£7 fish n chip tea as have been out the house between 8am-8pm today.

ChristmasSeacow · 27/02/2018 23:54

Nsd.

Happy birthday Mammy. Not that it is a great one by the sounds of it Sad. I’m sorry you are going through all this. Sounds as though you have come to a decision, we’ll all be right alongside you whatever you do Flowers.

Thinking about Audit who’s not popped in today. Hope you are okay too and DM is doing a bit better.

Hope everyone is tucked up warm. I’m enjoying my lovely knitted hot water bottle cover these days! Grin

Cagliostro · 28/02/2018 00:06

Ah I remember the photo of that cover! Which reminds me, those cardigans sent with the clothes, did you knit those too? The purple and yellow ones? Either way they are lovely! 💐

Mammy happy birthday lovely, big decisions being made, but from things you’ve posted on here lately, definitely the right one.

Em yay for swimming and splashy baby! I’m a bit sad we haven’t taken Cagletini yet but not risking it with the cough. She’s nearly better though, rearranged the jabs as she was so poorly on the day, then will go swimming when we can after that. And awwww at first food! How exciting 😍 I thought I’d be sad when Cagletini starts having food, last baby growing up etc, but actually I really love seeing her grab things and explore etc so I think when the time comes it will be quite fun watching her stuffing her face (or indeed flinging it everywhere)

Tap as cancelled today and we stayed in. Ordered Tesco, including washing powder :o do you still put that in the drum rather than the drawer?

Spends £30.70 we are going to chessington next month! I am ecstatic, it’s a massive home ed trip and a total bargain, loads of our friends are going. DD has only been once years ago and DS never has, they’ve wanted to go for ages. I can’t wait to see their faces when they find out!

ChristmasSeacow · 28/02/2018 00:19

Ha ha Cag, no, my DM did. I wasn’t sure whether you’d want them but chucked them in just in case! I didn’t knit for dd because I had those swollen sore hands all through pregnancy and for a few months afterwards, so I’ve only recently got back to it. I need to crochet a blanket for DD’s cot as she only has a very baby blanket and it’s too small for her naps now. At my current rate of productivity I may need to make it teenager-sized.

I am really enjoying dd getting to grips with food though must admit the epic clearing up after every meal is rather painful. The temptation to spoon feed her myself to reduce the mess is great indeed, but after a BLW start she won’t have it now and grabs the spoon herself anyway. Today’s delight was houmous and Yoghurt at lunch, then curry and watermelon for dinner. Both times were truly disgusting. I have to feed DS separately as he is really put off by it!

Am up waiting for dd to settle. She’s been crying so I’ve just given her calpol. Second tooth is on the brink of breaking through and she is very cross about it.

I haven’t taken dd swimming. I should, it’s my own self-consciousness stopping me.

Moanranger · 28/02/2018 00:42

Happy birthdaymammy - mine’s today. DP taking me out to dinner tonight.
Been lying doggo due to weather but modest spend on food in Asda £8,will need to top up veg soon, tho.
I had a massive mind bomb revelation today. My low mood resulting from My current restricted finances is not arising from a true lack of money, I can pay the bills & buy food, but it means I cannot indulge in retail therapy. And I am addicted to shopping. By that I mean buying stuff makes me temporarily happy ( like any addictive behaviour). Realising this blew my mind, I had never quite put two and two together. Am still mullling it all over, but I am now a little more at ease.
Re 21 jars of marmalade laska respect! Even in our household of jam-eaters it would take a couple of years to get thru that -I am impressed.

Cagliostro · 28/02/2018 00:50

Ah well please tell your mum they are fab 💕😀

I’m not especially looking forward to getting back in the swimsuit either TBH. 😳😂

I’ve not got baby to sleep yet. The 4 month growth spurt may be in full swing 🤔 or she’s still virusy.

£90 on Tesco tomorrow but about a tenner is nappies wipes and washing powder. Hopefully I have a good range of food, some easy stuff, shitloads of veg, huge chicken and a pork crackling joint thingy.

