British Gas payment for heating costs

I pay British Gas by direct debit. Their website says I will receive £66 into the bank account I pay from a few days after my direct debit is paid. I paid on the 1st October and still nothing . Has anybody else received theirs ?

Think BG must have got fed up with the questions because they’ve changed the wording overnight from miscellaneous document!!

Just to update. I am on a meter with British Gas and received a voucher today for 67 pound 🤗

My DD was paid on the 7th and today my BG account shows a £66 credit has been applied but it doesn't show a £66 refund going out yet.

I'm actually quite pleased that there is a slight delay in them updating the account because it means that my overall account was showing an even larger credit and their stupid system has finally allowed me to reduce my DD to something that more reflects my energy spend. I'm currently in credit for £940 having only used about £450 in this billing period. I really wish we could change suppliers but no one else seems to be taking new people on.

Still nothing in mine despite paying the DD on the 4th. BG saying they can't do anything about it I just have to wait.

Have you thought about changing to monthly billing with a variable DD, only paying what is exactly due each month? No big credits or debits accruing then.
I am with British Gas and pay both fuels this way.

Just seen that British Gas have put £66 in my bank account. Weird. I would rather they had kept it in my British Gas account to put towards heavier winter bills. I guess I can just ping it back to them as a one off payment.

Took me a while to get through on the phone but try that if you are able to tie up a mobile on hold whilst you do something else

If it helps I was told mine would be done by the 26th and then in a bit after. They've obviously got a lot to go through. I was also told it wouldn't take as long next month but we shall see! I went into the chat function via a different topic than bills in the end. I never got anyone when I clicked the relevant one! I still can't see anything so just have to wait and hope the 26th is accurate....

Just checked my bank account and it showed £66 paid in by British Gas, so I made transfer to my British Gas account. But there's also a credit payment on there of £66 made on the 10th of October. Unless I'm missing something, it looks like I've received a payment to my bank account and my energy account. Anyone else confused?

@Justmuddlingalong I think it goes into the British Gas account as a credit from the government and then they refund your bank. So in theory it would show twice? I feel like the amount of calls I've had to make I know this process intimately!!

Can anyone tell me how long they have waited for the £66 to show in their bank account? My direct debit came off on the 21st and still waiting. My gas and electricity bills have gone up so unfortunately the £66 is needed to pay other bills Sad.

Our direct debit left our account on 03/10 and we are also still waiting for our £66 to either be credited to our account or paid into our bank account. So over 3 weeks

That’s ridiculous. Luckily I do get paid on Monday but likely now will have another direct debit bounce back tomorrow. Annoyed at myself now for believing that the money would be refunded a few days later.
