Aw Gen you are welcome, it's a lovely little haven for us especially if things are getting to you . The members are so sweet l have never seen a cross word there just oodles of loving support ❤️😊
Life l must have a look out for that thank you 😊

marthasmum · 06/11/2022 16:36

😂 my teens are asking for prime too
they've rated me highly this weekend because I did a shop at the Company shop and came home with lots of unusual snacks. Im going to go there again - I’ve realised they don’t have as many branches as I thought, but some of you may have one near you. They sell stock that would be thrown away that’s about to go out of date. Only open to certain professions eg NHS and those on benefits.
im not quick enough at following everyone’s news I’m afraid but glad to hear yours is good gen.
Decaff it sounds like you have an awful lot on, hope the relaxing night in happened as planned.
spent lots yesterday but all needed - £50ish on mould remover spray and paint for upstairs bathroom. Teens keep showering and not opening the window so that plus having the heating on less is leading to mould. DP has sorted it, he saves us a lot of money being good at stuff like that.
£57 at company shop and a further £78 at Tesco. Overspent on food and petrol this month - around £200 more than planned which is shocking. I’ve decided not to go to Costco any more, it’s not really saving me anything. Done a lot of driving to football and various other social events which has pushed up petrol costs.
I’ve the week off this week which is
very much needed as work has been so busy. I need to turn off my emails completely and stay away from it, Got a few things planned catching up with people which seem to involve a lot of driving, have a full tank though which should see me through til payday.
Gammon and chips for tea (bought a gammon at company shop for £5 which has done us two meals). Need to start planning Xmas, eek.

BigSkies2022 · 06/11/2022 17:48

£22 at butcher yesterday, will generate about 7-8 meals because I'm being tight. Making a sausage spaghetti tonight.

Packed and ready to go to Devon tomorrow to help parents move from their house to a retirement apartment in Kent. Will be a busy week, but an enormous relief to have them safely housed, near us all. Getting this done, plus clearing the decks financially, means I can finally claim 2022 has started for me. In November!

needastrongoneagain · 06/11/2022 18:46

Evening.

A relatively quiet day here. DH on a home visit so £30 accessible taxi but I had some cash already to cover that.

Must menu plan but will wing the next couple of days. Masala frittata tonight with onion bhajis given to me by the taxi driver! Leftovers tomorrow. All good.

Timetoswitch · 06/11/2022 19:15

We’ll be here when you need us decaff. I hope you managed to enjoy your treats yesterday.

that’s good news that DH has been on a home visit need, is it the first one? I hope he enjoyed his time at home

I hope going back to work goes ok north when it arrives.

good news gen, I’m not surprised you cried! I hope his other tests are done quickly and you get an answer soon.

I think I might be becoming mrs miser here. Decided not to buy the normal tins of heroes etc for Christmas as they normally don’t even get eaten until after Christmas. I also got DD1 to try on her Christmas jumper, and as it still just about fits and she’ll probably only wear it for Christmas jumper day, no new jumper this year. DD2 can wear DD1s other outgrown one.

Timetoswitch · 06/11/2022 19:16

I hope your parents move goes well blueskies

Decafflatteplease · 06/11/2022 19:36

Thanks for all the well wishes all.

Had a wonderful day yesterday feel like a new woman was nice to be pampered. And then date night with DH was good too. Still enjoying ghosts thanks again to who recommended it on here can't remember now who it was sorry.

Spendy day of £160 on food but I've filled the fridge and freezer for DH and DC with easy meals for the next few days. Ladies from church will cook once I'm home again and drop meals off each night for us.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/11/2022 07:15

I love the fact you got onion Bhajis from the taxi driver. Are you getting a regular one need?

