Em it’s nice to see your sense of humour is in tact

AutumnLeaves12 · 07/12/2018 20:53

Good point em.

I'm properly fed up with being ill now. 1 week is quite enough. It's meant to get better now. Phoey.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/12/2018 21:00

Nice to 'see' you laska but so sorry to hear your sad news. I'm guessing nothing ever really prepares you for losing your mum.

em it's going to be a dry Christmas and new year then! Did you keep your mat clothes?

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/12/2018 21:01

Hey laksa. Sorry to hear that my lovely x

ememem84 · 07/12/2018 21:04

girlie nope. They’re gone.

I’ve just said to dh that this time we are keeping everything until I go through menopause. Or the kids (fuuuccccckkkk kids. Plural) have left home. Just so we can guarantee no more. Oh and also there will be no more.

OP posts:
ememem84 · 07/12/2018 21:09

wolfie if I don’t laugh about this I’m going to spiral out of control. 😂 So much going on in my poor brain right now.

Dh has picked me off to bed with catface a hot water bottle and a camomile tea.

Re dry Christmas. Yep. Well maybe one glass of bubbly. (And I was going to stop drinking anyway....haha! Is that wise with 2 kids?!)

Once I’ve got my head around it the practicalities are:

Buy car seat. New pram maybe. New car(?!) time off work/go back to work/nursery affordability x 2. Where the hell am I meant to keep two babies worth of stuff?! Boy vs girl. Etc etc. Waaaaaa

Oh and how will catface cope.

Other than that...calm as a swan here.

ememem84 · 07/12/2018 21:10

ALSO solves the problem of being hungover on Sunday while we take ds to dh’s works Christmas Santa breakfast. So silver lining...

AutumnLeaves12 · 07/12/2018 21:19

You're fabulously swan-like.

Sorry to be dumb but what does "af" stand for? I understand the principle but I have no idea what the words are.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/12/2018 21:22

Woah take a breath em, write a list... Get used to the idea first.... Then worry about what to buy.
Although the January sales are coming.

ememem84 · 07/12/2018 21:26

life yep. In reality the practicalities are: get used to idea. Go back to drs on Monday to fill in paperwork. Wait for scan. Enjoy Christmas. Then once we know when I’m due we count backwards and work out what we need and when.

autumn to me af means two things. “Aunt Flo” Or “as fuck...” as in chill as fuck. Or very relaxed. I’m imagining the af you’re referring to means the former.

OP posts:
AutumnLeaves12 · 07/12/2018 21:33

Gosh! I think I would prefer to chill as fuck, as a matter of fact.

I have a funny thought that I'm working on here. I wondered if anyone would like to join me?

I went and talked to dGP about my forgetful friend and he put on his most soothing and persuasive voice and said "You've told me that now, and you don't need to worry about it any more. I will take care of it."

It felt so extremely nice to have someone just take away a huge worry for me like that, and it got me to thinking about whether there are other pressures in life that we could just give to someone else, or blow away like the seeds on a dandelion clock.

I wondered if anyone had any? Or if you don't fancy it, you could just ignore the question and I will keep pondering it.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 07/12/2018 21:50

Spends today
Hummus £1.50 for a huge pot
Shopping just under £16, mostly on fresh fruit and veg, but also bread and loo rolls.
I did an audit before I went shopping and have lots of stuff so will use it all up before I buy all the christmas food next week.

£8 on tickets for me and ds2 to watch dd2 in a performance. The after school club she goes to is a mixture of drama/dance and music. It was really good.
£13 on McDonald's for dinner

LonelyOversharer · 07/12/2018 22:08

em huge congratulations. You can totally do this! You know you can. Ds will have a wee buddy. My middle girls are 21 months apart (did you dtd on ds' birthday per chance??). Look, you get all the nappies and drool over in one lump. You breezed through pregnancy last time, this will be the same

cag happy birthday! You are so very young! I have a decade on you.

Laska I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers we are all here, please stick around xxx

do not go into homebase. All the decorations are reduced. I returned the unopened roll of wallpaper +£18.50. Then spent £61!! I'm sure we needed candy cane lights, and a big navy blue flocked reindeer. I'm afraid I am going to Debenhams tomorrow for the pink flocked penguin. Help me.

£27 on MacDonalds for tea (for 5). And £14 in m&s on puddings and a silly musical tin of biccys. Dd1 steered me away to the tills saying, "I always feel like a carer for a special needs grown up with you - you are either being inappropriate or carrying something silly" as I wound up about 12 musical tins. I call it payback for all the tantrums she shared with other shoppers when she was a wilful wee thing Xmas Grin

AutumnLeaves12 · 07/12/2018 22:35

lonely that's hilarious.

I'm listening to Charles Trenet on youtube and pretending I'm in Paris on my holidays now.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 07/12/2018 22:38

Happierwithouthim · 07/12/2018 23:26

Laska sorry to hear about your dm, how will your df & db cope without her? Lovely to see you back

Sneaky I'm on the night nurse, it's good stuff Grin

I binge watched an entire week of emmerdale in front of the fire with a cozy blanket on, it was good to just chill out & not be doing or going anywhere

AutumnLeaves12 · 07/12/2018 23:40

I've been binge watching youtube all week. I feel it's a fitting way to prepare for Christmas. Smile

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 07/12/2018 23:53

Anything in particular? Smile

AutumnLeaves12 · 08/12/2018 00:04

Currently Riverdance, but also this lady, who I think does a lovely job singing:

and the second symphony of Charles Ives, just for randomness, and then the comedians: Foil, Arms and Hog.

I love their Brexit sketch.
