@Lovemaltesers my father in law has a type of dementia I'm so sorry this is something your going through.

Rainb0w · 27/04/2020 14:03

It's dry yet cold here im sat under a blanket in the garden being able to go outside has kept me relatively calm the last couple of weeks so I'm dreading the outside not being as accessible after today!

Mrsmadevans · 27/04/2020 16:01

@Lovemaltesers I am so sorry, that sounds agony to see your beloved Dad in that way, bless you sweetheart Flowers

StraightOuttaCamden · 27/04/2020 20:02

Hi everyone, I'm back to work kind Of full time, everyday but hours slightly reduced, at the moment I'm driving in but once thinks start to change with regards to lockdown this won't be an option, feeling really nervous about getting on the tube again.

I'm struggling to find time to spend on MN now I'm back to work - but I really want to try and keep up with these threads.

Love - Thanks sorry to hear that your dad isn't doing too good, dementia is awful for everyone, I sometimes think it's harder for family than the person with the dementia, especially if they are fit and able xx

North - beautiful quilting, so many artistic members of this thread, your pieces are stunning.

Mrs - I cant believe Bob feeds his cats prawns Shock how many does he have?

I dug a load of odds and ends out of the freezer for dinner tonight, will probably be the same kind of thing again tomorrow.

LaneBoy · 27/04/2020 20:04

Oh love that’s so tough I’m sorry xx

Wolfcub · 27/04/2020 20:25

Love Thanksso sorry your dad is showing signs of getting worse that is so hard on you and on you mum x

Unescorted · 27/04/2020 20:43

Love that is tough. Your mum needs to take care of herself as well, so call Social services and his doctor so the appropriate support can be put in place for both of them.

Another day of no rain.... at times like this I am glad we can't have a water meter. The garden would have shrivelled to dust. I spent todays commute weeding the second vege bed and replanting the strawberries …. a bit late but hey ho. Our road is starting an informal plant swap club. I swapped left over strawberry suckers for onion sets with 2 doors down. Squash and Courgettes are being swapped for peas and chard. Self layered gooseberry turned into 5 pairs of gardening gloves. The loan of my fancy weeding stick means the logs I have been meaning to chop up were neatly done and stacked - ready to use on the BBQ. We are not a street that normally talks to each other much beyond saying hello.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2020 21:08

That sounds ace unescorted. I love that kind of interaction.

Love Flowers it's a fucking shitty illness. Yy to get onto his nurses and doctors.

Gorgeous quilts, in going to have a go when I get fabric. Stupid questions ahoy. First few being: does it matter what fabric?
Does it matter what square size?
Do you hem all sides of each square and do hope do they join together?
Or point me towards a good you tube channel.

Got my eye on a pin board craft on the Hobbycraft site.

£43 on fucking head lice stuff x4 people
£3 window cleaner, £9 co-op, £16 may gym fees

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2020 21:08

Just keep up as you can Camden. Lots pop in and out

happinessinayellowbottle · 27/04/2020 21:38

I’m so sorry love, my GGM had dementia and it was so hard. I really do think it’s harder for the family than the person. ❤️

Sorry I haven’t been on the past few days, the thread about DS wanting to change his name was used in the media. And then my username was discovered by an ex so have had to delete all previous posts in case there’s anything I don’t want him to see. But I am back here now!

I completely forgot what day it was today, so no homeschooling was done hereBlush

ememem84 · 27/04/2020 22:04

Oh love lots of love light and kindness for you xxx

Mrsmadevans · 27/04/2020 22:16

Camden don't worry bout keeping up just join in love. Bob has 2 cats Grin they are ruined !

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2020 07:10

Oh dear yellow. Did ex cause you any bother?

Nsd planned today, good job really after yesterday

SnugglySnerd · 28/04/2020 07:33

That sounds hard Love dementia is such a cruel illness. Flowers

I love the idea of a plant swap although I just spent ages wondering what a wedding stick was before I realised I was reading it wrong.

It's raining here now and is set to rain all day. That's going to make the week a lot harder with the dcs. They have been playing in the garden for hours each day. On the plus side that means they haven't been watching much TV so maybe it will seem like a novelty!
Supermarket this morning. I used to love going to the supermarket. Now it seems like a but of a drag that takes half the day.

maddenlightfoot · 28/04/2020 08:29

I'm joining back in to! I've just finished my rota'd time back in school. It was good to have a bit of normality back but I missed being at home.

Anyone else completely reassessing work choices as a result of this situation? I currently work 5 days a week, school hours, but am considering a move to 2-3 longer days. It would mean less interaction with school/nursery as I wouldn't be doing all the drop-offs and pick-ups but I think as a family life would run more smoothly with time in the week to get all the things done that usually eat in to our evenings and weekends.