Good luck with the move of parents
and decaf x
that’s not miser time just very frugal, I always see if the jumpers fit and outgrow ones went to my cousin for her kids this year,
dd wears mine now she’s my size, as we don’t need them on the same day,

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 07/11/2022 08:02

Good morning everyone 😊
That Company shop looks great Martha , like you say they don't have a lot of shops and none in Wales unfortunately.
Well done to your DP too it is such a relief to have someone to rely on to look after the DIY .
Enjoy your week off 🤗
Decaff it sounds as if everything is going as planned, bless the Church ladies . Glad you enjoyed your Spa day ☺️
Life that's an excellent use of the jumpers. I always think it's such a waste because you get fed up of wearing the same design every year so it's a great idea and like you say very frugal! 👏😊
Time well done on the tubs of choc and jumpers , you are right it's a waste , you can guarantee there are always 2 of the chocolates that get left because we don't like them 👏
Need you have a great taxi driver ☺️👏
BigSkies hope it all goes well with your parents move bless you all , lt can be so upsetting moving the parents especially if it was your childhood home as well 💐
Am aiming for a NSD again today , we shall see 🤗
Have a brilliant day everyone 😊

CurlsandCurves · 07/11/2022 08:51

Morning!

@Decafflatteplease so pleased you enjoyed your spa day. And how lovely to have support of the ladies from church.

@BigSkies2022 hope the move goes well and you can finally enjoy the rest of 2022!

Very good news here. Submitted my meter readings and we are £300ish in credit! Such a relief to know that what we are paying is enough. Plan is to keep on being frugal and build up a good amount of credit ready for when goodness knows what will happen in April.

WeightoftheWorld · 07/11/2022 09:44

Sorry, my plans to catch up didn't happen but dipping back in now.

Martha Ooh, never heard of Company Shop before.

Need That sounds delicious.

Curls Well done on the gas/lecky credit!

Sorry to anyone I've rudely not responded to if you've got big things going on, I've only read this last page I'm afraid Flowers.

WFH today, heating kicked in a little bit early morning but not on now. Working on the sofa under my heated blanket. Hands and feet feel cold but otherwise I'm ok, will stick a pair of slipper socks on over my socks. I have some light fingerless gloves I wear in my office job I need to find too. I will have to stick the heating on in a bit though to dry DD's laundry.

Today may be an NSD fingers crossed. Yesterday spends were £8.50 on lunch for me and DS at the play cafe, it was a luxury obviously, but it was good to get him out as he hadn't been out much for the previous few days. Friends own the cafe too and I am a regular, so they very kindly didn't charge me for my coffee either so that was a few quids saving there, bless them. Also bought milk yesterday from Tesco but can't remember how much that was, I don't actually ever look at the price other than buying the cheapest own-brand milk! But it's mostly because I have to buy it so I guess I don't absorb the prices of things that are necessities as I can't really do anything to reduce the cost (other than buying cheapest own brand).

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 07/11/2022 19:49

Evening all Smile
My plans for a NSD didn't come to fruition Smile
We popped to Asda to pick up a parcel from George for Dh. £55 spend
While l was there l had a good look at the essentials range and bought a few things. Have tried their Tortilla chips & their cheese and onion crisps both were very nice and l really couldn't tell the difference tbh.
Bought quite a few things in the range will post as and when we try them.
I picked up a Gino frying pan for 11 and 2 x tin openers for 2.50 each . These were both reduced . The Gino range of cookware has about a third off atm and the frying pan l bought is the 32 cm one.

marthasmum · 08/11/2022 07:28

Thought you would have bought bedding mrs I seem to remember you have a bit of a thing for that 😂
I’ve bought the DC all new bedding as part of Xmas, not sure if it’s for me or them - tbf they are all quite motivated by having their bedrooms look nice.
Well I spent the first day of leave deep cleaning the ground floor of the house. Bathroom today then just our room to go. I’m leaving the DC bedrooms as they do keep reasonably on top of them. We’ve got an old house and the plastering’s bad in places so behind sofas/ furniture, skirting boards etc are the bits that never get cleaned usually and were filthy. DP does the cleaning and I sometimes get the rage that he doesn’t do it as throughly as I would, but tbf he does it. Also he painted the kitchen yesterday while I cleaned.
£6.50 spends yesterday going to the gym with DD and DS1 who’ve just joined. DS1 (16) asked if I could come in 5 mins after so people couldn’t tell he was coming with his mum…I refused 😂

