I like chocolate but deep fried battered chocolate didn’t float my boat. Had in Edinburgh years ago.

dd showed me an influencer so made a giant creme egg with the spread from Aldi Envy Not envy!

I got a mysterious credit to my bank account today €1.74 from virgin media & I was baffled, they were the provider of phone bf had while he was in hospital and hadn’t the capacity to use his iPhone. Like Tesco say every little helps.

I haven’t done a grocery shop in over a week and a proper one was even longer. Bought a topup shop on Tues Eve to get me through. Today’s lunch is three slices of bacon a sad tomato on brown.

dc were at their dads Fri to yesterday.

Fuel protests in Ireland continue to cause chaos. They’ve blocked the refineries now so fuel stations will run out of fuel in next day or two. I filled mine on tues €84, wasn’t empty and would normally be approx €15 cheaper.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2026 08:30

Urgh deep fried anything

What would you even pair them with? I am intrigued by them but don't think I would ever eat them! Can't imagine chips with it.

BigSkies2022 · 09/04/2026 10:14

thanks for new thread! Another fine day. I have just begun making my first batch of ice cream- the milk is infusing with vanilla pod as I write!

I think I should leave deep fried chocolate bars alone. Have managed not to ever eat a Krispy Kreme doughnut or a KFC in my life to date. Some things best left alone!

Peaceful morning making icecream and ironing, then taking mum back to podiatrist. I won’t be home until after 7 so DH sorting dinner. Ddog seems much better and more settled- I was really concerned he might be getting dementia, which is a spaniel thing apparently.

And yes, my parents really have been married 67 years, although there have been many times when I have thought that I know divorced couples with better marriages than them.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2026 14:23

£33.75 Aldi
£23 the range
£29 to mam for compost & bark

I’m feeling average today. 4 seizures yesterday in all. Increased meds today

67 years that's absolutely incredible ❤️

Also ... No KFC?? 😲

RumBananaSundae · 09/04/2026 19:37

£6.60 in Sainsbury on soda crystals and a few odd bits. It was on a gift card so not sure if that counts.

What kind of ice cream are you making @BigSkies2022?

How are you doing @lifelongfrugaleer? Sorry you’re having to deal with it. Hope the meds help.

I was going to change my username for this thread but it was effort I didn’t have. Not been feeling too well. I’ve been trying to make it up to my holiday and then crash in my beautiful Paris hotel but got ready to go to the gym this morning then got undressed and back into bed. It’s going to be a long six days.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/04/2026 20:08

Going back to bed when feeling ill is the best plan. Rest of just as important.
Fed up tbh this week. Will be ok again in a minute

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 09/04/2026 20:21

Evening everyone 😊
Been to see Mum who was ok again today thank God 🙏.
Came home and fell asleep in the sofa for a couple of hours . DH did the lawns and we both fell asleep this afternoon. Woke up too late to cook so we treated ourselves to a Chinese £30 and it was delicious 😋.
@RumBananaSundae it's too much faff to change our usernames l find these days that l have to have a motivation to do it 🤣. Aw Bless you feeling poorly l hope you are feeling better very soon sweetheart 💐
My God that is very disciplined of you @BigSkies2022well fine that is so impressive and you aren't missing out either 👏🤗 67 years is amazing 😍
Aw @lifelongfrugaleerthats awful for you. l am so sorry sweetheart. l hope these increased meds will work well for you asap 💐
That Aldi spread looked dangerous to me @Happierwithouthim l nearly succumbed but sense prevailed 🤣
Strange the credit but yes every bit helps . Oh no! l haven't heard about the fuel blockades with you l hope that is all sorted out very quickly 🙏
God knows what you would pair with deep fried choc eggs @DeepFriedCreamEgg but there was a thing going around about dipping McDonald's chips into their milk shakes 🤪🤢 🤣 whatever floats your boat 😱

Nothing, they were dessert after our fish suppers!

Expensive day thanks to DS, £50 jeans and £70 hoody that he absolutely had to have apparently, and £20 for something he desperately needed for his skateboard.

I've opened a new bank account with the Royal Bank of Scotland- I've lived here 2 years, why not! I'll get £150 for the switch too. And they have pots! My main reason for switching. First Direct really are missing a beat not having pots.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 09/04/2026 21:44

@DirtyGertiefromno30 It's a bloody good combo! Got to be extra salty though.

MyAgileHedgehog · 09/04/2026 21:55

Hey peeps... Unescorted on another device but I cannot be bovvered to pick it up off the floor. It has been a while since my last confession.

I am now retired. Unfortunately I have developed a mid century furniture habit. Cheaper than buying new sofas.... A little bit.

Aldi.. £130... That should be ok for 2 weeks with a couple of fresh vegetable top ups. We are now a household of 2 so a huge saving now the kids have moved out.

MyAgileHedgehog · 09/04/2026 21:56

Mc Donald's fries with old school chocolate sundae is the bomb...

Lockin26 · 10/04/2026 00:06

Thanks for the new thread @DirtyGertiefromno30 didn't change my username after all.

£46 Lidl
£33.95 Amazon new garden hose.

Love the username @DeepFriedCreamEgg guessed it was you!

Fascinated by the deep fried chocolate chat - I'm in the NE and it's not something I know people get? I'll be checking out menus next time we get a takeaway🍴

The Irish fuel blockages was reported on the News Agents podcast tonight. Reminiscent of the one in the early 2000s in England. I need fuel tomorrow - even Costco has gone up now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/04/2026 07:17

Welcome back agile

Holidaysandchocolate · 10/04/2026 08:20

Thanks for the new thread gertie and glad your Dmum is well again.

I’ve well and truly fallen off posting on the thread again. Since I last posted, I think I have done two weeks in my other new job and been on holiday. Loving both of my new jobs, the people I work with are just so nice!

We had a great cruise. Instead of coming back having spent loads, we came back with cash as one of our port stops were cancelled. We’d paid for an excursion, which would have been rubbish in poor weather anyway, so got £350 refunded which I’d paid ages ago. And we have put in the insurance claim for the missed port stop which should be £600 back too (4 people). Our end of cruise bill was less than £1, as we managed the onboard credit frugally 😁 I might have to research another holiday with these funds 😂

Sorry to hear about the delay towards returning to drive life and being unwell too.
