Oh! It's not me welding, they're not my overalls 😂 I don't think anything particular is being welded at the moment. But fireproof overalls get trashed after a while with burn holes where the sparks land, they're easy enough to put out and won't turn you into a human fireball. Holes are bad news though because your clothes underneath can catch fire. Also the light from welding is blinding, literally, in minutes, hence the helmets. You can imagine what it does to your naked skin.

ememem84 · 17/04/2021 21:35

Yes. Such a lovely evening. And have felt mostly fresh today. I did get the wine sweats for a bit this morning but soon got over it.

£35 riding. £89 coop. I’m embarking on a no booze few weeks. I had enough last night to last me a while.

Gensola · 17/04/2021 21:58

life I agree completely

Mrsmadevans · 17/04/2021 22:40

@lifelongfrugaleer

I've been quoted around £380 for 3 days in june
Thank you Life and wow that seems reasonable to me !
AmberItsACertainty · 18/04/2021 00:17

I just saw a pic of the Queen sitting alone in the church and thought how sad that funerals have been this way during lockdown, I suppose she was lucky to have been able to attend at all.

SnugglySnerd · 18/04/2021 06:44

I thought the same when I saw that photo Amber. I felt very sad for her sitting all alone like that and then realised that's what every funeral has been like. I am fortunate not to have been to any.
Washing already in machine. Planning to do more garden tidying, perhaps have a look round the shops and help the dcs to make pizzas for tea.

Wolfcub · 18/04/2021 07:10

Morning all. Having a cuppa in bed and then I shall drag my carcass up and at em. Need to wash the bedding and remake the bed. Could do with a tip trip and then I'm going to walk round a garden this aft before I pick ds up

Oh that pic of the Queen on her own made me feel sad.

70+ years together is such a long time. She must be so lost without him.

Dm thinks she’ll pass on herself this year of a broken heart.

Off to dparents this lunchtime for dsis belated family birthday lunch. Yay.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/04/2021 07:38

I wonder if it will be relatively quick with Queenie now. My neighbours were together 70odd years and both died last year within 6 months. She just missed him too much.

I think if I was going more than 40 mins down the road to park for 3 days I might be more inclined to spend the money, but I'm not.

Bad night sleep as have stabby jabby today and dreading side affects.

Unescorted · 18/04/2021 08:09

Ummmm the phone app has just stolen a post..... Just checking this one works before retyping my.

Unescorted · 18/04/2021 08:21

And again... It posts from the phone but doesn't like pictures it seems.

SnugglySnerd · 18/04/2021 09:07

We wondered the same thing about the Queen. I hope she sees her jubilee this year although it will be sad for her without Philip.

1st washing load on line, bed changed and bedding how in machine.

Can anyone suggest a good savings account for children please? Their birthday and Christmas money is in an envelope in the bedside table because they haven't been able to spend it anywhere and they don't have bank accounts to put it in. Going to let them choose a toy each to buy and then suggest they save the rest. I want to teach them some good financial habits and our house is full to bursting with toys already

I'd also be interested to know what others do with DC birthday money. Do you let them spend the lot or get them to save some? While ours have been small we have decided for them. Previously we have used it for a day out or pooled it to buy one large item e.g. slide/climbing frame in the garden. They are old enough to choose for themselves now I think.

northender · 18/04/2021 09:09

life hope the jab is better than you're thinking. Wrote an email to GP yesterday to ask if ds can have his prioritised because of his ME. Not holding out much hope, but you never know.
wolf your industrious cleaning always impresses me. In my head I emulate it, in reality I don't!
Em sounds like a good night on Friday
unescorted hope trip went well yesterday. Apparently ds finishes uni in about 3 weeks, such a long summer break.
Meadow congratulations, but sorry you're suffering again with the pregnancy
Mrs great tkmaxx bargaining. I haven't mustered the courage to shop yet. I've got a couple of click & collect things to pick up today.

Yesterday was an online long covid study day, fascinating and mind blowing in equal measure. Dh did food shop £90, Gousto order (30% discount) £33. Dd worked at rugby club but is disgruntled at having been moved from waitressing to pot washing! We went round to friends for a couple of hours for garden drinks which was lovely.
We've enjoyed Gousto, it is definitely helping get my cooking spark back. We are choosing meals that I wouldn't normally have cooked and so far all but one have been added to my meal plan list. The amount of packaging, for things I already have in the cupboard, annoys me, the white fish is farmed & from Vietnam which we would never normally buy, but as a short term fix & with a discount, the boxes are a success.
Today will be some tidying & cleaning, then to town. Dd has rugby, ds has cricket. Beef curry with trimmings for tea. Dh has been doing a sterling job in the garden, digging over and clearing weeds. The back garden is a blank canvas after the work we had done last year so we'll be filling it slowly

Bornlazy · 18/04/2021 09:32

Morning everyone. Weather here is a bit grey and it's definitely colder today.

