Evening all, not much to report here NSD.

Had a disappointing dinner 😕 chicken in a marinated sauce with rissoto, the rissoto took 20 mins plus in the microwave which seemed ridiculous and wasn't that nice.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/04/2018 19:02

Spent £9 on parliament souvenir for the DC. Tour was good. Defo recommend it.
I found out today that civil servants got into the Churchill war rooms free too. Will do that next time.

All spends on expenses. Macros shit mammy but steps are ace.
Broke my new work phone today too. Oops what's the record for the shortest job?

Laska5772 · 25/04/2018 19:26

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/04/2018 19:49

That makes me feel better wolf. I'm just not used to carrying laptop and phone after 10 year of not being allowed them.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/04/2018 19:50

I really want to go to the war rooms next time I'm there

Wolfcub · 25/04/2018 19:56

It did a whole James Bond wiping itself self district thing. I was very worried and my colleagues took the piss !

Laska5772 · 25/04/2018 20:04

Ooh.. I may have a frugal win.. Last week I decided to treat myself to some Jo Malone cologne.. .the payment was messed up, then the order went missing, then they said they would sent it but it seems they didn't.

Today they have emailed me to say that they are sending it AND refunding me the ££.. . Fingers crossed!! ..

I have to say though I wasn't expecting them to do this , their customer service have been really helpful so far , I cant fault them in trying to sort it out .... Lets hope it all turns up along with the refund eh? I would be really chuffed then .

ememem84 · 25/04/2018 20:19

CremeEggThief · 25/04/2018 20:59

Spendy day for me too.
£6.50 bus fares.
£2.80 Costa.
£30.99 Sainsburys, after I used £5 of Nectar points (I bought a Duplo set for £4 and a Julia Donaldson board book £2.99 for my nephew's first birthday, 2 cards, wrapping paper, 3 padded large envelopes and a 5 pack of knickers for £7 and a pair of grey girlfriend jeans for £16 for myself. I'm a bit unsure of the girlfriend/mom jeans trend, but I want something more relaxed than my usual skinnies and jeggings for summer, so I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone!)
£22 Next on grey chinos.
£2.19 in Screwfix on a wall bracket for my washing line. My first time in there!
Total:£64.58, if my mental maths is right.

Cagliostro · 25/04/2018 22:27

Ug. I felt the mega mum guilt today. Went to the play. Fed cagletini beforehand, she was perfectly happy and has been fine on 1-2hr trips out with DH. She was crying like mad for me when we got out. 😭😭😭 I think she is starting to get separation anxiety as she cheered up as soon as I held her, before I even fed her. She’s been fine since (super happy chatty playing... had a very splishy splashy bath and another meal in which she munched on a pork rib like a cave girl 😂) but I feel all off kilter. Even though she was perfectly safe and snuggled with DH for the hour, she just needed mummy and I wasn’t there 😭😭😭 somebody kick me please!

(Apologies for totally non frugal related post!)

ememem84 · 25/04/2018 22:36

So. While cagletini had ribs (I bloody love that kid and her eating!!) Ds had pork chow mien at nursery. And also fish with royals and French beans. That kid eats better than me!

I also have a hilarious video of him from nursery. He’s wearing a straw boater, a scarf and waving a handbag about. Today they did dressing up. He was so happy!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 25/04/2018 23:23

I've managed to misplace two bank cards this week Confused using my interest free credit card and keeping a tally in ynab.

Laska hope nothing's amiss upsetting your sleep

Lifelong at least you got something right, my day was carb heavy plus spent over four hours driving so didn't get my water in, will compensate for this tomo

ChristmasSeacow · 26/04/2018 00:03

Fairly pissed. Will update tomorrow. Hic.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/04/2018 06:20

I did not get my water in either. Going to order a super size water bottle. I have a cracking headache from dehydration and less caffeine.

Nsd planned today. Will return some shorts today to hof

LonelyOversharer · 26/04/2018 08:34

Had a good day yesterday, got some work done, helped dp sort out his bit of the shed, and his turbo/bike/computer/32" telly/endless bike gubbins have left the building!! I have a bit of conservatory back. A lot of plans and cleaning to do in there. But progress.

Popped out to hand in urgent work, then tescos, ok was £45 but got dd1 all her food for the DofE thing this weekend, and topped up, no bread in the house. She is happy with what I got for her.

