Tomorrow I move into my own flat.

After being totally abandoned by stbxh back in January, selling the house and living in a friend's spare room since April, my and my little cat are moving into a tiny little flat tomorrow that I managed to buy.

I'm absolutely cacking it about living alone for the first time at 40, but know it needs to be done.

It's been a long road to get here and the support I've received on MN for the last 9 months has been phenomenal. Just wanted to drop this little post to let people know that it's not easy but it DOES get better. There's light at the end of the tunnel!

Congratulations! Just think about all the good things about having a small flat. quick and easy to clean, low utility bills, low maintenance.

Make that flat as cozy and beautiful as you can and it will be your haven, your safe and happy place.

Be careful about men who need somewhere to live lovebombing you going forward 😃

Many years ago I left an idiot, controlling EX - the day I got the keys to my little Flat was amazing! Loved every minute, even if I had no furniture for a while

Congratulations OP. I hope you and your little cat will be really happy in your new flat. I moved into mine 5 years ago after the break up of my 26 year relationship. It’s still bliss having my own space.

🤣 congratulations for getting away. I felt exactly the same when I got away from an abusive arse hole and then 10 years later I met my now DH and have a gorgeous 2 year old which I honestly never thought I'd have. Definitely stay single at moment and take time for yourself. The future will be there and you never know where life's going to take you and all the amazing people you could meet along the way. Just enjoy yourself, you 100% deserve it 😊

I was you two years ago this October, newly divorced and moving out alone - I’m now WFH in my cosy, tidy flat, full of my artwork and quirky furniture and books and crafty bits, knowing it’s my safe space. Once you get used to it, living along is BLISS. I’m likely to move in with DP in the next few years and I’ve already insisted that I have my own study/shed/space to just BE.

You will be fine - better than fine! 🙂

I feel sad because this is the second time he'll have moved since April and he's just got settled here, but at least now he'll have a home for life.
