Hi, I've been a serial rejoiner to this thread, I'm terrible at keeping up and then go weeks without coming on mumsnet at all!

I need to stop spending and save up for super expensive secondary school uniform this year 😭

Also I'm a stone and half over my happy weight so all my clothes feel tight but dont want to spend out on new clothes!!

Today's job make a meal plan and amend Tesco order (taking out all the rubbish!)

StraightOuttaCamden · 19/04/2020 11:16

It's odd isn't it, your colleagues seeing into your home, DH has these video calls and I've made him a space so he's sitting in front of a window that looks out into fields, so the view to everyone of our home is very limited.

I think because we both work innLondon but live quite far away we don't really know our coworkers, they'd never come over or anything so they have no idea of our lives outside work.

Dd2 has dance lessons online using Zoom, and they post some of the students on Instagram Hmm I'm sure they ask for permission first but again I'm just really not sure about sharing the inside of my home with the public.

So far today Dh, ds2 and I are the only ones awake, ds has a paper round at the weekend and on a Sunday I always make him sausage sarnies to soften the blow of getting up early.

dd1 is supposed to be helping me to dye my hair, but no sign of her yet.

Toad in the hole with mash, and onion gravy for dinner, I've just made a bread and butter pudding for later on.

I ordered these for my mum last night https://www.turtle-doves.co.uk/products/seconds-fingerless-gloves-make-do-and-mend-pack I thought it was a nice idea! Basically they send a pair of seconds and a few scraps, buttons and thread to mend or upcycle them.

Hope everyone is safe and well, and if you'll be homeschooling again soon I hope you're ready for it Smile

northender · 19/04/2020 11:24

Nice to see you again nocuts
snuggly it's fine to feel that way, we are in such strange times, not self-indulgent at all.
unescorted I like that re walking away to clear your head, it's definitely needed sometimes and particularly at the moment.

I'm feeling angry today after reading the piece in the Sunday Times about Boris Johnson's lack of leadership through this. We seem to be the laughing stock (probably not quite the appropriate phrase but you know what I mean?) of Europe at the moment and as a result of poor planning and decision making, people are dying.
Ds flips between misery and anger at the moment which is unusual for him as he is generally pretty laid back. He has planned a year out after A levels and had booked tickets to lots of the cricket T20 world cup games in Australia in Oct & November and booked flights hopping around between games too. It now looks like the World Cup will be postponed & so he is in limbo. His lads post A level holiday to Tenerife will almost certainly not happen, so he is really moping & I don't blame him. Dh is getting him to help in the garden for a bit today and then we have said we'll play table football and darts with him later on to try to distract him a bit. Dd has her moments, but she has built more of a structure to her days & so is doing better than ds in some ways.

Had a good night again last night with friends on Zoom. The same as last Saturday, but it's really good to keep that contact.

StraightOuttaCamden · 19/04/2020 11:30

Hi coconuts welcome back!

I'm in the same position as you re weight, but currently the only thing keeping me going is food, so bad I'm food obsessed, but desperately need to lose weight.

What's your plan? Maybe we could tackle this as a group if anyone else is interested lol

I like to make lists and have been quite good with my meal planning since I've been home from work, kind of makes me feel like I have a little control I guess.

Have a great day Smile

Taytocrisps · 19/04/2020 11:32

My mobile phone is playing up. It's not charging properly. You have to switch the power off to charge it. I don't know if the fault lies with the phone or the charger. The charger would be cheaper to replace obviously. But I don't want to order a charger, wait a few days, then have to order a new phone because it turns out the charger is fine.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 19/04/2020 11:36

Morning all.
Had a day off from the internet yesterday, had to do some training for work. Also did lots of tidying and cleaning, flat is looking better but still a bit to do.
Today I'm deep cleaning the kitchen including the oven!
I put all the shelves and hob bits to soak last night, so that I would have to finish it today, I've almost finished scrubbing those, just had a coffee break.

Missed all the chat about the food.
My eldest two don't live at home anymore, but would mostly eat anything.
The two at home now would live on nuggets, chips, chocolate and the less veg the better.
Ds2 is the worst though, he could live on cereal and ham sandwiches.
Dd2 is better, will happily make her own fruit salad for breakfast, likes cheese toasties, but would live on pasta if I let her.
Neither of them like things in sauce, so no soups, stews, curries, and no onions and ds2 will not eat anything in a tomato sauce, so spaghetti bolognese is just meat and a stock cube mostly!
I try not to make a deal out of it though.

North, that's good to know about the Nutri ninja, I made hummus yesterday, it came out good.

Audit and nocuts welcome back!

Sea, glad you got your takeaway. Did you manage to get to the bluebells?
I'm really sad that we have missed it this year.
One of my colleagues went and put the picture up so that we could see them.
I have added it here too, they are so beautiful!

Happier, glad you are happy about going back to work, its pants that it is dds birthday though, but sounds like you have a nice day planned today.
I go back to work on Thursday and I can't wait!

Camden, glad there is progress on the building work!

Snuggly, not self indulgent at all!

Unescorted, I only do team calls in my kitchen, because it is usually the one room that is semi ok and I can move things very quickly!
Life, thanks for the blurring tip, I didn't know that!

Hope you all have a good Sunday, I'm going to get that kitchen done!

I was down at Morrison's at 8.50 this morning queuing with all the other nhs staff!! Very surreal really.

Anyway spent £90 but got 10/% off so more like £80 actual spend. Bought quite a lot of treat food as food is still one of the things that cheers us up!!

