Thank you amber that is a really helpful and interesting thought. We are pretty good In some respects regarding consumerism...but lots in charity shops, 2nd hand furniture, etc etc. But I like the idea of applying the concept of not over-buying to food too. I have a real emotional attachment I think to providing full cupboards and having 'enough' so that's really what I need to tackle.
Seeing my mum and dad tomorrow for the first time in ages, they have been very cautious throughout the pandemic.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend...beautiful evening here.

Happierwithouthim · 24/04/2021 07:42

@Wolfcub

Got yet another bill from the solicitor. Fkin hell! Also have second solicitor to pay for conveyancing. Grrr

Surveyor coming tomorrow. Mortgage is already approved so this is not an issue but if he values higher than I expect it will reduce my interest rate so that would be good

Life sewing bee has been interesting, a strong northern contingent and a mix of talent

Winning on the lower interest rate wolf Grin

@MeadowHay

Spends today: £30 at Claire's online. They have a promo on of 'buy 3 get 3 free' which is pretty good. Needed to buy myself some new earrings for my cartilage piercing as the one I've got in now has been in for donkeys and looks all old and manky now and I can't find the others from the pack. Got myself a few as well as some hair clips for me and DD and some bobbles for me too. Can't remember the last time I bought myself jewellery or hair accessories!

Driving lesson went really well, I know I am so ready for my test now, it will just be about controlling my nerves on the day so I don't freak out and do anything stupid eek. I was actually meant to do my test in January but the lockdown started about 5 days before my test date and have had to wait 4 months for this date. I dread to think of the wait if I fail Sad.

Gen Flowers

Ships Argh I can't even imagine that at this stage! Luckily when I finaly pass my test all of my driving will initially be on weekends with DH in the car with me because he has the car for work on weekdays anyway. Hopefully I can build my confidence up with that before solo driving eek.

Mrs Hope your DH is ok.

Fab news about pay rise happier!

Best of luck with test meadow and congrats on pregnancy I didn't realise I was missing so long Hmm
ememem84 · 24/04/2021 07:50

meadow so glad you were having a good day and good luck with the driving test!!

amber nails are one of my luxuries. Along with the riding lessons. I almost consider them to be essential. But at the same time know that if we were short on cash they’d be the first thing to go. I get gels which last me a month. Ish. Pink and pink this time.

I’ve started keeping a note of what I’m spending. Haven’t ever really done this before. But am determined to crack my spending. It’s sort of got out of control.

So I’m keeping track on a spreadsheet for this month. Date amount and what it was for. Then next payday I’m going to look at what I’m spending etc.

My “Dd” bracelet broke the other day - something dfriend got me after having Dd. It’s got her birthstone and her initial on it. She also got me the same when ds was born. I have ordered myself a bangle from not on the high street to replace them both - both very skinny chain bracelets. The bangle will be more hard wearing. £27

I'm told Bury market is fab Happier

Had an absolutely rotten nights sleep, preceded by a wasted takeaway order as ds had said he was starving then came home 45 mins later feeling nauseous. I suspect he'd been stuffing his face out with his friends but didn't want to admit it

Spendy morning, booked a photography workshop, a flower arranging workshop and a wreath making workshop - the last one for me and dm.

Need to go to the bakers this morning and possibly pub later.

£25 yesterday for ds haircut and some pocket money. Also dropped five bags of stuff off at the charity shop that I've been carting round in the car boot for a week

Morning everyone 😀
Off to Cardiff this morning, a little bit of gardening for Dd2 . I did not sleep well at all , everything going around in my mind.

It's no wonder with DH and his Atrial fibrillation attack l suppose 🙄
Wolf you and me both ! Hope you catch up on yourself today love 😊
Have a lovely day everyone 😀

Happierwithouthim · 24/04/2021 08:36

Enjoy pub wolf

MeadowHay · 24/04/2021 09:19

Hope everyone has a nice sunny Saturday. We are going to the Safari park today which is my first vaguely day-outy trip attempt since I got sick so fingers crossed it goes ok...DD has never been before.

