The rolling Football thread (2012-2013)

The rolling Football thread for Season '12-13 might as well start off with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread:

There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/(Euro 2012?)

(I)fergie(I) had to win a signing battle...

I just glad we're not waving silly money to be honest, it's the old adage I try to teach ds on ebay...not at any price. Just because you've got it doesn't mean it's to be thrown away! If that's honestly why fergie has bought him then it's for all the wrong reasons.

I do think it will be a sound investment

Northernexile · 17/08/2012 22:04

Hello I want to join in!

  1. Manchester United
  2. Liverpool. To a lesser extent, Chelsea. Never hated City really, although I cannot stand Nasri, so that's not helping now. Grudging admirer of Balotelli cos he's a proper mentalist.
  3. DD has no choice. I now live in Ireland, so everyone we know also supports United. Apart from DH- he's a half-hearted Liverpool fan, but he's more into Gaelic football, so I overrule him when it comes to 'soccer'.
  4. Thoughts on the season- it's going to be another close one!
laracroft2001 · 17/08/2012 22:07

And fan... What would you have said if city got him???Wink

BelfastBloke · 17/08/2012 22:07

Hang on. What's with all these ManUre fans popping up?

Didn't we have a ban on them or summat?

laracroft2001 · 17/08/2012 22:07

Northern... I agree with you about balotelli.. Mentalist... Can't help but love him in a sort of wrong way

laracroft2001 · 17/08/2012 22:08

Hahaha Belfast once one comes out the woodwork we all show our face Smile

Northernexile · 17/08/2012 22:10

We are trying to redress the Arsenal imbalance that appeared to be going on!

BelfastBloke · 17/08/2012 22:10

Fuck off back to Surrey.

OP posts:
KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/08/2012 22:11

Checking in - your lot first BB!!

Northernexile · 17/08/2012 22:11

Where's Surrey? Anyway aren't you in, er, Belfast? Grin

BelfastBloke · 17/08/2012 22:15

Be afraid, KenDodd, be very afraid.

The power of Mo Farah will be unleashed (at half time).

Honestly Lara, the same. Hey, don't forget you're talking to the fool who missed her beloved first born going his very first game over some silly protest over a player! I don't love all things that pass through our gates.

I agree he is a talent but I do think sense and weighing up age and how likely to play has got to be a consideration.

laracroft2001 · 17/08/2012 22:19

Ok I'll let you off :)

fanoftheinvisibleman · 17/08/2012 22:20

It's a little bit similar to how I feel about Balotelli. The guy is awesome and just headcase enough to be loveable but if Mancini can't reign him in soon then I'd sooner see him replaced. He's going to end up a liability if he's left allowed to go unchecked.

BB but we will party with Marty, you'll see.

Starshaped · 17/08/2012 22:22

Hello - can I join?

  1. Everton
  2. Liverpool. Obviously.
  3. She won't have much choice. The whole family are blue, and DH has banned any red from the wardrobe Wink
  4. Fingers crossed for a better start than normal. I'm getting sick of our slow burner status, although I fear a season opener against United isn't going to help...
Northernexile · 17/08/2012 22:28

I'll let you off then BB! But for the record I've never been to Surrey!

mankyscotslass · 18/08/2012 09:39

And the tension builds... To prepare properly we are watching the final game of the season again tonight. Grin

BelfastBloke · 18/08/2012 11:11

Just off to the Arsenal stadium. Beautiful sunny day, three decent new signings, a parade of Olympic medallists at half-time. Happy days.

Opinions on the first day of the season?

Liverpool are disappointing, to say the least. Not good for Arsenal either.

Michu looks promising for Swansea though.

Roll on Super Sunday - Come on City!
