Oh no curvy Sad both mine were fine luckily as was I. I hate the dentist but mine is so lovely and great with the kids. He lets ds lie on me as he's so shy Grin

Had a good day with a friend and her dc today. Park and picnic this morning then back to hers for food. Now at ds' swimming lesson.

WreckTangled · 20/08/2018 18:23

Ds has just swam 10m non stop front crawl! Seeing as he used to cry before every lesson I'm so pleased!

Justanothermile · 20/08/2018 18:26

Hooray MiniWrecked StarStar

mammynowanauntyIRL · 20/08/2018 18:35

Way of saving money on cooling rack use your grill pan if you have one cag
Wreckds well done 👍🏼

Spends today €3.85 on hot chicken roll, I had brought a lunch but didn't fancy company so I bought this!

Will eat lunch for dinner.
Home and home alone so going to go for a walk on the beach first, need it

mammynowanauntyIRL · 20/08/2018 18:54

Weirdly today a courier rang me saying they wanted to deliver a letter to me.
It's from the toilet roll company, stating the delivery has been delayed to next week Hmm
Weirdly when I track the tracking # from groupon, it says it was delivered today but that was only the letter Hmm

Cagliostro · 20/08/2018 18:57

Ah yes wolf, valence plus. Much recommended on gameschooling groups

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/08/2018 19:10

I know wreck, I felt so guilty!
He is a new dentist as our last left to run her own practice and she was lovely.
So now DD doesn't want to go back, so will have to do lots of reassuring!

He did say that all the rest of her teeth are fine so that's good, I suppose.

Spends today
Dentist £21.60
Sainsbury's £3 on crisps

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/08/2018 19:16

Great news on the swimming wreckds

Bornlazy · 20/08/2018 19:45

Spends today £5 in the Poundshop - the white mini Toblerones were only £1 instead of £2 so total bargain! £8.40 in Aldi.

Boots had their Soltan suntan lotion set reduced to £11 something and I nearly bought it for next year but resisted as my house is full enoughHalo

Well done Wreck's Ds!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/08/2018 19:47

Not always snuggly with tyres. What brand did you get? It depends on your car type and usage too.

DC nicked my phone and I'm just trying to catch up. Cag PM me if you want me to bore you with more baking stuff. I don't profess to be an expert but I'm efficient and frugal.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2018 19:48

Suncream needs to be bought new each year. I've got a patch of hyperpigmention from using last years cream post peel.

SkeletonSkins · 20/08/2018 19:52

Thanks all for the welcome and tips. This thread moves super fast! I’ll have to be sure to check in regularly to keep up. Some great tips already though so thank you. Going to look into those SIM deals definitely. Ringing to reduce our overpayment on the mortgage tomorrow - sad to do this as have always overpaid but just have to view it as I will overpay more once I qualify in three years. Luckily the course I’m doing has pretty much a 100% employment rate so should be earning again quite quickly after qualifiying. I think our direct debits are the best we can do at the minute. The only one I go back and forth on is pet infurance for two dogs. It’s certainly not the cheapest company but they will pay directly to the vets and don’t quibble pay outs, which after a £1.5k bill a couple of years ago I do value.

Spends today - £6 on essentials in Spar and £2 for recorded delivery to send off a travel insurance claim. Really hope they pay out as I’m currently €295 down. Spoke to them on the phone and they should do.

northender · 20/08/2018 19:58

Quick post today. £80 on school uniform for dd.
£30 in aldi

Wolfcub · 20/08/2018 20:03

No hiding the baking talk ladies we can all benefit from the frugal tips
Well done Wreckds
Mortgage increase is confirmed at £9 a month following the interest rate rise. Not horrific but it adds to an already strained budget

mammynowanauntyIRL · 20/08/2018 20:14

I've never heard of freezing flour before. Never had weevils either, my uncle used to get them in his grain trailer

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 20/08/2018 20:49

I've had weevils twice, once in some lasagne sheets and once in dds hamster food 😷 so gross, everything is decanted into air tight tupperware now.

My mum has hurt her foot so have been helping her out today after work. She can't drive and is going stir crazy already!

Nsd.

Laska5772 · 20/08/2018 21:14

We had weevils once in our old house, I have SR and Plain flour in sealed containers now, but DH is a bread baker and buys big amounts..so far hes not said anything about noticing 'animals' getting in his flour (and as I dont eat bread on my LC diet and its only him that eats it I've not worried that much !! Grin .

I have been continuing to clear out clothes and stuff for the charity shop.. wardrobes and cupboards are looking much better and i have 5 bags to go to charity .. ( I really cba to ebay many things any more ) and a couple more bags for the textiles bank and the tip! I have the cupboard here in my 'study' to deal with which has some of sewing and craft stuff in as well as coats innumerable it seems .

Once I've done that I'm starting on the kitchen and the dining room (where we have a large dresser and another cupboard) ..

. One good thing is that we have never used the loft here but we do have under-eaves cupboards and i know there is stuff in there we haven't used since we moved here 13yrs ago ..

Feeling positive about this . I already got rid of loads of books Dvds Cds etc a few months ago when we decorated the lounge . So it s starting to feel like progress..

Yesterday was NSD.
Today was £6 soft play.

I've been enjoying all the chat about baking; I love to cook but have never really baked much but I've just started doing very simple things with DS like rice crispie buns and chicken/fish goujons and he loves it so I would like to try some simple baking with him. Could anyone point me in the direction of some very basic recipes we could start with?

QuitelovesStrictly · 20/08/2018 21:27

Thats
Baking with little ones is such fun -mine had aprons and stood and a chair with me behind them

slaps self ,think of the lack of sleep and mess
Cookies are a good first bake .
Dont be tempted to leave them in longer if they look squishy ,they are meant to come out like that.

Quite Muffins! really easy..
when DS was younger I got a copy of this book (it must have been the first edition).

We still use it .. really easy to do with kids and now DGCs .. and loads of great ideas . I got muffin tins and cases from Lakeland all those years ago ( still going strong) , but they are easy to get anywhere
