Nofilter I think I remember you from before. Welcome back.

I'm total crap at money at the moment and I've been here continuously for four years, so do please pull up a chair and join us. We can only do our best.

Wolfcub · 08/07/2018 20:34

Dinner out with dm whilst ds had contact. She paid but I used my discount card.
£2 parking. Have ordered tape measure (need new bras) and secateurs as mine are buggered.
Having a quiet gin in the garden it’s been a tiring weekend

Welcome back Nofilter!

I've been busy frugalling this evening. I've switched energy supplier and home insurance saving roughly £40 a month in total. Then did weekly shop for £61 which isn't too bad for 5 of us. It'll go up a bit in the summer hols with us all being at home but our nappy consumption seems to have slowed down. We've only used a pack and a half this week instead of the usual 2 packs. Every little helps!

I'm desperate for the loo but just heard dh get in the shower. I hope he's not too long or we might be claiming for accidental damage of the carpet on our new home insurance!!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 08/07/2018 21:23

Grin snuggly

I need some flip flops, my sketchers go walk are on their third season and I'm not wearing them every day of our holiday.

Would either of you know whether fitflops or Havaianas are more comfy for walking around sightseeing?

ememem84 · 08/07/2018 21:27

It was so much fun.

We’re a bit sandy - the tide went out and sand was revealed so I sat ds on it and let the waves lap over him - he thought this was hilarious.

He had a proper swim. Full on submerged In the water and kicked his chubby little legs.

And he super enjoyed the paddle board. We sat on it and we were pushed about on the water. Told dh not to go out of his depth so at our deepest we floated to probably 5ft of water. Ds sat safely between my legs though and it was flat flat flat.

Gorgeous day. I was nervous taking him to the beach. And super anxious about going on the board myself. I’ve paddled before. So knew I could do it. Took myself off for a pootle around the bay standing up. Man I’m exhausted now. I forgot what a workout paddle boarding is.

Nsd.

I’m off tomorrow with ds. Yay!

We may do the beach again but probably won’t take the board. Don’t think I’ll be able to manage it on my own! 30 degrees ish here today. Same tomorrow.

@mammynowanauntyIRL. Can I recommend to you my latest purchase, Kahuka flip flops. Soles made from recycled rubber, memory foam to mould to your feet and really soft fabric so no toe post rubbing.

So comfy it’s unreal and yet so supportive. I’m reserving judgement for a while longer but my plantar fasciitis has all but disappeared too since wearing them.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 08/07/2018 22:23

@CurlsandCurves would they be durable enough for walking around town? Tempted especially as they're buy one get one free at the moment

Cagliostro · 08/07/2018 22:27

Tempted too! I never wear flip flops as they are uncomfy

Nofilter · 08/07/2018 22:52

Thanks sunny and snuggly this thread really helped last time...

I haven't ordered anything today and only spent £12.10 on a Chinese... which wasn't an essential spend either! Blush

Nofilter · 08/07/2018 22:52

And I've hardly eaten any of it as I can't seem to get an appetite in this hot weather! Anyone else struggling to eat

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/07/2018 22:58

My dh just said he isn't that hungry too. I think it must be the heat. Also we're hardly wearing any clothes so between no food and no washing, I think it's going to be a frugal month, even if we don't try very hard. Yay!

Cagliostro · 08/07/2018 23:00

Welcome nofilter I really hear you on the urge to buy stuff! Really increases at times of stress too. Sadly my appetite does the same so I think that's overriding the heat atm.

Ikea delivery tomorrow woohoo! DH is going over early (9-1 slot) then we will join him to help build and fill shelves etc

CremeEggThief · 08/07/2018 23:08

Thanks for the new thread, Wolf.Star

I've enjoyed reading about everyone's weekends, apart from hearing about Mammy's poor husky, and of course, the hamster. How is the husky doing now?

Spends: £6.6.60 bus fare; £23.70 on a delicious brunch with my friend on my card (she gave me £12 cash back); £1 on 5 cards in the Card Factory; £2.99 on a top for a pal's son in H&M; £1.59 Tesco (broccoli, spring onions and S.T.s)

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/07/2018 23:12

I've been buying a lot of stuff recently because I'm trying to fix myself up. I go through phases of this, where I've suddenly remembered that self-care matters. It always seems to cost a lot somehow.

My recent expenditure has included:

  • Pelvic floor fixing machine (used once, because a hundred other things got in the way.)
  • Violin lessons to try to learn to release stress. (Working!)
  • Getting clarinet bits and books because playing it is kind of meditative. (Working!)
  • Booking appointment with root canal specialist, pending.
  • ASD test (I'm really spoiling myself now.)

All this really cost a lot, but I'm hoping it will cause general betterness to come upon me. Hope to gawd it works.

This is a thing that I learned from the frugalleers though. I used to be an utter scrooge, and actually there are things that are worth spending money on.

What do you spend on nofilter?

AdoraBell · 08/07/2018 23:19

Back from holiday. Will try to keep up now.

Thanks for the new thread Wolf Thanks

DD1 has decided to go vegan. Both of us are trying to get our heads around it.

purlandvick · 08/07/2018 23:23

Have any of u tried ace laundry bleach . It's sold in poundshop n supermarket. It can be used on coloured clothes, it isn't like normal bleach. It's great on greys . I have converted loads to it . It's also great on blood .

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/07/2018 06:47

I use astonish powder bleach which is the same as ace. You can clean slabs with it too.

QuiteCleanBandit · 09/07/2018 06:48

Morning !
purl
I use something similar from my local Budgens but its similar to Vanish powder but about £1.29 instead of £5 ish .
Only use very occasionally these days as I do my own laundry only.

Normal bleach rots natural fibres eventually.
Work-ugh

SnugglySnerd · 09/07/2018 06:53