Wolf Why do teens do that? I'm pretty sure I never did as I always used to let my DM know what my meal plans were but I definitely remember DB and DSis doing this a lot, eating out or at odd times, not telling my DM and then not eating a meal she'd made much to her understandable annoyance!

Em Those bracelets sound lovely! Hope you get it fixed.

SingToTheSky · 24/04/2021 10:16

Hi all :)
Meadow have a great day! Hope DD enjoys seeing the animals 🥰 we were meant to take Cagletini to the aquarium just as covid blew up, it was before lockdown but we decided not to risk it as Brighton already had high numbers IIRC. Really hope we can take her soon.

I finally went into town yesterday, got a couple of bits we needed plus had a quick look in a couple of charity shops. Six books for £2! The Magnificent Creatures one is absolutely gorgeous, for anyone with DC. Also got a load of blank canvases which will keep DD1 entertained for a bit.

Will be spending £72 later - DS tried parkour club yesterday and loved it, so I’ll bulk buy the lessons as it means you get one in ten free.

Oo Bury Market I had forgotten that. It’s near-ish to me and I remember it having a great reputation.
Em good luck with tracking the spending, it waxes and wanes doesn’t it?
wolf I hear you with the bizarre teenage eating
sing Brighton also a lovely place...I bet it’s rammed there though with restrictions lifting

AmberItsACertainty · 24/04/2021 11:42

wolf those workshops sounds fun.

I'm having a quiet day today. Need a bit of me-time to refresh.

ememem84 · 24/04/2021 13:10

£35 riding.

We’re going to the zoo this afternoon. It’s a “free” trip because we have a family membership and we’ve been enough to effectively make our money back.

meadow I hope you have a lovely time! Iirc you’re in the midlands. You wouldn’t be heading to west mids safari would you? I have fond memories of being there as a kid with mum dad and late uncle. Tiger peed on him and his car, monkeys broke the car etc. And him and dad vommed on the pirate boat ride! Haha.

SnugglySnerd · 24/04/2021 15:28

I love West Mids safari park Em. We have a free return ticket to use, I must check when that expires.

Back from all the dcs various activities and sitting in the garden. Feel like I should be doing something useful but I am knackered!

£2.60 bananas and crisps from very expensive Spar type shop while we were out.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/04/2021 17:17

Tried to spend money, horrible queues so didn't
£4.50 aerobic, £5 photo printing, £2 coop on stuff for curry. £5 for DS skater snacks

Mrsmadevans · 24/04/2021 18:47

Your days sound gorgeous!
Did Dd2 garden, just a bit of weeding and grass cutting . No hay fever for me today thankfully 😊 think it's tree pollen that is divas for me tbh .
Popped into Lidl spent 37 bought a box of the fruit & veg for 1.50 l had 2 boxes grapes, a swede, Romaine lettuce and little gem lettuce , baby corn and Chantaney carrots all very nice condition 😁

ememem84 · 24/04/2021 18:47

£38 in zoo shop. The kiddos were superbly well behaved and Dd pointed at animals and said what they were. We had “nake ssssss” (snake) “monkey oo oo” for gorilla and orangutan. “Uck ack ack” for flamingo (duck quack quack) and “bear”

She loved the butterfly enclosure - you can walk through it and they fly around you. We also saw an atlas moth. Which although I hate moff (especially big ass mofffs) it was beautiful. But huge.

And then Dd looked at Galapagos tortoises (which they keep in with the butterflies because it’s loverly and warm) and said “poo poo” and pointed at a gigantic tortoise turd. I swear it was the size of my head. 🤣

In gift shop ds chose whale lego. Dd chose a tshirt (or dh chose it for her) and I picked up a snack box for Dd as she doesn’t have one and it pisses ds off that she uses one of his and some wooden animals for my new godson and some flamingo stationery for his sister. They’re coming tomorrow for lunch.

