your order from cryos- can’t wait to hear how you get on with it 😊

Pez82 · 22/02/2019 19:26

Ohhhh I've just had a notification in my inbox that there were new messages on the thread (I never disabled them) and so glad to read such great news @Bear1980 !! Congratulations!

How are you feeling and when are you due? I'm so happy for you xx

Bear1980 · 22/02/2019 19:50

Thanks @Pez82 feeling good, just a bit anxious waiting for movement / 20 weeks scan (17 weeks now so not long to wait). Due on 31st July with a baby boy 👦🏼. How's things with you?

Pez82 · 22/02/2019 20:41

It won't be long before you start feeling movements but I definitely remember the anxiety so I can empathise. A little boy, how nice 😊
We're both doing well, thanks. Can you believe my DD is 14 months already?

On the subject of people's reactions, I'm yet to hear anything negative from anyone. Actually people are mostly in awe that I chose to go it alone and there hasn't been any awkward moments or anything. I'm very open about it. It's also very common now for a single woman to go down the donor route.

pickle162 · 22/02/2019 20:50

@Bear1980 !!!!!!!! I'm so soo soooooooooo happy for you!!! Massive congratulations 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘 ah I remember the time between the scans seemed so long but once they pop out boy does the time go quick. My little girl is 10m old now and seems like only yesterday she arrived
Best of luck with it all my love, it really is the best xxxx

Zebedee88 · 22/02/2019 20:52

Can I join? Only just seen this, so I don't want to lose it! Looking in to sperm donors, but I want to get my finances in order then hopefully I can start! I'm 30 years old.

pickle162 · 22/02/2019 21:48

Huge congratulations @ButtonMooooon , sorry a friend spotted bears news and updated but didn't scroll down! So pleased for you sweetie 😘xxx

Bear1980 · 22/02/2019 21:52

Thanks @pickle162 wasn't sure anyone was still around 😜 I'm very excited to finally be here and I can't quite believe it 😀. Amazing how time flies 10 months old already I remember when you just found out you were pregnant.

@Pez82 wow 14 months how has the first year gone so quickly. I have been more open than I originally thought I would be. Turns out it's just easier all round to be upfront with people and everyone has been amazing. I figure in a few years there is going to be a little boy running around with no filter telling all my secrets so might as well just tell people now lol.

pickle162 · 22/02/2019 22:01

I occasionally look on thread but am still in touch with Pez and a few others from way back and Pez mentioned it so had to come on and congratulated.
Yes I haven't had any negative responses about having her how I did. A few "oh how will/do you cope" type comments but nothing nasty. Ahhhh just so pleased for you xxx

ButtonMooooon · 23/02/2019 10:39

Thanks @pickle162 I am 17 weeks tomorrow! I remember it taking ages to get to 20 weeks with DS and then the next 20 just flew by and although I feel like I've been pregnant for ages, I also can't believe I am nearly halfway!!!

DH is feeling guilty this morning as he accidentally gave me a 4% cider from the fridge last night instead of an alcohol free one. Cans almost identical apart from gold or silver trim. First drink I've had since November and boy did I know it, looks like I'll be a cheap date once baby arrives Wink

@ButtonMoon that really made me smile!

After a scary start everything seems ok for us. The viability scan was fine and we recently had the 12 week scan which was also fine. We’re starting to feel like we can get excited!

How’s everyone else doing at the moment?

Laura207 · 10/03/2019 10:55

I'm about to start my first unmedicated IUI cycle, feel excited but trying to keep expectations in check ! Keep trying to tell myself it works for other people so there's a chance for me too!

TinyPaws · 14/03/2019 18:56

So pleased everything is going well for everyone.

I read this thread from time to time but no longer comment - I no longer feel like I really belong as after 3 pregnancy losses my story is looking very different to everyone else's.

