unescorted I wear lenses too and have started having a problem with the right eye becoming all blurry about an hour after I put them in, it’s very annoying as I use disposable ones so it is expensive to waste them, have you ever had this?

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 09:57

That is why I was rubbing them, I was being lazy .... my optician said it is because the tear ducts get gunked up. She suggested that I soak 2 wooden spoons (bought for the job) in boiling water for a a couple of minutes. Dry them off and then when they are just cool enough press the backs against your eyes quite firmly. The little tear ducts along the lashes should start running freely again, because tears are waxy/ fatty so they melt with the heat.

My house is sooooooooo quiet - dh is away, ds at school and dd is at uni. I am supposed to be working but while they sort out the pickle I have very little to do. I am baking soft floury baps using a Tangzhong method, which is nothing to do with not being arsed to go to the shop to buy bread. I will report back.

ememem84 · 04/05/2021 13:59

£23 gym membership. Have signed up for a year. It’s usually £50pcm. But special offer means it’s half price for the next 2 months.

If I can go twice a week I’ll be happy.

Mrsmadevans · 04/05/2021 14:13

Afternoon everyone Smile

Stabby jab number 1 done

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 04/05/2021 17:29

Yeah for stabby jabby.
£23 photo of show cross.
£41 milk, £87 trombone, £2k savings,

You will use it more than twice em I'm sure.
How's the buns unescorted.

Lovemaltesers · 04/05/2021 18:13

I’ve been reading the thread but fallen off posting.

Standby jabby no 2 received today

Ddad has moved from the dementia hospital ward to a nursing home. No visitors for 14 days though while he self isolates.

Had a lovely weekend away too. Nice to have a change of scenery.

Hope everyone else is ok!

ememem84 · 04/05/2021 18:26

So. Went into work today and was called into a meeting with hr director. Was a bit Confused wtf what have I done now…?!

Turns out my colleague who passed away last week left a small amount of her death in service payment to me for the kids. £200. Had a bit of a cry. Such a wonderful generous lady. And apparently she did this for other staff too.

Very somber mood in the office today. She will be missed enormously.

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 18:40

Em that is really kind of her.

Life I will post a picture from my phone. For some reason it says I have successfully posted - but it must have gone to the ether. It does not like pictures & words together it seems. The buns turned out well - slightly under risen but good texture (soft and fluffy) and flavour.

Love good news that your DDad is out of hospital.

Hope fully you and Wolf have no side effects from the stabby jabby.

Peace is about to be shattered - dh has given up on his ride. Too wet apparently. I could have told him it was going to be wet before he set off, but I guess looking at forecasts is like asking for directions or reading the operating manual. Now I have to pick him up from the station ..... I was just about to take a sip of wine when he rang with his feeble booo booo story about riding 3 miles in the rain. Where is the really do not give a shit face when you need one?

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 18:42

It does not like pictures.... life you will have to think pretty buns in a stack on the cooling rack.

Lovemaltesers · 04/05/2021 19:31

Awww that’s so lovely and thoughtful of her em

😂 at your DH unescorted. How long was he due off for and are you disappointed not to have the peace and quiet?

Feeling a tad guilty as my mum wanted me to pick her up so we could drop off more of Ddads clothes on my day off… I’ve said I’ll collect & drop them off sometime this week (can’t visit him), but I’ve told her I’m having my day off to myself!

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/05/2021 19:36

I'm picturing your buns unescorted Grin
Did he not even look out of the window. 3 miles pft.
Ah em that's lovely and sad in equal measure, hope ddad settles well love

ememem84 · 04/05/2021 19:38

£8 boots as well. Loreal dream kenftgs no haircut cream. I have the split ends and can’t decide what I want to do with my hair so don’t want just a trim at hairdressers. Want to get some colour. But not sure what.

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 20:31

We were hoping for 2 -3 weeks. Ahhhh well - at least he can vote (penance is that I choose) and sort out my birthday cake ( I may say I have already ordered one from the nice cafe down the road).

Love don't feel guilty. You need time off too. My family are always filling my weekends with their agendas... pick this up, drop that off, call in and be regaled with the same story 3 weeks running, do this for them and that for so and so.

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 20:34

em did you see the latest sabre rattling over fish - they are threatening to turn your electricity off.

SnugglySnerd · 04/05/2021 20:36

That's so lovely Em, what a kind lady.

Today has been looong. Has more or less cancelled out any benefits of having had a long weekend!

£91 supermarket.

