British Gas payment for heating costs

I pay British Gas by direct debit. Their website says I will receive £66 into the bank account I pay from a few days after my direct debit is paid. I paid on the 1st October and still nothing . Has anybody else received theirs ?

No credits showing on either of my BG accounts either. Predictably messaging isn't available.

Nothing in bank account and no credit on electricity account here either.

Duel fuel with eon. Was under the impression from recent letters, that the credit goes on your meter account at the supplier end. So, if like us, you pay monthly for what you use - £48 last month that would mean that the difference is credit on the account going forward ie, we are building a small surplus of credit month on month.

However, muppet here should have checked when the DD left the bank account which was only 2 days ago so I was probably a bit unfair on BG there.

British Gas credited my account earlier this week.

I don't have a DD so they just put it into my credit account.

Thats the gov money being credited to your account.

I have that plus 'Outgoing payments' which will be the DD being refunded. Based on last time British Gas refunded me money I expect it to hit my bank account on Tuesday.

Yes mine shows as this but not in the bank yet if it’s also out going. Dd is definitely higher haha

Im with bulb. They added £66 oct 1 to my account so it’s in credit. Payment comes out on 8th so today

dd is still the same as I pay same amount all year round so hoping can use heating a bit in winter as obv paid £260 a month when bills much lower

We will get an e-voucher on the 11th of the month that you take to your nearest post office

That’s brilliant. I’ve got a meter with a payment stick however the letter they sent start of this week said we would get a voucher sent to us either way can’t wait to receive a huge huge help!

£66 in my bank account this morning. I'm with BG dual fuel and pay by direct debit.

Indeed, the £66 credited to my BG Energy account has now been removed and bank account now showing £66 pending instead.

Looks like they realised their mistake and corrected.

To those that have received it into their bank / it's pending, when do you pay your direct debit? I still have neither, but there is a random pending for £57.10 which is baffling me. I wonder if that's an adjustment as I've paid too much (just had a bill). Thank you!

There's a big discussion on Twitter about this - loads of furious BG customers wanting to know. I checked my BG account and it appears they credit my energy account with £66 but then also deducted it. According to their website, once this happens, it will then go into your bank account 3-5 working days later.

I wonder if the government is applying it as a credit directly to accounts and then BG is transferring it to bank accounts? In this way the government is not handing a massive wad of cash to suppliers which they can make interest on (even if it's just for a few days). Just a guess!!

But judging by the replies on Twitter, quite a lot of people are getting something like the attached image. A credit going in to the account and a credit going out. Weird!

I have an outgoing payment of £97 not £66. What is going on?

I had figured the £66 each month into my spreadsheet for the household accounts. I've gone into my British Gas account and decreased my electricity payments by £66 each month up to and including February, and then I'll put it up again.

That makes it as broad as its long but their email was very deceptive in that it said I would received a payment each month into my bank account a few days after my electricity payment was made. Why send out lies? And then not send out corrective emails...

Have a look at the PDF of your bill. My random £57.10 is on the bill as a refund as I've paid too much for my electricity. So this is separate to the rebate from the government. As your bill has come at the same time that would probably explain it. The good news is that is extra money!

My direct debit doesn't come out until the 5th so I'll sit tight for the £66 a bit longer and keep my eye on it.

£66 has gone in my bank account . Hurrah!

With Octopus and pay £350 dd each month. Octopus deducted £66 off of my dd.

Ours has also hit the bank today.
