Yes in boots in Dartmouth about 5 years ago on holiday. He still bought branded. Drives me potty. Advertising is very powerful.

Outfox the market emailed to say my bill was rising from £680 to £900 a year, I swap to ovo next week anyway. I’ve unsubscribed because despite that it makes me cross.

SneakyGremlins · 28/11/2018 19:50

That's a bit of a price jump! Shock

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 20:33

Today I have been researching a project I have had in mind for ages. It is a basic set of building blocks for different types of cooking so when my babies have to fly their cushty nest they won't starve or have to spend a fortune on food. It is a rabbit hole.

SneakyGremlins · 28/11/2018 20:34

Ooooh that sounds interesting!

ememem84 · 28/11/2018 20:59

Nsd. Although I am bidding on some Pyrex dishes on eBay. But haven’t won or lost yet...

Binge watched Sabrina on Netflix this afternoon and then baked some oat raisin cookies.

Ds was delighted to see me whenever dh brought him home. We’ve done some super playing (the latest game is take everything out of the toybox and then carefully put it al back in) had a bath (ds has learned the fun game of grabbing loads of bubbles and slapping them on my face...) read a book (I know a rhino) and more playing milk and bed. Phew.

I also managed to blow a lightbulb and trip the lights in the house. Dh has to tell me where the fuse box is. Luckily it didn’t happen last night while he was out...

Its horrible when you are worried you cant be off sick - of course that is always the very time when you become unwell... Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 21:31

born you are right it sucks. I appreciate how flexible my work are... Even down to not worrying if I can't be arsed changing out of my Jim jams. When I had the eye thing earlier in the year I was encouraged to go home when I looked stressed. It makes a big difference to how much effort I put in. You would hope employers would realise that if they treat us like robots they get the buy in of a robot.

LonelyOversharer · 28/11/2018 21:38

Hi, just checking in. Was a nsd, which was nice. A box arrived from amazon, just a few bits outstanding in the system now.

Sorted through a lot of boxes down to the Christmas bedding, (filled a bin bag en route, and found a lot of odd socks). But the littler girls are suddenly very excited! And changing their bedding themselves, without nagging! Found a £25 garden gift card, £15 book token, and refound my £40 lakeland birthday vouchers...so not a wasted escapade. I still have not found the £40 amazon card from last christmas. It's around here somewhere.

My cold has finally gone. I think it is my only illness this year, and it's been pissing me off. Just some residual snot to dispense with now.

Cagliostro · 28/11/2018 22:49

Spendy evening thanks to deliveroo. Honestly it’s dangerous living nearer town with access to these things 😳😂

Lovely lovely evening though. All washed and into jammies watching red dwarf together after an incredibly shitty week.

And lots of giggles as DH was telling us about his work with a charity who are tackling period poverty, this led to him singing a song about sanitary products (think “I’m a mooncup” to the tune of the old “‘ave a banana”) 🤔

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/11/2018 22:59

5 1/2 fucking hours on a packed train

SneakyGremlins · 28/11/2018 23:05

Haircut tomorrow, should hopefully only be around £7

Wolfcub · 28/11/2018 23:12

Urgh life that is not good. I hope you have gin

Cag glad you’ve had a lovely evening, sounds great to me

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/11/2018 23:13

Unfortunately I don't drink. We did have a laugh though. We were packed in the train aitrium and everyone was chatting and laughing. Mostly.

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 23:14

life that is rubbish. One of my mates was on a train today with water pouring through the roof and flowing across the floor...she wasn't sure the floor was from an over flowing toilet. Train travel I. This country is rubbish..... And driving is even worse.

Sneaky have you been to the college? Trainees there are good. Also the plan train into centers on Oldham St in Manchester. Leave plenty of time (I take papers to read & catch up on emails) but mostly free.

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 23:16

cag this is one of he good things about living in an area where he only takeaways are rubbish and delivering doesn't exist.

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 23:17

Delivering = Deliveroo

SneakyGremlins · 28/11/2018 23:22

I live ABOVE a takeaway Grin

Does the college do Male haircuts? Thought it was mainly women's hair they did, my friend did a course there and said she didn't do male hair.

That sounds rough life - I don't drink either!

Unescorted · 28/11/2018 23:28

Not seen any but no harm in asking. They have to train somewhere.

ememem84 · 29/11/2018 06:23

Morning all.

Slept ok still a bit snotty but am going into work today. Can always come home.
My work are great. They’re flexible if I need them to be and I’m flex with them. Eg yesterday I probably could have gone in but would have annoyed everyone with my coughing sneezing and snot face. So stayed home. It will go down as a sick day because I told them it was one but I checked emails intermittently and did a bitbof catch upnstuff. If I’d said I’d work from home I’d have been expected to be online and available all day.

Anyway. Back to it today. It sounds horrendous outside. Windy as hell.

Sounds awful her too.
Woken by the DC so didn't get any extras time in bed.
Christmas lunch today.

Wolfcub · 29/11/2018 06:42

It’s blowing a hoolie here too. Day off today to take dm Christmas shopping

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/11/2018 06:43

You can but ask Sneaky. Our nearest college doesn’t display any prices now for their salon.

Our takeaways are rubbish too.

LonelyOversharer · 29/11/2018 07:01

We are 9 miles from the nearest ok takeaway (6' from the one dp got compilobactor from), so tend not to. A chinese about 3 times a year. We'd rather drive to Macdonalds (18 miles) so that gives you an idea of local quality! We do have a deep fat fryer though, which kind of makes up for it.

Ds fell asleep on me at 8pm. This is unheard of madness. He was up at 11pm (I woke him to change him and send him off for a wee, so he watched a movie) but he clearly needed an extra few hours. He is a very sweaty sleeper.

Sounds like it is pouring with rain here.

ChristmasSeacow · 29/11/2018 07:50

That sounds horrendous Life. Times like that you either laugh or cry.

We have hundreds of takeaways within range (London outskirts) but in general I’m not a fan, they’re usually rather disappointing. Apart from the Indian but... diet. At least I don’t spend on them though!

Got through my Big Meeting at work yesterday. Went okay. They’d like me to stay on and do more so that’s nice - maybe for 6m or so. We need to talk terms, though the most important thing to me is flexibility - I’d sacrifice salary a bit for being able to work round DS. I think they might go for it, I’ll see how it goes next week.

Today I need to do a half day’s work and also go into London to open a company bank account. Then I can invoice for project Phase 1 - yay!

My eye is a little less red today but not less swollen. If it doesn’t improve by tomorrow I’ll have to go to the GP as the cream is supposed to be effective within 48 hours.

It’s wet and windy here today too, yesterday was hair-destroying weather as well. Sigh.

CurlsandCurves · 29/11/2018 08:07

Sorry cag and happier not been on the thread since. In terms of pressure you can just let it release on its own or if you’re in a hurry you can turn the valve to release it straight away. Recipe:

Onion or leek
Couple of carrots
Couple of red peppers
Tin of chopped tomatoes
500 ml stock
75g red split lentils (dried)
1tsp each of paprika, turmeric, cinnamon and cayenne.

Sauté off the veg, bung in the lentils and the spices get it all coated in spices. The add the tomatoes and stock and that’s it.
