Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

wolf yes and no! We’ve been under offer since January.....but things are finally moving. Yay.

So once the other side have confirmed they’re happy I can get packing/storing etc.

QuiteCleanBandit · 02/08/2018 10:41

Sunny
If you have had D&V or either one for 27 days you really need this investigated further.
Bugs/Viral D&V is usually self limiting (I work in public health sort of ...) unless you have something underlying or Immunosuppression.
There are specific, quick tests for Norovirus so just becauae its not bacterial doesnt mean its viral unless a PCR is positive.
I would really urge you to get this investigated quickly .

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 11:12

Thanks Bandit. I have a telephone appointment booked so maybe the GP will help. I always think the downside of being properly ill is that it makes it hard to actually get to a GP in a good enough state to hold a conversation. It's a design flaw that, I feel.

That was a good phone call. Smile It was a nice Irish lady doctor who I could just say anything to, and I asked her all sorts of things that I've been wondering, but couldn't ask my regular GP.

She says that my thyroid test was a bit low last time so she's going to arrange a retest, and I've just to book an appointment and have that done when I'm recovered. She also said I've to come and be looked at next week if I'm not better yet.

That was good. Thanks Bandit.

Does anyone know anything about PAYE tax and second jobs?!

Wolfcub · 02/08/2018 13:25

Bank of England base rate increased Sad this is not good news for me

ememem84 · 02/08/2018 13:35

Oh bugger wolf not good for us either. New mortgage looming....

Having said that it’s not unexpected. I mean they couldn’t get any lower

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 13:40

Wreck I just asked my dh.

He says that if you get one of your old tax letters out that has your tax code, then you can phone the tax office and tell them that you now have two jobs. They will then send new tax codes to your two employers to make sure that your two jobs are taxed as belonging to just one person rather than to two separate people.

He says it only matters because your two salaries together might take you into a higher tax bracket and so you might need to pay more tax.

He says that if that's the case then it's better to do it as you go along rather than to be found out when you submit your tax return and have to pay a whole big chunk of tax at the end.

Does that help?

I’m out of bed. Have drink about a litre and half of water. Have showered. Have eaten lunch (leftover peanut butter chicken and spinach leaves) and a couple of squares of chocolate.

Have filed and slathered a load of “heel genius” foot cream on my feet and am curled up on the couch with catface. Feet are in fluffy socks.

So far nsd.

Ds’ godfather is coming over later to see him. I’m making veg curry.

Have also done a load of washing. Yay.

I haven’t checked my emails yet.

Wolfcub · 02/08/2018 13:42

Not unexpected but I’d hoped for another few months to start saving up for divorce costs (£500 to file without using a solicitor) before it happened. Can’t move mortgage until divorced so in a bit of a catch 22.

Sunny I hadn’t seen your response to others re sitting out in shorts before I wrote my earlier reply

WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 13:46

Thanks sunny but I don't earn enough to pay tax at all! Not from my main job any way and this is what they've taken from the toy shop job. I was expecting 20% which is fine but this is ridiculous

The Friendly Frugaleers: Saving and chatting as the heatwave rolls on.
WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 13:46

They have both my jobs down on the hmrc website so no worries there

Flappyjack · 02/08/2018 14:00

wolf and em interest rates going up isn't good for us either. We are on a variable rate with another two years on this contract. Bugger.

Been to Tesco for a top up shop and a thank you card £9.31

DS is football camp training today. I've spent an hour ironing today. Going to visit DM in an hour.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 14:06

Wreck is it a temporary job? Maybe they are assuming that you will have it all year, but if it's temporary then your annual earnings from it would be much smaller.

Not to worry Wolf I like that you asked. Smile

WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 14:13

Sunny yes it is but even so they've taxed way more than 20%!

Bornlazy · 02/08/2018 14:23

wreck that's 40% which must be a mistake if you don't normally pay tax. Think you'll need to phone them.

WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 14:46

Thanks born I called them and for some reason they hd my estimated nhs wages as £72k (I wish!) so I will get it back next month. Doesn't help me now though...

Bornlazy · 02/08/2018 15:19

Wreck that's terrible. It's a rubbish time of year to have your wages messed up.

It's funny how many NHS workers there are on here... maybe funny's not the right word.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 15:51

You really seem to be getting it financially on all sides at the moment Wreck. I'm sorry to hear that. It can't be making life easy there.

I hope that the huge wedge of cash that you're owed brings you a bit of breathing space to make up for it next month.

I'm feeling much much better for having talked to that nice GP. That also got me a bit of breathing space. Thanks for prodding me in the right direction Born and Bandit.

Though I also think I have now worked out what has happened to my own GP, and am feeling bad for him. It doesn't seem right that GPs are allowed to fix us, but we are not allowed to rescue them when they need it.

Bought a few small bits for newly decorated room, rug and throw from ikea and a couple of photo frames for the holiday photos from wilko. I’m not keen on the holiday photo which has me in it but I think it’s important for ds

Dm has patiently unknotted my beautiful skein if she-hulk whilst I was away. Annoyingly though I have no idea what pattern I was part way through making with it. I will try and remember for a few days and then frog and start something new

ememem84 · 02/08/2018 16:13

I have basically done nothing today. It’s been quite nice.

I have checked emails now and the team seem to have everything under control.

It is very quiet.

I’ve done zero decluttering. Zero cleaning. But have done a lot of reading. Tv watching. Napping. And eaten a bit too. Tummy still feels a bit wibbly but don’t know whether it’s something, or maybe the heat, or maybe stress (or relief at the house move being back on...) or what. I’m due “on” next week so it could be that. And I think I’m probably getting a cold. Throat is sore and my nose is a bit snuffly (thanks Ds!) so it could be something to do with that.

I have avoided internet shopping.

WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 16:20

Well done em!

Thanks sunny we can pay all the essential bills and that's the main think.

Today:

£57 vets vaccinations and worming tablet
£35 Tesco

Two hours spent cleaning the inside of my car Blush it was full of crap and so much sand! All nice and clean now though. Hung washing our, tidied downsides and hoovered (again).

Need to get the washing in and cook the dc and dh dinner before I go out in an hour to the cinema with a friend. Hopefully dh will leave work on time...

ememem84 · 02/08/2018 16:31

I have emailed about getting an appointment to have an addition to my tattoo done. But the place isn’t open until September now.

SnugglySnerd · 02/08/2018 16:42

Pleased arranged my 3 year fixed rate mortgage yesterday!

Urban beach was a big hit. Lunch less so although I thought the quinoa things were delicious. The dts ate a bit before discovering that they make brilliant missiles that explode on landing!

ememem84 · 02/08/2018 17:59

I’m watching the letdown on Netflix. I’m really enjoying it. It’s fairly realistic.

Especially the part they where they call the baby a dickhead. I’ve called ds a little prick. When he didn’t sleep from midnight until 6am once when he was little little.
