@Gingerwarthog if you can’t find it let me know and I’ll take a pic

i didn’t realize the funeral is literally on all day,

Thanks!
Found it and about to make it while there's a break in ceremonies. DD is glued to it and has massive admiration for Princess Anne because she fought off a would be kidnapper back in the day.

Gingerwarthog · 19/09/2022 14:31

@needastrongoneagain
Yes - we totally rely on the allotment.
Weirdly I get resentful now when I have to buy apples, rhubarb, courgettes or runner beans!
I know what you mean about having to be a bit more creative in meal planning though...

Gensola · 19/09/2022 15:08

wolf omg those are things of beauty!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 16:04

And the corgis got me, I have something in my way eye,

honestly it’s got e more than I thought today but tbf ANY funeral make me well up,
unresolved grief issues

Gingerwarthog · 19/09/2022 16:06

And Emma the pony.
The pipes get me too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 16:23

I missed Emma the pony. Was that the queen’s house?

Wolfcub · 19/09/2022 16:26

Life, yes the queen's horse, stood looking in as she came through the gates. That and the corgis has done me

OP posts:
Gingerwarthog · 19/09/2022 16:26

Yes. They brought her out to see the hearse go past with her grooms.
DD and I weeping at that point.

Gingerwarthog · 19/09/2022 16:27

Sorry Wolf - cross posted. X

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 16:29

Gotcha , yup I’m off

WeightoftheWorld · 19/09/2022 16:35

NSD here today. May manage tomorrow too but not sure as I might need a few bits for tomorrow's dinner. I seem to have a lot of food in at the moment in the freezer and tins but it's all random stuff that doesnt actually make any proper meals.

Gensola · 19/09/2022 16:51

Thanks for the warning - if I see the corgis It will finish me off 😅 will wait til I’m feeling more robust. Have been napping most of day and watching stuff in between. Think this is the turning point he said where I’d feel extra rubbish then start to feel better. I hope so anyway!

ThisisCollie2022 · 19/09/2022 16:52

How do people name dark coloured uniform? We've traditionally used sewn labels but the school has noticed these are being ripped out and things are being taken 😳 we can't afford £12 school jumpers and 2 new ones have already been "lost"

I'm thinking a white grout pen and just write in huge letters? Is that extreme? 🤣

Gensola · 19/09/2022 16:54

You can get white fabric pens collie that set into the fabric when ironed I think. I’d worry grout pen might leech through the fabric?

ThisisCollie2022 · 19/09/2022 17:00

Good point gen, I'll be patient and order one from Amazon! Xx

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 17:28

We use Sticktins. But No good off being ripped off, do you have a light colored sharpie in the house? Try that

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 17:53

Didn’t get half as much done as planned, got sucked in

mustbefunny · 19/09/2022 17:53

😋 @Wolfcub those cheese scones look amazing!

I've just made a huge amount of butter from 2 pints of double cream I had frozen - it's the first time I've done it, really easy! - and I now have buttermilk as well which I've just read is good in cheese scones!

😭 the corgis ❤️

@ThisisCollie2022 how about stitching a distinguishing mark like a little red x on the cuff? As a non sewer I have no idea if this would be a complete faff!

needastrongoneagain · 19/09/2022 18:29

Yep - downloaded the Trolley app, but doesn't seem quite accurate. And can't see Lidl prices on it, but not spent ages browsing in truth,

Wolf. Those scones! Wow. Air fryer?

Fingers crossed for you gen.

I thought the whole period from The Queen arriving at Windsor and the lowering of the coffin really quite emotional in truth,

Tired tonight but leftovers for tea, plus made a cauliflower cheese with peas so sorted.

Unlikely to move far off the sofa now though.

needastrongoneagain · 19/09/2022 18:29

Can't believe you made butter funny!

Wolfcub · 19/09/2022 18:37

Need, yes airfryer on the bake option (sure we have the same model)

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 19/09/2022 18:38

It was when they took her crown that it really got me. It felt wrong, and final

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 19/09/2022 18:42

I don’t have a bake mode as I have a cheap one.
The processions were lovely. Ikwym about the crown being taken and the splitting of the stick.

windsor felt more personal I think but those steps 😬

needastrongoneagain · 19/09/2022 19:00

wolf, we do have the same model. If definitely going to try those!

Socathe · 19/09/2022 19:33

Been catching up on the thread, sorry for no individual replies, I find it hard to keep up! But lovely to read all your updates.

Back from Wales today, we were actually due to come home tomorrow but thought we would take advantage of the bank holiday traffic (or lack of) as literally nowhere would be open anyway. We had only planned to stay at the Airbnb and watch the funeral so thought we may as well get on the road early and watch it at home. I haven't been watching closely but it's been on in the background. Have managed to fully unpack and get a wash load on today.

I'm off the rest of this week still but a busy few weeks at work coming up as I'm on a full time training course until mid October (usually work part time). Want to be super organised with food etc so we're not tempted with takeaways and popping into shops for convenience food. I've done an Aldi click and collect to pick up Wednesday, £65. That's hopefully all meals etc for the next two ish weeks, with the odd top up here and there. I do need to pop to Tesco for the bits Aldi don't have. It's DH's birthday next week and I've planned a three course meal to cook him, we considered takeaway but to be honest after our holiday we're both spent out and fooded out, fancy cutting back with both spending and eating for a few weeks!

NSD today, much needed after a week of spending.

Worked out our total spends for the holiday, £637. This includes all of our petrol (both to Wales and back and driving every day in Wales), a big £114 food shop before we went, and several big days out, so I think this is quite good really. Some of our spending also fits into other budgets for example I usually would have spent £80 on a weekly food shop, usually would have spent £80 on petrol for work etc, so it's not too bad. We had the odd takeaway and one meal out but cooked quite a few meals too so think that helped. To be honest it suits us as DS who's 3 is usually shattered by 4pm after a day out so we're quite happy to be back chilling at the Airbnb!