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 08/11/2022 08:48

Good morning everyone 😊
Martha l have tried to reel in my obsession with duvet covers 😂😂😂
However my Dd2 bought me this flanelette duvet cover for our 40th wedding anniversary and it's absolutely divine . I love it so much and l am not even looking at duvet covers because it's so gorgeous ❤️
liar liar pants on fire
😂 well just a little bit 😂
www.primark.com/en-gb/p/christmas-robin-cotton-double-duvet-cover-set-991046839352
Hope everyone has a lovely day 😊 l plan on a NSD but we know how that goes lol 😂

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 08/11/2022 08:49

Well done on all the cleaning too Martha 👍
Your Ds bless him 🤣

northender · 08/11/2022 12:10

I'm with you on the cleaning today Marthas. Going well so far. Had a washing backlog so washer is on constantly, then spin drier, then line for some, airer for others & some tumble dryer in among it all.
I'm going to get bedding sets for the dc at Christmas too.
Having a big financial review at the moment. We've got an offset mortgage on a 5 year fix but also have a loan which is a higher rate so are going to put all effort into getting that paid off.
Dh is going to have the chance to apply for redundancy next year & is keen but depends on the detail of the package (100 pages long!). No guarantee he would get it either but definitely worth looking at.

ememem84 · 08/11/2022 14:06

Haven’t posted for a few days. Been manic here.

I ended up not going to the party on Friday as felt wiped out. So today have taken all the dresses I bought back for refunds.

started Christmas shop today.

bought dsis some Charlotte tilbury lipsticks. And a book each for dm and df.

they’re all getting a voucher for over night stay at a hotel here/spa voucher as well. So that’s easy.

other than that just keeping my head down and ploughing through. Work is slammed. Life is busy. I have an exam next week. Eeeek.

CurlsandCurves · 08/11/2022 15:18

Must be a day for cleaning, I’ve been on it too. Towels and bedding done, bedrooms and bathrooms cleaned. Downstairs didn’t need much but I did go over everywhere and blitzed the conservatory as that really needed doing.

Now chilling in my Oodie with a cuppa and a chocolate cookie. Well, it is our wedding anniversary today so I think I’ve deserved it!

kessiebird · 08/11/2022 15:25

Dropped off a bit, as is the case when it's a bit spendy (not too bad)
£51 on Sunday for food shop, £5 swim (I'm free so pay for DD), £2.35 Krispy Kreme after swim for DD.
Monday £23.80 dentist, £17.50 Boots pharmacy - not really planned for. Also takeaway £28 but it did feed me, DH, DD, DS and three of his friends. Was junk food but v nice.
Think it's been a NSD so far.
Will catch up later

Love that bedding Mrs - we defo need winter bedding this year!

northender · 08/11/2022 15:30

Happy anniversary curls

kessiebird · 08/11/2022 15:39

Happy Anniversary Curls 🎉

I actuallyl logged on to say my dual fuel energy bill was £140.48 so with the £66 discount will be £74.48. Definitely creeping up but under control so far.

ememem84 · 08/11/2022 18:46

@TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans that bedding is super.

needastrongoneagain · 08/11/2022 18:53

Evening.

So glad you feel better for a pamper decaff, what wonderful friends you have.

Yep - same driver. Lovely bloke, pictures of bhajis below, I made a masala frittata to go with them and it was a cheap and lovely meal.

DH has only had a couple of visits home in 6 months. He loves being home but the mobility and toileting issues at present made it hard for him. Hopefully this will improve though!

Hooray for the credit curls

£28 Lidl, that didn't seem to get much in truth. Sometimes you shop and think you've done brilliantly, sometimes you wonder where the money went for the little you've got - £2.20 for butter in Lidl now. Was £1.90 last week.

needastrongoneagain · 08/11/2022 18:55

Bhajis!