Hoping for a nsd today. Yesterday's spends were £39 on an Indian takeaway but there is some left for lunch today so not as bad as it sounds. We are spending quite a lot of money at the moment as we are getting our front garden mono blocked in preparation for having 3 cars. We've also had new stones put down in back garden and it's amazing how much that totally lifts the place, just wish we'd done it years ago

We are also getting new carpets for our caravan and new decking too so money is flying out of our savings. That's where we will spend our holidays this year so it's still cheaper than going abroad and it's been needing done for ages. It was lovely to visit it yesterday and to see the sea again.

Unescorted how lovely that dd is getting back to university. I'm sure you'll miss her but it won't be long until she's home again.

I missed the funeral so have just seen snippets. It's incredibly sad that the queen had to sit alone. In any other family surely that wouldn't happen as you'd bubble up with one of your children. I hope she's got plenty of support away from the tv cameras.

Ds2 is back to school tomorrow so need to sort out his uniform which he is now saying is too small for him 🙄 Then I'll do some baking to use up some past their best bananas.

Have a good Sunday everyone 🤗

northender · 18/04/2021 09:36

Born I thought just that about the queen, that it didn't have to be like that?

MeadowHay · 18/04/2021 10:42

Yes, why didn't the queen bubble with anyone? Confused Yes DH and I were also just saying we doubt it will be much longer for her now either sadly. It's often the way with couples isn't it?

NSD yesterday and today likely the same. Managed the park for a bit yesterday with DH and DD in the sun, felt like a goddess just to be out Grin feel grim today so far though but it's ups and downs atm.

My DD doesn't have a bank account either but the rates are so crap so it's demotivated me from opening one. She has a cheque from Xmas that I don't want to expire but then the surname on it is wrong too so the bank probs wont let me bank it for her anyway. DH and I double-barelled our surnames (7 years ago) and you wouldn't believe the amount of cheques we are unable to ever bank due to naming errors.

I'd like to try Gousto at some point, heard good things about it. Will wait til I'm better though and can cook more and don't have a load of things I am unable to stomach.

SingToTheSky · 18/04/2021 11:22

We have issues with our married [hissurname-mysurname] name a lot meadow although DH doesn’t seem to have as many difficulties as me, which is weird as surely it’s much more common for the woman to change name on marriage Confused

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/04/2021 12:21

Stabbed in the arm so we shall see now

Unescorted · 18/04/2021 12:41

I thought she couldn't bubble because her staff are her household.

Yesterday's trip was amazing. It is the first time I have been more than 10 miles from my house since last July. It was a very odd experience.

We had a lovely informal BBQ with friends last night... it was cold but one of the other guests brought Victorian ceramic hot water bottles and old style wool blankets for everyone to snuggle up in.

SnugglySnerd · 18/04/2021 13:29

I wonder if the Queen didn't want it to look like she was getting special treatment or bending the rules.

Have just listed a great big pile of summer stuff on Ebay. Hoping the nice weather means people will be looking out for kids sandals, shorts etc.

marthasmum · 18/04/2021 16:05

Been to two football matches today (one for each DS) and was stood in the sun shading my eyes watching. It’s amazing how much better good weather makes everything isn’t it?
I haven’t watched the funeral on TV but have been to a lockdown funeral. The oddest and most horrible bit for me was not being able to have a post-funeral get together like you normally would... presume that was the same for the royals?

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/04/2021 17:08

Been gardening and packing this afternoon

ememem84 · 18/04/2021 17:29

We’ve been to dparents for lunch. I’m now in bed with a headache. I’m due on period tomorrow so this is one of those hormonal ones which are horrible. Dh doesn’t get it.

Nsd though. I took the kids to the park this morning and we had a nice run.

Onwardsandupwardswego · 18/04/2021 17:58

Poor Queenie. Looked so small and the fighting between the rest can't help. She needs to get Mike tindell to sort them out. Haven't spent much this week. Petrol 32 and Tesco 66 i think. Worked today at time and a half so that's good. The weather is fabulous. I have sown lots of veg as have an allotment

SnugglySnerd · 18/04/2021 18:07

I have got a very bad case of last-day-of-holidays blues. It descended on me after lunch and I'm properly fed up now. Not because of work but because I am enjoying being at home.