Planning on doing some having today, going to try to make millionaires shortbread plus banana cake and possibly banana bread as well (had a crap bunch of bananas that went from green to brown with nothing in between!!)

Picked up compost and last few bedding plants as well so will finish my pots and boarders later.

Snuggly I think everyone is up and down, it's a shit situation and we're definitely allowed to feel sorry for ourselves.

North I'm not surprised your ds a s struggling that's a lot to miss.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 19/04/2020 11:51

Oh and meant to say are you all aware of the free musicals Andrew Lloyd Webber has put on YouTube? Last week was Jesus Christ superstar and the Friday just gone was Phantom of the opera.

Jesus Christ superstar blew my mind and even dd was amazed by how good it was, Tim Mitchin is outstanding.

I know some of you are fellow musical lovers.

Wolfcub · 19/04/2020 12:02

Forgive me frugaleers for I have sinned and ordered an expensive kitchen gadget.

I did however use a discount code and achieve £24 off

ChristmasSeacow · 19/04/2020 13:24

What what what Wolf? Grin

Snuggly defo allowed to have a bad day. The situation sucks.

Your poor DS North, after all he’s been through, what an arse to have those opportunities taken away. I feel sad for him too. It’s fair enough to have a mope.

I was working till 3am, still have a lot to do before my midday deadline tomorrow. Sigh. At 2am I cracked and ordered a really cheap and horrible wheeled laptop desk (all the nice stuff is out of stock). I will replace it with something nicer once deliveries open up again but I really can’t manage any more working while sitting on a bed. Especially as I have to plug in an external keyboard Now - also bought at 2am - because my work laptop keyboard has stopped typing v. This is a a problem when working in the NHS as there is a v right in the middle of COVID, for starters! Gah. Keyboard should arrive tomorrow but in the meantime I am having to write very very slowly, adding my Vs in with copy and paste AngryAngry. Once I am set up I might treat myself to a proper monitor too. I’ll really be set up for home working at this rate!

Sausage and Mediterranean veg roast for dinner. I am also simmering some condensed milk to make banoffee pie 😋😋😋😋

Cuts Welcome back! I need to try ease this lockdown lardiness trend too after the banoffee pie, obviously . There was a frugaleers’ diet thread, might still be going but if not I’m up for resurrecting it!

ChristmasSeacow · 19/04/2020 13:24

Cross posted Wolf ha ha. Now off to
Google what it is.

Hi nocuts :)

Cagletini is trying to get her own Lockdown Dick bingo I think. She’s just picked up the book I got her the other day and is doing yoga. :o

ememem84 · 19/04/2020 14:21

£89 at coop. Bought everything on my well planned aisle ordered list bar bicarb, sausage meat; and bread flour.

I also bought things not on the list. Pringles. Mayonaise. Two types of cheese. Three kinds of ice cream (Kelly’s clotted cream stuff - original flavour, Eton mess and honeycomb).

ememem84 · 19/04/2020 14:24

I’m also 75.2kg as of today. Want to be at 70.

Nice wolf. Looks good. There was a bnib instapot on Facebook today but the want has passed now.

Long walk today so no spends.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 19/04/2020 15:05

straight I'm with you on the constant wanting food! I've downloaded myfitness pal so hoping that helps. I did slimming world before and lost 3 stone but I found I got really greedy with all the free food. I ate more than I needed. I'm aiming for 3 meals, 1 treat and no snacking. Each time I'm hungry I'm going to have a drink first.

girlie mine love millionaires shortbread, must make again soon. I did a slow cooker banana bread with condensed milk the girls loved. Smelt amazing, I couldn't eat it as I'm gluten and dairy intolerant.

Definitely up for joining another weightloss thread. seacow great idea finishing the banoffee pie, I finished the bournville buttons last night!

I'm so frustrated, I've turned into shouty mum today. I just wanted a nice day but the constant questioning when I say no to technology and arguing. I've now banned fucking Roblox after the constant headache it causes and the eldest is on a phone ban. Fed up with saying no then it's in her hand again or tears and tantrums when the game doesn't work with my youngest. Its constant and whenever they use them they turn into vile grumpy children it's like a drug. Christ knows what the neighbours thought as I was shouting (a few f bombs may have come in too which I'm really not proud of) my girls are 11 and 7.

SnugglySnerd · 19/04/2020 16:59

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. You lot are fab!

Nice to see you Nocuts

Just put a very untidy quiche in the oven. Hopefully the filling won't leak out and cook onto the oven shelf this time .

Happierwithouthim · 19/04/2020 17:15

I just agreed a Facebook purchase of 12 David walliams books, 8 roald Dahl, and 7 horrible history books for €1 each, no diesel & no horse riding to pay for each week so I'm happy enough to buy a few bits for them

Curvy bluebell pic is awesome

Picnic with a view today, I had filled tortellini with chicken & prawns in a creamy sundried pesto sauce le yum as em would say, dog liked smell of it so I'd to eat it very fast Grin

Wolf does ex have space for furniture? Least in attic it's out of sight!

It's a bit chillier here today

StraightOuttaCamden · 19/04/2020 17:25

Nocuts- I have a 12 year old addicted to Roblox - she's a nightmare and one day last week she woke up at 4:30am To play the bloody game! She also been hassling me to buy pets but I'm 100% not giving in to that one.

I've just had a Le Creuset disaster, put the stoneware into the oven to heat up, took it out and it's come apart in my hand, never had this problem with any of their stuff before, but this one was a cheapie from TK Maxx so I'm wondering if that's why.Hmm