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 20:47

Snuggly have you been teaching my DS. He came back saying it had been a long day. I think he was cold most of the day. Now it is "Summer" they aren't allowed to wear jackets / coats & on PE days their uniform is shorts and T-shirts. The poor mite was frozen. He had to wait outside the building in his shorts and t shirt for his music lesson after main school time. I nearly turned to Ranty Parent.

Unescorted · 04/05/2021 20:48

Sorry that sounded like a rant at you... I know you aren't my DS's teacher. & it is really wearing on everyone.

Mrsmadevans · 04/05/2021 21:09

Em what a kind person to do that bless her heart , you will all miss her so much l am sure Flowers
Unescorted* I don't blame you nearly turning into 'Ranty Parent'! Hmm
Love l hope he will be able to settle now bless him , it must be so difficult for you all Flowers
Snuggly l have noticed food has gone up a lot lately . I paid 2.25 for a tin of Golden syrup today a couple of weeks back it was 1.99.
Yay for the stabby jabbys! Grin

ememem84 · 04/05/2021 22:11

@Unescorted

em did you see the latest sabre rattling over fish - they are threatening to turn your electricity off.
I’ve seen that! It’s mental.

From my understanding it’s not just the French “we” are restricting. It’s anyone who isn’t a jersey registered boat. But the French are pissed off and going to extremes.

Off to buy a generator tomorrow just in case. Jokes.

If they did blockade the harbours to restrict supplies in or turn electricity off I believe it’s classed as an act of war and a hostage situation ….

SnugglySnerd · 04/05/2021 22:23

@Unescorted

Sorry that sounded like a rant at you... I know you aren't my DS's teacher. & it is really wearing on everyone.
Don't worry, I didn't take it like that. Bit mad they aren't allowed to wear something over PE kit. DD's school are in summer uniform so she is in a cotton dress. I was worried about her being cold today but dh said she walked out of school at pick up carrying her coat!

Mrs I love golden syrup. I could happily eat it from the tin with a spoon!

northender · 04/05/2021 22:31

What a lovely gesture by your colleague em
life well done to your Dd
unescorted forgive me for chuckling at your tales of woe from today. I'd be so gutted if Dh did that! The idea of just me & one of the dc in the house for a couple of weeks frankly is bliss at he moment. How are the buns?? I couldn't get pics to load at the weekend either.
Anxiety levels are high here. Dd has started her 4 weeks of exams not exams, ds had a uni exam today & has his second driving test at 8 in the morning. I went out for a drive with him again tonight & he is such a good driver now. Passing would give him such a boost.
No spends here today

AmberIsACertainty · 05/05/2021 00:43

£101.78 in the supermarket today. And a determination to only buy what I needed.

North I hope DS passes the driving test.

Snuggly I think I'd be sick if I ate Golden Syrup from the tin.

Em if the French hold you hostage perhaps you could unleash the PIL on them? or offer them up as some sort of sacrificial prize for leaving the ports

That's so sweet of your colleague she sounds lovely. Sorry for your loss Flowers

Unescorted that's shocking. How can schools be allowed to do this and override parents with a stupid policy that isn't even common sense or in DC best interests?

Don't feel guilty Love everybody needs time to themselves. Hope your dad settled in ok.

Hope you're ok after the stabby jab wolf. I've got mine next week.

Unescorted · 05/05/2021 06:29

I have visions of PIL of Jersey on huge chain leashes surrounding the harbour.

The school is really strict about uniforms. I am surprised that they don't have matching face masks with the school logo on. I would have sent the kids elsewhere but all the other schools in the district are poor or failing. The rationale about coats is that the kids can't access the lockers & therefore would leave their coats when they took them off when they warmed up. This time last year we were in the garden eating ice creams. This year it snowed so the kids were borderline hypothermic.

North the buns are lovely. I need to start saving my doctored recipes. They currently live on scraps of paper as lists of ingredient weights.

It annoys me that he is so messy. As soon as he goes away me and the residual child tidy the house up. Within minutes of him being back every single piece free space ends up with his clutter on. I do not understand his need to display everything he owns. When he makes a mess he does a half hearted clean up. It also annoys me that I am expected to drop everything to make his life easier. I can't plan to do anything because of his flakiness . Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/05/2021 06:59

That's annoying unescorted. I have one like that and it's the half a job tidy up that pisses me off the most.

Don't feel. Guilty love, enjoy your day off.

Lol at PIL for defending the island.

Hope no stabby jabby side affects today. I call it that at work and people think I'm more crazy.

I would be ranting parent at that. It's not on children being cold. It may be summer by a draconian date but they done usually have all the doors and windows open
