Oh fuck there are no tea bags. This is officially a crisis

Unescorted · 16/03/2018 22:13

Agggghhhhhh! And breathe. Thanks for listening.

"Em* you house move is sounding stressful. I have had a similar last minute snag today... The difference is I have a team of solicitors that I can turn to.

Sea you are awesome.

Life well done. It is difficult to move about the civil service.

My DD has been v. Frugal. She has got her prom dress for £7 posted. Her friends have been spending £ hundreds. DD is very proud of herself. She looks stunning. And she has the back up yet to arrive.... Another £5.

I called the drs today to check if they had managed to put a referral in for my eye. 10 days after they received the letter the are "going to do it today" . How difficult is it to scan a letter ( I offered to end an electronic copy but they don't have email) and attach it to a file. I am a bit peeved.

CremeEggThief · 16/03/2018 22:19

At least there's a back up plan then, Em.

Wow, top marks to your DD, Unescorted. What a superb example of frugality!Star

Spends: £10 bikini wax and £4.05 Wetherspoons brunch (veggie sausage, egg, cheese and hash brown in a wrap and 2 lattes. Le yum!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/03/2018 06:09

Off out on overtime this morning. 5 hours.
Then hair cut, Aldi, Iceland, Sainsbury's tomorrow. Also footy and swimming. Gonna be spendy.

Top prom frugalling there. For those prices she could keep both and get changed half way.

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/03/2018 06:57

Thanks for the encouragement on the car sharing. In case it's not clear at all, my dh's office is walking distance from our house, which is why it would be bonkers to car share. LOL!

WreckTangled · 17/03/2018 06:57

I'm not doing anything this weekend. So it'll be a nsweekend.

Unescorted that's terrible Angry it doesn't take ten days to turn around an urgent referral.

Unescorted · 17/03/2018 07:08

We were going to go to my mil today but she has a cold. I am not upset even though the cancellation only came in yesterday after I had bought the food we were going to take.

New weekend plans - go to Manchester and buy some trousers for my interview on Thursday and some paints for DD.

WreckTangled · 17/03/2018 07:26

Check the weather unescorted, snow is coming....

Unescorted · 17/03/2018 07:33

It has started. I am so sick of this snow. Plan c coming up 😞

mammymammyIRL · 17/03/2018 07:44

No chance of snow here, other pic was last nights sky. I'm smothered with cold & dc are participating in parades today.

I'd love to use whitening toothpaste but my teeth are super sensitive & I'm tied to sensodyne. Only buy on offer too.

Wolf no tea Grin it's possible we're almost out of toilet paper Hmm must check downstairs. This doesn't happen when I do the shopping Grin

Unescorted that's ridiculous about your referral. Your dd is an amazing frugaleer Star

Sunny Shock car sharing on a walkable journey, maybe she's just passing & thought she'd collect him on her way?

Em ds just saw your photo of ds with wine glass & said 'uh oh that's very dangerous, the baby might drop it & break it' Grin

Yes that's right mammy, she's a lovely person and was just being kind. I just thought my instinctive reaction was hilarious though. I have no idea why she drives really because there's no parking. It's the oddest thing. Most people who work in town would be parking in our street and walking in.

QuiteCleanBandit · 17/03/2018 08:44

Snow !❄🐧🐧🐧
Really dont care, after the week Ive had Im tucked up in bed drinking coffee .

ememem84 · 17/03/2018 08:56

mammy 😁😀 your ds is right. Very reckless of me. In future I shall save all the wine for myself 😉 no faux sharing with ds!

Riding today. It. Is. Wet. Eugh. But if I cancel I lose £37. So off I’ll go with my waterproof.

Cagliostro · 17/03/2018 08:57

Very light snowfall here. DH is London bound all weekend (not overnight, just bad timing that two one-off things are happening on consecutive days) and I’m going to have fun with the Caglets. Today we will see if anything’s happening for St Patrick’s Day in town (usually is), go to the library, then entertaining relatives later. And I’ve ordered clubcard vouchers for a cheap lunch tomorrow after the cheap kids cinema. Woo!