Other than that, nothing monetary to report because other than food we're not spending anything!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 28/04/2020 08:40

North, what beautiful creations!
Love I'm sorry for all of you go, it must be so tough Flowers
yellow, oh dear that is rubbish, hope everything is ok now.

Dd2 has an MRI today. It's the first day that we will be using public transport since everything started.

ememem84 · 28/04/2020 08:57

Eugh. Dd has woken up with a rash. And a temperature. Fun. Fun. Fun.

I’ve called dr. Have had a video consultation with him. And he’s now consulting with paediatrician. Hooray.

Wolfcub · 28/04/2020 10:09

Oh no Em. Poor dd I hope she's ok

A very spendy week. I paid a €xxxx sum to my solicitor. I finally managed to place an order with a garden centre who delivers. They don't have many plants left but I ordered four or five plants and lots of garden ornaments to brighten up the garden. I ordered two pairs of runners from Sports Direct because I've holes in mine. Finally, I ordered a shirt and cropped trousers from Boden. I searched online and found a 20% off code for Boden.

Now that I've got all my spending out of my system, I'm back on the straight and narrow Grin.

I was in Lidl early this morning. The 'elderly hours' are from 9 - 11 so I got there for about 8.20 and was out before 9. Then I hit Centra for the other bits. I've just had breakfast - a very tasty pain au chocolat. They were selling lavender plants in Lidl and also small maple trees and some other small trees with green leaves. Customers were snapping them up - one woman had about six small trees in her trolley Shock. She must have a big garden. I resisted temptation Halo.

Spends today

€31.27 in Lidl
€13.61 in Centra

I've also ordered some lamb pieces from my local butcher but I haven't paid him yet. Lamb stew for dinner.

The postman delivered two parcels this morning - cat collars (DD owes me for these) and door wedges for the back door and the door from the kitchen out to the utility room. We've been leaving the back door open so the cats can go in and out, but if it's windy, the doors keep slamming shut.

Our lockdown runs until this weekend, so there's a lot of speculation about whether it will be extended beyond that. The worst bit is that we can only exercise within 2 kms from home.

My hairdressing scissors arrived yesterday so DD trimmed my fringe. She did a pretty good job. It's still a little long - I might get her to take another few cms off.

DD and I watched 'Sister Act' on Disney+ last night. I'd never seen it myself - we really enjoyed the music.

Unescorted sounds like you live in a beautiful place. I love your bartering system Smile. I've been chatting a lot more to my neighbours also.

north I love your sewing projects, especially the star one.

I can empathise with the emotional seesaw - feeling positive one day and then feeling really down in the dumps the next. Right now I'm feeling positive. The sun is shining for now and I've my garden delivery to look forward to.

Love I'm sorry to hear about your Dad Sad. Sending you big hugs and Flowers.

life sorry to hear about your unwelcome visitors Shock

em poor DD. Hope she's not too miserable.

ememem84 · 28/04/2020 12:17

Miserable baby. Tired mummy. She has a virus not “the” virus. Which caused a rash. Which wasn’t there when we went to hospital (on drs orders).

Scary in there. Drs and nurses in full combat gear (full ppe). But she’s ok.

Have to get a pee sample from her though. Any ideas how to do this?

Unescorted · 28/04/2020 12:45

Poor DD em - no idea on the pee sample. Other than gluing her to the potty, which is not helpful.

Yellow do the press not have more interesting things to report on other than domestic minutiae. I am sure there is a war or 2, Covid ripping through refugee camps, double peaks, a US president that is off the scale nuts, far right politicians in the ascendency and others getting their comeuppance all happening. In the greater scheme of things a small child wanting to change his name is not a public interest story.

It is a nice place to live - although you need a thick skin for the curtain twitching by some. To be fair it is only the last couple of weeks that people have started talking to each other & doing the swaps.

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2020 13:18

Good afternoon everyone 😃
Terrible morning up Mum & Bob's . Have been led a merry dance by the two of them. They have been 'tidying' up . Consequently l can't find anything. The phone wouldn't work. Bob had turned the feeder plug off by the telly. He has a double socket running from the sofa to the telly plug not on the mains it's like Steptoes yard there honestly!
NSD for me

Em hope your DD is better soon 💐🧡🤞

Rainb0w · 28/04/2020 13:57

NSD for me I was in the ordering of a payday treat for myself and it sold out which saved me from myself I guess!

Really not feeling upto anything today the dog and I are snoozing on the sofa.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2020 15:35

Hope DD feels better soon em
