Probably? Fingers crossed?
If a team gets sent home with two positive tests it may end up being more a test of avoiding the 'rona than cycling!

I think they'll keep going until someone French gets into yellow and then call the whole thing off due to COVID Grin I've selected my team accordingly.

prettybird · 29/08/2020 10:42

Good thinking! I do have Calmejane in my team Wink

MrSlant · 29/08/2020 11:17

I too have Calmejane in my team. Because it's just such an ace name Grin

Pan2 · 29/08/2020 11:39

Ooohhh the cynicism! Probs true though!

Our first thread bike sign...Bike

Back on the road!

Pan2 · 29/08/2020 11:42

Do we know where DA may be?

IDontMindMarmite · 29/08/2020 16:35

A very 2020 start to the Tour.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 29/08/2020 16:52

I'm waiting for the highlights and trying to avoid spoilers. A 2020 start could mean anything - murder hornets? Road turning to jelly? Aliens beaming up half the peloton?

I picked my team and when I tried to add it to the mini league all I got was ENTRIES CLOSED. It was 1248. Bugger. Missed it by a full three minutes.

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2020 19:45

@Pan2 I'm here!! to all. Just happened to see the thread in Active.

I'm joining DoctorTwo on the too late for the league bench sadly, but it's great to have a thread going.

FelicityLemon · 30/08/2020 07:46

@DramaAlpaca @DoctorTwo shame to have two DNFs so early in the race :bike:

I'm also doing an online film festival this weekend so I only saw an hour of it live then caught up later. Unluckily I caught the hour when they were going very slowly in the driving rain. As to my team's performance ... at least I'm not Lanterne Rouge ...

Pan2 · 30/08/2020 10:15

Morning DA, and DoctorTwo. Dam - I imagine you watched us roll out as you ran chasing down the road with an entry form, zut alors.

Like Felicity I saw an hour of slow riding in sleeting rain. So just going to watch the ITV highlights, of crashes and rashes?

prettybird · 30/08/2020 10:28

I see I've scored a dazzling zero GrinBike

IDontMindMarmite · 30/08/2020 10:52

I think that's an achievement in itself @prettybird Grin

prettybird · 30/08/2020 10:59

I've always liked the colour red Wink

Pan2 · 30/08/2020 15:27

I think I've selected a Cav. Van Aert is a sprinter in a GC team...oh well.

This stage is looking A LOT better than yesterday re H&S. Happy they are about to descend in the dry.

MrSlant · 30/08/2020 21:39

Yes! Back in the coveted wooden spoon position, if you are going to be bad make sure to be really, really bad.

Annual apologies to my team choices for dooming them to three weeks (if they are lucky) of falling off in random incidents scuppering theirs and anyone near them's chances.

Pan2 · 30/08/2020 21:58

Those beautiful, beautiful switch backs! And snaking, fluid riders tracing their way down. Maybe as many switches as the D'Huez....not sure who to check with...Grin Excellent stage, with what Julien Alaphillipe would arguably state "proper normal service has been resumed." Except in French.

And like snakes and ladders switches I've gone from 2nd last to 2nd first. "Remarkable, incredible...and frankly unbelievable! Off to the test tent...."

prettybird · 30/08/2020 22:08

Jumping up through the field, thanks to Alaphilippe SmileBike

IDontMindMarmite · 31/08/2020 07:30

My apologies to Philippe Gilbert for including him in my team and thus totally jinxing him leading to crashing out on his first day.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 31/08/2020 09:40

Really enjoyed yesterday. I love Alaphilippe, he's such a racer (and on my team!) and good to see Adam Yates in good form.

Everything crossed for echelons this week!

Pan2 · 31/08/2020 10:05

After the madness of the first 2 days the riders will surely love a nice quiet lumpy stage, where a break away forms in the first 10 km and then absolutely nothing happens for the next 4 hours!
"How was today dear?"
"Oooh, quiet. Bit of a fuss toward home time." Bike

FelicityLemon · 31/08/2020 11:44

Slow and hopefully steady climb up the ranks for my motley crew.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 31/08/2020 20:09

Bike I'm getting into yellow early in the hope we don't do the whole 3 weeks!

OP posts:
FelicityLemon · 01/09/2020 10:50

My hope was misplaced! Am now bringing up the rear.

Pan2 · 01/09/2020 11:15

It's a long ole drag Felicity. "There's many a slip...." no, really.

Hear Boardman tipping Adam Y to stage win today. AY does have such a distinctive riding style, doesn't he? Is he fairly small? Keeps his shoulders fairly rigid and looks extremely efficient in pedaling. Can pick him out in a pack easily.
