I love Rod S's singing, but I don't think he has a great voice...

Yes to Judy Garland and Eva Cassidy.

Dare I mention Sting? I know he's a prat but he has a good voice.

Tatties · 01/02/2007 21:14

Ok, I like Sandie Shaw. The people I didn't really want to mention are the likes of Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey...

Can I just clarify that I do not like the aforesaid harridans

expatinscotland · 01/02/2007 21:19

Dolly Parton.

lucykate · 01/02/2007 21:19

best male voice, bono
best female voice, agnetha from abba

also like,

karen carpenter
billie holiday
nat king cole

i remember watching a programme about freddie mercury and the concert after he'd died when loads of other singers joined queen. george michael was saying how hard some of their songs were to sing due to freddie's incredible vocal range.

I think Bono gets a hell of a lot of credit just for his line in Do They Know It's Christmas.

Otherwise agree with all lucykate's nominations.

And I said Dolly P first, so ner.

2nervesleft · 01/02/2007 21:24

I love Alison Moyet's voice. So deep and rich but still identifiable as female.
