It’s forecast laska

23 degrees in ds’ room according to the egg thermometer thingy.

He’s just sicked again. Both today and yesterday’s sicks followed a nap and a couple of spoons of a more lumpy dinner. I suspect lumps have confused him and it hasn’t helped he’s having trouble clearing his snots.

I just did the snot sucker thing. Eugh. Gross. Eugh. But oddly satisfying.

Laska5772 · 21/04/2018 20:42

Yuck em just yuck

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/04/2018 21:00

LOL! Laska This must be what it's like being a medic and getting everybody's gross body details every day. How on earth do they do it? Girlie do you have super powers?

Em Sorry to hear that. I have a cold too so can send solidarity to your ds at least.

In first world problems here, dh was right cheesed off earlier as he had opera tickets and forgot to go until five minutes after curtain up. Ya gads.

WreckTangled · 21/04/2018 21:03

Oh no sunny, how could he forget?!

I love a good bodily fluid expulsion. Pus is the best.

ememem84 · 21/04/2018 21:10

Soooorrrrrrryyyy!!

sunny feel better soon! Colds in this hot weather are rubbish!

What opera were the tickets for?

I’ve never seen opera. I’d love to go. IVe heard it but apparently to really appreciate it you have to go live.

CremeEggThief · 21/04/2018 21:14

Another one who hasn't heard of Nobbly Bobblies here! I would love and ice cream or ice lolly now.Envy

Glad your leaving do went well, Life.

Spends: £35 on a pedicure, half leg and bikini wax; £3.65 Greggs lunch; just under £5 Asda.

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/04/2018 21:22

Em I just looked online and it says it's the Marriage of Figaro. Dh likes opera I think because his Dad teaches opera singing and sometimes dh was the child actor in their productions when was small and appropriately waif-like.

I never go with him so I'm not sure I've ever seen an actual opera myself. I've seen them on the telly though. Ds gets weirdly entranced by tv opera and will watch it for hours.

I'm not sure that's right actually. I think I have seen one by I think I lost that memory to baby-brain.

ememem84 · 21/04/2018 21:29

Oooh sunny I’ve heard of that one!!

Unescorted · 21/04/2018 21:40

Sorry. fell off the thread.

Sea hope you are ok. And your dad is comfortable.
Em working in guilt is so unfair. I do not know a single father who feels guilty about going to work.
Wolf I hate ants. If you want to stop them and you are in a hurry break the trail with bleach. Just wipe a bleach covered cloth through their marching line. They then can't smell the formic acid they use to mark the track. That way you don't come back to an infestation. If anyone has a tip for keeping slugs out of the laundry I would be grateful.

I have been in the garden today...I am finally back to soil conditioning since we had a mates tail infestation. Not eco friendly but I opted for a scorched earth policy. 2years of industrial strength weed killer does not leave a lot of living things.... Except hyacinth and Spanish bluebells. The Vege beds are back. My back is cabbaged.

Unescorted · 21/04/2018 21:43

Opera is fab. The Italians are easiest for a first go. I love the OTTness of them.

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/04/2018 21:48

My ds also really likes Gilbert and Sullivan which is jollier and involves less grimness. We get them on video. He also like a french opera called "la fille du guerre". I'm not totally sure why that is when he won't allow me to watch also-nice things like gardening shows.

QuiteCleanBandit · 21/04/2018 22:06

I dont go to the big Tesco and reluctantly go to the express plus Nobbly Bobblys are Nestle 😕

Have just watched Gardeners World on catch up with DH and DC pkus a lovely programme about a wild garden ( cant remember exactly what the title was)
It was narrated in English by a French David Attenborough who had the most lovely sift voice.
It was like being wrapped in warm blankets and handed a hot chocolate .
Red squirrels,Dormice and a Truffle pig .
Heavenly Smile

ememem84 · 21/04/2018 22:13

I love gardeners world. I don’t even have a garden but find it soothing/calming.

I’m going to go to the opera when they do a live screening at either the cinema or the theatre here.

When we were in Florence we passed the opera house and we almost went. But it was sold out until the day we left. Sigh.

We’ve just watched the queens birthday thing on bbc. Sting and shaggy. Hmm.

QuiteCleanBandit · 21/04/2018 22:19

Sting and Shaggy 🤤🤤🤤
For her Majestys birthday ?
Speechless !

Monty is so calming and his dogs so gentle and well behaved .
We have a huge garden with an orchardy bit and a veg patch.
Blink and it looks like jungle

ememem84 · 21/04/2018 22:25

Yep. They’ve released a single together. Hmm it is so odd. There’s a part which sounds exactly like “so lonely”

I like them both. In their own ways. Shaggy is hilarious. My ringtone for dh is currently mr boombastic. 😂 and sting is sting.

We had our honeymoon in Venice. And whilst there we happened upon st Marks square where they were setting up a concert. Sting and the Venice symphony orchestra. Dh got tickets. It was amazing.

Unescorted · 21/04/2018 22:27

La Traviata Is my favourite. Although it doesn't translate well into English..... Lots of "the curse, the curse the curse" to make up the syllables. Italian has a lot more scope for sounding pretty while not saying much.
I find G&S a bit empire-ish and far too jolly. Opera has to be darkly comic at its lightest just before everyone dies because of a misunderstanding or a horrible lingering death from consumption to give the hero time to realise he is in love with the corpse to be. That way you can get another act in to exploit the chestbeating of the survivors.

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/04/2018 22:34

Unescorted Gosh!

Dh is back and says it was good but the other one on Tuesday was better. He says it was called Gianni Schicchi.

Unescorted · 21/04/2018 22:39

I will have to look out for that. Not one I have seen.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 21/04/2018 22:42

I love gardeners world as well!!

Yep def superpowers sunny 😉 I don't cope well with phlegm though tbh, infected wounds, leg ulcers, looking into various orifices all fine though 😂

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/04/2018 23:25

Yikes! Well I'm very glad you're there then because you have some pretty amazing skills. Smile

ememem84 · 22/04/2018 06:54

girlie took me a while there to realise what you meant by phlegm (flem) gross. There is absolutely no way I could have been a doctor/nurse/healthcare professional. Nope. Too gross.

I don’t think we had the storm here. It is still roasting. It hit Southampton (friends there said the hail was loud and big enough to set car alarms off!) and the north coast of France but must have skimmed over us.

Car boot in a bit with dsis.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/04/2018 07:20

€133.95 yesterday on SuperValu delivery, they sent me another €15 off €155 spend, Ive had codes for almost every shop since I started in January Grin

Dds Birthday cake, name spelt in silver balls. I didn't make the dogs myself. It wasn't frugal but dds happy with it, and it tastes good so I'm happy with that.

Unescorted copper tape around where the slugs are getting in, you can buy it on a roll they mustn't be able to grip to it.

Not caught up and dd is now up

We must have had a lot of rain too because the box I put under my greenhouse downpipe is full of rainwater. That will solve my plant problem nicely. I didn't hear the storm though.

Wolfcub · 22/04/2018 07:42

That’s a great cake Mammy

Lousy nights sleep or rather not-sleep

Ds has activities all day, I have ironing to do. I’m going to de-dh parts of the house For the sake of my own mental health but not go overboard for the sake of ds’s

I may go and watch ds later

WreckTangled · 22/04/2018 07:44

We had a good storm.

Mammy that's brilliant Smile