AmberItsACertainty · 25/04/2021 00:20

Love reading about all of yous weekends. I've been unwell again, so have been doing nothing except reading magazines and dozing.

SnugglySnerd · 25/04/2021 06:24

Sorry you're not well Amber. GWS.

DCs up early today. Going out for a walk at a local park later. It's another lovely day.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/04/2021 08:05

Take it easy amber. Gws.

I've burned my face in the sun
My forehead is glowing
Knob!

Nsd planned bit of packing, walking and sorting.
Dh and DS off to the forest road mtb. DD to horse around.
Actually. That's a lie DD needs riding boots for a show cross next week

Taytocrisps · 25/04/2021 08:33

Good morning everyone. Having a quick cuppa and then I'll stick on the washing machine. Heading to the beach with DD in a bit. Our first time to the beach since around September. It's been a fab weekend here. The air was very smoky last night - lots of barbecues around us Smile. DD is very brave and intends going for a swim today. I'm a wuss where cold water is concerned and I'll just paddle my feet. We're going to take books with us and fold up chairs and read for a bit. And have ice creams.

I got a Thai take away last night so we're having leftovers tonight. No cooking. Yaay!

My old lawnmower started smoking ominously so I ordered a new one from Woodies. Unfortunately, it arrived in pieces and needed to be assembled, but my lovely neighbour's husband put it together for me. I did part of the back garden yesterday evening and I'll finish it off tonight. One corner is particularly bad for high grass/dandelions so I'll have to attack that with a strimmer.

My rubbish DIY patio is sprouting weeds again, so I need to sort that too. And varnish the shed. It's funny how your mind turns to outdoor jobs when the weather is nice. I don't mind though. I like being outdoors in fine weather - it's really good for my mental health. DD's the same. She's a typical teenager and loves her lie ins at weekends. But she's up like a lark on sunny mornings.

Next weekend is a bank holiday weekend here, so I'm hoping we get more good weather then.

Enjoy your day everyone - I'll come back this evening and catch up on your news.

Gensola · 25/04/2021 09:07

Ooh everyone’s garden news is motivating me to actually get a quote for getting our front garden cleared. I also need one of those wooden bin covers, surprisingly expensive.
Also must do a meal plan, we will save a lot as both having lunches at work plus being out of the house all day means hopefully our energy bills will come down this term.

MeadowHay · 25/04/2021 11:14

We are in the north west Em. Safari park trip was a success, DD wasn't really interested in the actual drive around and got whingy and then fell asleep on me right at the end! I sat in the car for half an hour for her to power nap, didn't mind as she probably hasn't slept on me since she was about 1!! Then we had a picnic lunch and then went for her to play in the sandpit/fairground etc when by a total coincidence her best mate from nursery was there so they played together lovely for about 2 hrs it was soo sweet to watch! As we've never seen them together or seen her play with anyone her own age really. However today I am absolutely wrecked because the HG through months of inactivity have made me so weak and frail so I am just resting, DH has took DD to the park to play and have a picnic with her cousin. So glad I had a nice trip out yesterday though and the weather was gorgeous.

Today probably an NSD although possibly do some online shopping...

My hay fever has started but DH and DD's doesn't start until later in summer so we must have different pollen allergies.

Em aww zoo day sounds lovely. We might take DD for her 3rd birthday which is in the summer. She hasn't been to a zoo since she was a baby.

Amber Hope you're ok Flowers

Life Oh no you should see DH, his face is like a tomato!! He burns really easily. Luckily DD takes after me skin wise phew.

SnugglySnerd · 25/04/2021 12:38

Brilliant morning at the park. Did a huge walk with lots of running from tree to tree and then rolling down hills for the dcs then we went on the playground. They had better sleep well tonight!

Getting excited for LOD already.
