Beach is usually a cheap day out too.

CurlsandCurves · 24/07/2018 19:55

Cag that is so cute your little ones making videos!

Had a lovely day at the park. Met the friend I had planned to meet and met a couple of other friends too by coincidence. So all the kids played together really nicely, and we all got to chat and chill.

I rather oddly have a patch of sunburn on my left knee, lol.

Downside of this heatwave is we have had to abandon the conservatory. We do have air con in there but it’s donkeys years old and making a worrying rattling noise when used and it’s hotter than hell in there. So the PS4 is now connected to the main tv in the living room. Great! So when DS1’s mates come over tomorrow for his birthday sleepover DH and I have nowhere to go apart from up to our room (or maybe the pub...🤔)

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2018 20:04

Sammy Is there compo if the pension fails though? I've known it happen.

ememem84 · 24/07/2018 20:08

fluffy I didn’t really need the bag anyway so I’m glad I didn’t spend. See? See how I’ve changed?!

I’m in with ds at the moment. This is becoming a regular thing. He goes to bed and cries. He won’t settle if he’s up either as he’s tired. Either way we get a flighty my screamy baby.

It’s exhausting. He’s slightly quieter if one of us is in with him. But only slightly.

I was saying to dh yesterday I had the toughest day with ds. Because he cried a lot. It was exhausting and there were times I didn’t want to be around him. I hate myself for thinking that. But sometimes just sometimes I don’t want to have to deal with shouty baby. I just want to have smiley happy baby. And leave the tears to someone else.

Can you get a night nanny?!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/07/2018 20:10

That's totally normal em. Love them but don't always like them.
I think there is a gap in the market for night nanny. Doing the grouchy evening routine and sleep time.

£1.30 cottage cheese, £9 co-op.

Feel like crap again. Child is back and now have a cough going into my chest

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2018 20:16

£10 wilko. Cat litter, bug spray and setting spray.

Wolfcub · 24/07/2018 20:16

Em definitely normal. I still think that 11 years later. Possibly more so although it’s easier to ignore being a self centred knob than it is crying and screaming; not that da is beyond either of those

Wreck
My DSIL works for the NHS, rise is due this month.
Backpay next month.
She isnt impressed as it is around 0.4% once you add up what she would have had in the longterm-well and truly shafted !

ememem84 · 24/07/2018 20:38

Finally. He’s asleep. I think. He’s wiggled himself out of view on the monitor. I left the room to have a shower get some peace and I darent go back in for fear of waking the beast. It only took 50 minutes this time.

QuiteCleanBandit · 24/07/2018 20:42

Is he pooing ok em ?
Absolutely exhausting for you -isnt it DH turn ?

Wrongwayup · 24/07/2018 21:34

NSD- Will need petrol tomorrow also car is being serviced and I am am having my hair done - so tomorrow will be spendy - ahhhhhhhhhh!

ChristmasSeacow · 24/07/2018 21:37

Is it a sleep association problem Em, where he needs you in the room? Dd was like that for ages (wanting to be held) so we did sleep training. It was painful but it worked! She’s brilliant now, we put her down awake and she almost always goes to sleeep on cue, night times and naps (though afternoon naps still overlap with the school run so not ideal in the week). Payback for the first 9 months of awfulness though, and it may not last!

In fact, she’s been quite upset tonight. She just seems really discombobulated to be in a travel cot in a different house. And going to bed 2 hours later than normal... she’s been all over the shop but has conked out st last.

We’ve got Ocado coming tomorrow between 6.30 and 7.30am as it was the only slot I could get (had to change from delivery this evening as we weren’t sure if/when we’d get here). So no lie in for me! Might have an easy day. Our cottage is beautiful but not very practical in some ways - parking isn’t right outside (we have a LOT of stuff!) and the stairs are very steep. It’s also a scary windy hairpin very steep single-track trail to get here, I was holding my breath at times when driving! But Yorkshire was looking very handsome as we drove through and it’s only for 4 nights then on to Loch Ness. Exciting!

It didn’t rain in the end but it’s definitely noticeably fresher than London ☺️

Wolf I hope you enjoy your trip, and that yours is looking up Mammy!

ememem84 · 24/07/2018 21:37

Yep. Pooping like a trooper. Not too much. Not too little. Nursery said he’d done 4 today. But then he’s had a fair bit of fruit.....

He’s doing that developmental phase being super tired not wanting to sleep thing.

It would be dh’s turn but he was busy making lunches for tomorrrow (chicken burritos) and sorting out the food shop which he did earlier and washing up. So he’s doing enough!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2018 21:44

Life Do you need to see your gp?.

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/07/2018 21:48

That's great that your dh is being such a trouper Em. I love to hear that he's doing well. Good luck with the sleeping stuff. I know it can be a real labour of love sometimes.

I wish this bug that I've got would go away. I'm starting to wonder if I've gone and got salmonella from fooling around with bird's nests in the garden. I wish it would go away, because I've phoned my GP a bit too often recently and it's getting embarrassing. I could do with just being actually healthy for a while, at least until he slightly forgets what I look like. BlushConfused

QuiteCleanBandit · 24/07/2018 21:53

Ah thats good em will let DH off then Wink
It does sound like things have improved on that front .
Hope its the weather and DS settles soon.
Once they are through one phase there is always another one along shortly after Grin

QuiteCleanBandit · 24/07/2018 21:57

Oh Sunny poor you, thats miserable .
I would see the GP if a stomache bug lasted longer than a few days as usually they are self limiting.
Are you drinking plenty ?

ememem84 · 24/07/2018 21:58

He has improved. I started initially just doing things for ds and I. So bags were packed for us the night before etc. But dh soon jumped on the bandwagon. He seemed to realise quickly that getting organised is key. He’s still not great at it. But we’re gettinf there.

Lunches and snacks for tomorrow are made. Dinner is prepped ready for the slow cooker. Dh did this.

He will have to faff about in the morning finding his gym stuff. But one day he’ll realise that it’s easier to faff of an evening.

Ds is apparently going through the “sequences” phase. According to wonderweeks. He is also teething (apparently teef come in in pairs. He has 7. So we’re due another soon.) and apparently he suffers from FOMO (fear of missing out). He is such a nosy. Wants to be involved in and know everything. He’s also getting so frustrated by not crawling. He is so close. But can’t quite do it. Everyday I watch him and think “today’s going to be the day” but not yet!

Sammy900 · 24/07/2018 22:04

good point Fluffy I shall add that to my list of questions....I think in general there is protection for 85 grand if things mess up with the building society......not sure about what happens with my work pension

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/07/2018 22:23

Thanks Bandit yes I'm glugging litres of water, and making sure to have ready salted crisps and sardines and smoked salmon that have loads of salt in them so I've got the hydration covered.

There's just so much fun stuff going on at the moment and I keep having to cancel things, and it's really annoying. I've had to cancel three violin lessons, two piano lessons, ds's dance performance, the Beaver camp, his school trip, and now we have two work summer parties on Friday and Saturday. At the rate I'm going I have zero chance of getting to either. It's a shame as everything was going so well for a bit and now here I am stuck again like a big stuck thing.

Also I'm not sure if I'm meant to tell the GP is we might have salmonella as ds and I are both quite complicated, so possibly he would want to know that. Or possible he would like us to just go away so he can attend to his other 1698 patients. OMG who even knows?

Maybe it will just go away in two days and I'll forget it ever happened.
