Probably? Fingers crossed?
If a team gets sent home with two positive tests it may end up being more a test of avoiding the 'rona than cycling!

Never mind the Yates twins (triplets?) I think this thread will be proud to find that I only have 214 places to go and I will be the triumphant lantern rouge of the entire Velogames competition!

Wow Mr Slant that would be some achievement.

I'm still bobbling along close to the rear, despite having Alaphillipe, Bardot and Bernal in my team Confused

I'm most disappointed with Calmjane Wink

IDontMindMarmite · 06/09/2020 08:17

Wow @prettybird that seems very unfair! Somehow i'm hanging onto 6th place, despite Philippe Gilbert crapping out on the first day.

IDontMindMarmite · 06/09/2020 08:19

Does anyone else feel like Yates is treated like a non GC contender really? By commentators. Like Tejay Van Garderen. He's wearing yellow but no one expects him to win or even really be on the podium.

IDontMindMarmite · 06/09/2020 08:32

Having said that, I fully expect him to lose yellow soon enough and ultimately the podium.

MrSlant · 06/09/2020 09:15

He's always had the initial legs but then loses steam IIRC, how are the covid levels doing in France? Haven't heard any more reports of in-house testing coming up positive but I wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of a French team came up positive and the news was gently brushed under a carpet of leaves.

Pan2 · 06/09/2020 09:31

Young Yates doesn't seem to talk about himself as a GC contender, though.

Chapeau on the 214 people to beat Mr. Surely there is an ultimate lantern rouge to fight for? Doing the Lotto draw I do it in lots of 3 lines, so 18 numbers and yet always manage to avoid all of the winning numbers. A rare skill.

Pan2 · 06/09/2020 09:36

prettybird - with Alaphillipe out of GC, then doesn't that leave him free to do a bit of stage-grabbing? Do QuickStep want him for anything else?
And do we know what happened to him at all?

EndoplasmicReticulum · 06/09/2020 12:15

Was a bit sketchy corona-wise up the tops of the mountains yesterday as riders going through a load of un-masked spectators getting really close and yelling in their faces.
I know that happens every year, but this year it's particularly stupid.

IDontMindMarmite · 06/09/2020 13:04

That's true MrSlant, he hasn't had the legs for a 3 week tour histotically.
MrMarmite tells me that according to Cycling news, if 3 riders test positive for Corona, the whole thing could be cancelled. All the more reason to cover it up Grin

prettybird · 06/09/2020 13:23

As has been suggested on here: if a Frenchman gets into the yellow jersey at the end of the 2nd way, then the 3 positive CV tests will no doubt follow Hmm

EndoplasmicReticulum · 06/09/2020 20:08

I've lost 2 of my team now. There may not be anyone left by Paris!

OP posts:
EndoplasmicReticulum · 06/09/2020 20:10

Or maybe not, thought I had someone who abandoned but made last minute change so didn't have them after all. Oh for an edit post function.

OP posts:
MrSlant · 06/09/2020 22:13

prettybird I think you may be on to something there Grin

Now only 125 places off lantern rouge, may actually be gutted if one of my team has a spectacular stage off the back of the rest day.

Pan that is truly a skill.

Endo I hadn't even thought of the whole insane mountain spectator behaviour through the lens of covid, it used to drive me crazy before but now I suspect I'll need blood pressure medication to get through a mountain stage. Such idiots.

prettybird · 07/09/2020 10:40

Still trundling long third from the bottom. HmmBike

I had high hopes of de Gendt early on in the stage but he let me down Wink

Pan2 · 07/09/2020 10:57

Anyone up for Tirenno-Adriatico on velogames? Deadline is in the next couple of hours. G and Froomey are going for it.

Pan2 · 07/09/2020 11:01

oh and The Yates Bros too....

BikeBikeBike------Bike

Olinguito · 07/09/2020 11:50

Just had a go at submitting a team Mr Pan but missed the deadline Sad Ah well, just as well I haven't cursed anyone.

Pan2 · 07/09/2020 12:46

Oh damn Olinguito. I've cursed Yates Bros, Fuglsang, Ackerman and Rohan Dennis among others. Left G and Froome alone, which is a good sign for them....

Pan2 · 07/09/2020 15:04

Sprint finish at M-A.

  1. Ackerman 2. Gaviria. The sprinters in my team, whoops! Good boys.

Olinguito · 07/09/2020 21:49

Not sure where I got 'Mr Pan' from - sorry Pan2 ! Good choices so far!

Now we just have to wait to hear who has tested positive for Covid at the Tour ...

prettybird · 07/09/2020 22:19

....all those mountain spectators "supporting" them by shouting in their faces HmmSad

prettybird · 08/09/2020 13:17

So Christian Prudhomme is the only person who tested positive! Hmm

EndoplasmicReticulum · 08/09/2020 13:31

The French PM was in his car the other day when he came to visit and say how safe it all was.....there were a few teams who had one staff member test positive, too. Just one each.