Oh also we might go to Wilko (I too am obsessed with that shop ATM! Their storage boxes are SO cheap, I’m using them to start slowly packing things up) and get a giant Blox baseplate... DS and I have decided to build a Lego periodic table :o :o :o

There is always this em 🤔😂

WreckTangled · 17/03/2018 09:08

Cag I would go sooner rather than later and dh might want to book a hotel in London, maybe go to the snow thread and ask there as I wouldn't be surprised if the outbound trains are cancelled from London today

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/03/2018 09:09

You’ve taught your DD well unescorted

I feel rubbish. But I am exhausted. DP keeps getting up between 4-5am as he can’t sleep, I finally get back to sleep then DD2 wakes us again about 6am. I need more sleep! DP is going in the spare room tonight as he thinks his body clock has now adjusted to this time. I am sorry for DPs stress levels but stop waking me up as we’ll both be done in 😩

DP has taken DD1 out to her activity, and will then go food shopping.

SnugglySnerd · 17/03/2018 09:17

Hi all. I've been reading but not had time to post.

£15 in Sainsbury's yesterday on a few things we needed and a birthday present for my friend's little boy. DH has just gone out for milk.

DD2 has just learnt to hand things to me. She giggles when I say thank you. This game just went on for nearly 20 mins. She nearly knocked my teeth out twice with over enthusiastic handing of wooden shapes to me! She's very cute.

Very light snow here. I've had enough snow for this year now and I keep worrying about all the poor little frogs etc that have laid their spawn. It'll freeze poor things.

Planning lots of soup making today.

Wolfcub · 17/03/2018 09:28

Unescorted good luck with the interview and great frugalling from your dd

Taytocrisps · 17/03/2018 09:39

Happy St. Patrick's Day mammy. Sorry to hear you're ill again. I'm still not 100% and the antibiotics are making me feel queasy on and off. I volunteer with a group and we're participating in the local parade so I kind of have to take part. And it's snowing here, although only very lightly. DD is meeting her friends at the parade - they buy sweets and chips and hang around for a bit. She's currently straightening her hair, as you do Grin.

Love that bottle Cag

Unescorted · 17/03/2018 09:55

Thanks. I am going to do my prep this weekend.
A trip to Manchester has to be done - she needs tech supplies for exam work due on Friday.

LonelyOversharer · 17/03/2018 09:58

love my dp does that! "Lonely (nudge) LONELY(shove) are you awake, I can't sleep..." ugh. I let him sleep in with ds last night (ie I didn't wake him to come through), and he only has a shorty matress in there so he'll be stiff all day. Whereas I had the king size with the down duvet, bliss.

Am drinking the only cup of coffee we have enough milk for, before nipping out for more. Before too much snow falls. I'm over snow and want to garden now. I brought my £1 raspberry stick in last night, in case it froze, and it has an amazing amount of growth under the wrapping. I'm planning a fruit cage that you can walk into, I'll use the metal fencing round the half of the old boggy chicken coop we're taking down.

I was going to clean down and sort the big greenhouse today (lots of wood to move) but I won't if my hands are going to freeze.

Sorry sunny but if your dh's work is walking distance, then I'd be decidedly cold about a super fun car share. Dodgy situations generally start off innocently.

From the weather reports, it looks like the majority of snow will fall no higher than Hull (she called this the "north east" why does this bother me so much?? It takes us four hours driving south to get near Hull ffs), so take care everyone today.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/03/2018 10:25

It's bloody snowing here, this has annoyed me no end!! How can it be beautiful and sunny/warm one day and frigging snowing the next?! I don't get it.

It's dds best friends bday party today, they have been good friends since reception and even though they both changed schools and now live a little way away they have kept in touch. It's in the next local town so hoping snow doesn't spoil our plans 😝

Looked at my account and thought I was doing well until I realised the £100 holiday club money still hasn't come out - ugh.

mammymammyIRL · 17/03/2018 10:39

Girlie that's so annoying when you realise something like that.

Yesterday one of the guys I hire in sometimes gave me €50, belated Christmas tip. GrinI'm going to be sensible and put it away for mechanic who has yet to give me a bill Angry

SnugglySnerd · 17/03/2018 10:58

Need I finally around to making the sweet potato soup with orange and star anise from the HFW book. I think you suggested it ages ago. It's delish!