Muckipup · 15/03/2019 12:33

Tinypaws so sorry about all your losses - it's difficult to keep hope alive isn't it? I find hope to be the most painful part tbh
I recognise your name as I've lurked on the infertility boards for a few years. I've also had 3 mc, but am currently 6w with 1st DE cycle. I've had dark brown spotting for the past 2 weeks which is how the other mcs started - god, what a mindfuck. Early scan is end of next week so I'm keeping on swallowing/injecting/inserting the drugs in the hope there is still something going on in there. My last mc was septic and I can't help thinking the drugs are just prolonging the inevitable, and it's gone bad, but my body won't let go of it.
I hope you get some answers from any investigations they can do x

OneMoreWish · 15/03/2019 16:23

@TinyPaws don't feel disheartened honey and you are very much part of this group - it's here to support everyone's journey however long/short they may be.

If you have read some of the old threads - I hope you can take some hope from one ( if not the actual) is the founders of the group @kwick . She had changed her name now but had a toughing long journey with some tough choices but has a lovely little one now.

It's so hard after each bfn cycle or loss but keep sharing as there are others going through the same hurt and disappointment and we are here to help each other through and be a sounding board for when you are down. It's a slightly different journey to most and I think it's that one thing in common that really helps us all xxxxxx

TinyPaws · 15/03/2019 20:27

Everything crossed that this pregnancy works out for you @Muckiup!

Thanks @OneMoreWish, I remember @kwick - I've been here that long!

Experiment627 · 15/03/2019 20:46

It is I, Kwick!!!!

I do indeed have a wonderful little Kwicklet who will be 6 months old on Monday. He was treatment number 11, and I sadly had two miscarriages on the way.

It was tough, really tough, but absolutely worth it. Kwicklet is my sun, moon and the stars and I would not be without him.

All I can say is dreams can come true 😍

TinyPaws · 15/03/2019 22:04

Bloody hell 11 treatments! I'm feeling jaded after 4!

So you mind me asking if you did anything differently for your successful treatment/pregnancy?

OneMoreWish · 15/03/2019 22:48

@Experiment627 hello! I love hearing updates from you!! Yay to little kwicklett :) gosh that time has flown I remember first reading about the birth of your son like it was last week or something! Oh my. And I forgot just how many treatments/ cycles you went through! My hat off to you and I am so glad for you that you kept going as it sounds like absolutely right thing for you!

I hope you are still off work and when you go back ( if you go back!?!) it's less stressful for you.

( its @TreasureInMyTummy / @hopingForALittleOne here)
My little one is 15 months now and I am 5 months pregnant with my next one ( same donor luckily). Been a bit more worrisome this pregnancy with several red bleeds and low lying placenta which hasn't moved yet but I'm staying positive and doing the lottery regularly as my plan A to give up work haha

Love seeing updates from @Pez82 and @pickle162 and others as well. Anyone still in touch with @newshoes? She always gave the most amazing advice?

Xx

pickle162 · 15/03/2019 23:10

@OneMoreWish /treasure, so pleased you managed to get pregnant with no2, hope next few months are less stressful

Yes we still keep in touch with newshoes which is lovely and a few of the others originals

Xx

OneMoreWish · 15/03/2019 23:26

Hi @pickle162 :) say hello from me!

I don't know how I would have got through the cycles without everyone's support and advice :) love that this thread is still going.

Fingers crossed for those starting treatments / twot soon and hugs to those of us who are picking themselves up again ready for next steps/cycle/decision/bank drain xxx

Experiment627 · 16/03/2019 09:38

@TinyPaws yes I did!!!! I moved to a different FC and used donor eggs. Best decision ever. All my misgivings disappeared as I learnt about epigenetics.

@OneMoreWish unfortunately I have not won lottery so will be returning to work but hopefully we will have moved before then and we have get better organised. Kwicklet has hopeful a place at a wonderful nursery. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I am in touch with Shoes and will pass on your comments 😘

My very best wishes to those of you still trying!
