Hi lovely frugaleers :)

Managed a short trip to town again yesterday - couple more books for Cagletini and some other bits. She’s started getting into games now and since turn taking is no longer a problem I’m finding myself drawn to all the old Orchard Toys games the other two used to have :o but I’m determined this time to stick to second hand as much as possible, same with books. Spent about £35 between that, a new bath mat and some food. Then £14 on amazon getting some of those foam letters/numbers for the bath.

Does anyone know if Next kids clothes come up a bit small? Cagletini is in 3-4 for everything but I just realised the pyjamas she was given from Next are actually 4-5. I have found some I want to get her for Christmas (I know it’s April 😳) but I’m not sure if 4-5 might be too small by then.

ememem84 · 26/04/2021 09:12

I’ve taken a half day today. Hate doing this at such short notice but the house is a tip and it’s stressing me out mentally so this afternoons plan is to have a quick blitz (hour or two) then nap.

Mrsmadevans · 26/04/2021 11:34

Morning everyone 😀
Off to Redditch to see my niece and her children. Not seen them since Xmas 2019 😌
Must remember no hugs or kisses . We will be outside too .
Don't blame you having a half day Em it has to be done .

Bornlazy · 26/04/2021 18:00

Hello. I had 3 nsd in a row only because I was working 12 hour shifts 😇 Today I was off so spent £13.91 in Savers on mainly stuff to help ds1's scabby lip. He's not sure if it's a cold sore so bought I variety of things to try. Then £18.91 in M&S - got carbonara bake and cheesy garlic bread for dinner tonight. My favourite dinner from there, delicious but so unhealthy.

Hope you had a nice time Mrs. I need to make the effort to actually try and meet people now as I've become quite used to our own wee bubble.

Mrsmadevans · 26/04/2021 21:57

Thank you so much Born we had a wonderful time, sat in the garden for hours it was lovely seeing them all , just like old times even though we haven't seen them for a long time Smile
You deserve the carbonara and the garlic bread after 3 x 12 hours shifts !well done lovely Flowers

You've been quite near me today Mrs!

Did anyone watch the How to Save A Grand programme on C4? It was ok, no EWFL but enjoyable enough. We are going to keep every single food shopping receipt for May and work out exactly what we spend as I think we guess on the conservative side and it is ages since we last worked it out. Dcs are bigger and eat more now!

MeadowHay · 26/04/2021 22:24

Hope you had a productive half day Em oh and a nice nap too!

Spent about £60 on toiletries from Superdrug online. SIXTY QUID how on earth...?! It was all stuff we needed though (except for one tinted lip balm for myself...).

Have to take DD for blood tests tomorrow which am dreading. We have to wait around in the hospital for 40 mins between applying the numbing cream and actually having the bloods taken...hoping there will be a telly that she will just watch eek.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2021 07:09

I would so have taken leave too em.
£5 fat club, £50 forestry England but means we can park for free when visiting so soon get our money back as it's £6 per day and £10 ar peak times.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2021 07:10

I agree after a 12 hr shift eat what you fancy.
Pleased a good day was had with niece.
Not seen that snug but IKWYM about food bill ££££#
I'm eating the cupboards again to move (hopefully) in may

ememem84 · 27/04/2021 09:31

Off today too as cold has caught up with me. So I’m in bed still.

StarBaker · 27/04/2021 10:52

Hi all, hoping I can join here to try and be a bit more accountable for my spending. I got paid today so I'm starting from today and hoping to have some NSD and stop just "popping into Tesco on the way home" and spending £20 on stuff I don't really need!

Do you guys plan your NSD in advance?

AmberItsACertainty · 27/04/2021 15:22

StarBaker no I just quietly celebrate them when they happen. Giving myself lots of jobs to do inside helps, so I'm not going past a shop.

Life hope your house move works out.

Meadow I'm like that with toiletries too. I haven't bought anything in ages though, I ended up with a bit of a hoard so I'm working my way through that.

Snuggly I did the receipts thing fir a year once, it was interesting to see where all the money went. I hadn't realised how much I was spending on magazines.

Sold something for £5 today which has made me happy.

ememem84 · 27/04/2021 17:36

mwadow I’m like that in boots. Go in for one thing and £50 later...

SnugglySnerd · 27/04/2021 18:01

Welcome Star! No I don't plan NSDs in advance but I find they tend to coincide with the days when I am at work - funny that!

AmberItsACertainty · 27/04/2021 18:05

£106 water bill. Resisted the urge to buy a fancy soap from the pile next to the till.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2021 18:52

Some plan nsd some don't. Agreed it's easy not to spend at work as long as the day off fritters don't negate it
And welcome

All. People here with different reason and goals. No judgement

Unescorted · 27/04/2021 19:05

Evening peeps.

Hi Star. NSD are never planned here. They normally occur when I can't be arsed getting out.

Not a NSD here - I had to get my licence renewed. The person in the PO was lovely and helped me look respectable before taking the photo. It lasts 10 years after all... She even let me smile a bit so I didn't look as if I was in a mug shot.

LOD - I am up to date. Sunday suddenly seems a long way away.

Born cold sores are really weird. DS go one across the whole of his face when he was doing one of his long bike rides. Combination of UV, physical stress and tiredness brought it on. It looked like the mark of Zorro. It was the only time I was worried he was over doing his adventuring.

Sing I remember the first time I had "The hungry Caterpillar" was read to me. I love that book.

MeadowHay · 27/04/2021 19:46

I have weirdly had such a good day even if it did involve taking DD for blood tests and firefighting the multiple meltdowns she had later. I've been feeling so well so the day felt so close to normal it was great. Only vomited once. Here's to recovery Wine

Welcome Star. No I don't plan my NSDs, like Unescorted they tend to be based on me not leaving the house! Today was an NSD though, was going to buy DD something from the hospital shop as a treat for getting her bloods but in the end she decided she'd rather play with muddy rocks outside than go to the shop! So saved us a few bob!

Oh no Em hope you're soon better.

DD loves the very hungry caterpillar, it was one of my faves as a child too.

I’ve found clothes from next are fine for the kids. Ds is in 3-4 in most things but some 4-5. He’s having a massive growth spurt though at present. He’s a month or so older then cagletini if I remember correctly.

We swear by next here. Because it’s one of our only good options for kids clothes. M&S have a decent enough range. Boots have some stuff and we have Jojo. But that’s it.

Gensola · 28/04/2021 06:47

Driving DH to his colonoscopy today, which involves teaching my morning lessons then rushing home to pick him up, and praying that his appt doesn’t run over or I’ll miss afternoon lessons. This week is just crazy! Need to get to Friday and recalibrate my myself over the weekend.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2021 06:50

Shopping arranged for Fri £70 but no meals. Hmm
£17 tack shop, £37 show entry fee and £25 lesson today.
Need apples. £6
Got soft fruit yesterday as Brit strawberry season is starting £12

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2021 06:51

Oh and £3 birthday card and bag for DS friend

AmberIsACertainty · 28/04/2021 14:42

Fingers crossed for DH Gen.

The sun has broken and we've got rain today. I hadn't realised how much the weeks of sun was perking me up and I feel a bit flat now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2021 15:55

Good luck gen dh

£6 fruit