Then I took a time chance and went to the Range. I have to go back! I ran out of time, and was late picking up the little dc. I absolutely hate being late and was cross that I chanced it. Anyhoo I spent £27 in there. Bits for dd1, ground mat etc, and 3 wierd fruit plants. I got a wineberry (like a blackberry/raspberry hybrid) a polish bramble (some type of wild raspberry?) and a blackberry, with foliage like an acer. There was more but I was rushing. Huge, beautifully growing plants, £5.99 each.

I then actually got on and cleaned the easy half of the kitchen, sausages for tea, and worked. The triumph was getting ds asleep at 2150. This sounds very late, but is 2 hours early for him. He was knackerd, and not being very nice. So he went to bed. No faffing. He slept right through until 0730, so hopefully will feel great today.

cag no telling off from me. Our babies are clingy! But you must not feel bad. She was safe and sound with daddy, she will never remember it, and you had some valuable 1 on 1 time with the caglets.

I appreciate now that I did very 'safe' weaning. Finger foods, yes, but not full on blw. You know it wasn't even a thing when I had the dd's, and I went to posh yummy mummy groups (that I did not fit into!). And mine had a lot of jars, especially the puddings. They basically rejected my beautifully home made stuff. Except dd2. She always has eaten everything I have put infront of her.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/04/2018 10:51

£60 vet appt. poor cats gum is sore. Might need another dental.
£10 petrol.

There’s some new topcashback grocery offers on. Cream tea menu basically.

ememem84 · 26/04/2018 11:25

The fire service have been!!! Hooray!! And thankfully I don’t think we’ll need a major spend In our apartment. Fire blanket in kitchen, smoke detectors everywhere, fire strips round doors. So once we have a quote for this we can get on and sell. Hopefully. Wooooohooooo!!!

Laska5772 · 26/04/2018 11:45

Great news Em . Are your purchasers still in the frame?

Mammy Thanks ..I am fretting about DS and its keeping me awake.. (I know there's not much I can do ) .. He is very depressed and only a week left in his job.. he has another interview today , and another lined up .but he is not in the best head space for job interviews really .. but. Fingers crossed!

ememem84 · 26/04/2018 14:06

I believe so laska we haven’t heard otherwise anyway!

Productive day here. Apple and mango purée made for ds and frozen in ice cube trays.

Two banana cakes and some chocolate banana ice cream made (this was an experiment. Mushed bananas and added cocoa. Frozen).

Wolfcub · 26/04/2018 15:25

Woo. Good news Em.

WreckTangled · 26/04/2018 16:48

Ds swam at school today for the first time, I was a bit worried as dd says the pool is freezing. Got home and there's a note in his book saying 'ds is fantastic at swimming! What a super star!' I'm really pleased for him as he lacks confidence in general so this will hopefully be a real boost for him.

£14.99 amazon on some bathroom scales.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/04/2018 17:01

Felt a bit hung over this morning... I went to the pub last night with a friend and had a couple of small glasses of wine. Fine. I didn’t fancy a third one but we were still chatting so I thought I’d sign off with a small Madeira or similar dry sherry... the bartender charged me for a normal one but poured me a huge wine glass full! I think perhaps he was new and knew nothin about sherrry. Anyway, it’s was very tasty and so I drank it all - hence the delicate head this morning! That and getting up twice in the night with dd.

Laska I am not surprised you are worrying about DS. I felt like this about my sister for a period when she couldn’t seem to find a job /her way straight after she graduated. It was so difficult watching from the sidelines. She got herself sorted in the end but I think there was a touch of depression there for a while. It was a vicious cycle.

Good news about the flat Em. Are you expecting to sell to your original buyers pretty soon then?

Blimey Lonely how does your DS manage on so little sleep? Is he just wired in the evenings?

Am sending back almost all of the clothes I ordered for myself. However, there was one top (t shirt but drapey sleeves) that I really liked so I will get that in some more colours.

Took DD to a free stay and play at the children’s centre today. She seems to enjoy herself, though she is still a bit grumpy in general. Then £6 on two loaves of seedy bread and £3 on strawberries.

Cag, I will send that parcel by the end of the weekend come hell or high water. Don’t buy vests and sleepsuits yet!!

Laska5772 · 26/04/2018 17:21

DS said he thought the interview went well today.. I have everything crossed..
The trouble is that is temp contract ends next week..
He will not be able to afford his flat if he has to go on universal credit..

Its been a long journey with DS. But the last couple of years he has been employed, held down a job and got more qualifications ( he has dyslexia and dropped out of college ) . I cant help but worry