So much to do tomorrow, got the party to prep for and plans were interrupted yet again by family stuff today. They are really forcing me to get over my dislike of unannounced visits 🙄😂

Cagliostro · 28/02/2018 00:52

Aah happy birthday moan 💐

Yum marmalade. We have the 60p (ish) jar from Tesco. I used to love a duchy brand blood orange one, but haven’t seen it for years. Needless to say that was a lot more than 60p

Cagliostro · 28/02/2018 00:58

I totally get you on the retail therapy. Sadly I am like that with food too. I had gestational diabetes in the recent pregnancy and suddenly having to be really strict, and eat and test at set times, taught me a lot about my behaviour, which often wasn’t even due to the taste or cravings, but habit and need to just Buy Something.

I was awful for just buying stuff in general too, that started when we moved here and I was lonely in a new place with a baby, DH working all the time, I bought stuff for DD and it made her and me happy, and stuff became a safety net I suppose. Oddly I find it easier to buy less now that we have more money (not that we are well off by any means but we are well out of the overdrafts etc and I am more keen to keep it that way). There’s a whole lot more to frugality than just spending less isn’t there? Fascinating stuff.

And on that note I should stop waffling and go to sleep!

SnugglySnerd · 28/02/2018 05:55

Happy birthday Moan!

I'm tired and it's been a very early start. Not feeling very enthusiastic about work today. Time to start mainlining tea!

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/02/2018 06:39

Happy birthday moan 🎉

Ahhhh em about the house move. Not much else we can say right now. But vent away!

mammy we’re here for you, whatever you need xx

So, I am on my last commute to work today. -6* to make it extra special. Wearing a woolly hat to mark the occasion.

Today will be spendy
£4.70 on parking
Will need to buy cakes and chocolate probably for my member of staff
Then pub lunch (assuming anyone comes Confused as someone else is retiring but their lunch is a more select few)

A lot of us have realised our spending is emotional too moan. My classic is i’ll buy X to make my commute more bearable or I deserve it after having a rubbish day, but the spending really adds up

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/02/2018 06:41

Hope work is going ok snuggly . I cannot imagine getting twins and a pre-schooler out of the house in the morning and then doing your job Star. You must be a miracle-worker!

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/02/2018 06:44

OOoh I can see a tiny bit of snow in the New Forest ❄️

ememem84 · 28/02/2018 07:01

love I know there’s nothing we can do at the moment. House move limbo....!! Hopefully we can get things moving (either way) today/tomorrow.

cag seacow I still wore my Maternity swimsuit. And am covered in bruise from the riding. Got a few odd looks...

I figured with the baby porridge I’d just let Ds hold the spoon and see what happened. He was happy which is the main point and for once out something in his mouth which is supposed to be in there!

Probably heading into town today. I’m gojng to get some feeding spoons (we only have one) and some small plastic bowls for ds. And also want to get him one of those bumbo seats. We have a voucher for the mamas and papa’s store so will take a look there. Or in Jojo maman maybe too (vouchers also). Also want to check mamas and papa’s out for car seats. I think they sell them there too.

I had a look at some online but although they’re cheaper online than here cost of shipping means I don’t actually save any money...

Morning all, happy birthday moan Cake

Am hanging out on the school closure website, the primary has just sent a text, waiting on the secondary. The photo from last night now looks tame, we have 5" and a bit of a blowy white out going on.

em and laska looks like you're getting it tomorrow when storm Emma comes up and hits the cold air!

So, warm water for animals, I'll make the chickens some hot porridge, and I must fill a litter tray for Clive before he does a poo on the bathroom floor. And that's it today.

Take it easy if you're struggling into work, or have to travel today x

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 07:56

Happy birthday moan!

Em I did a mixture of spoon feeding and finger foods. Breakfast would be porridge but lunch was always finger foods etc. It worked well for us. It's so nice seeing them enjoy food.

Still no snow here Envy bloody freezing though.

Cag did you see on the met office map they've put Crawley near Basingstoke 😂🤔

I need to buy lunch today.

ememem84 · 28/02/2018 08:26

Guernsey and Alderney got snow yesterday. We’re meant to get it tomorrow. Eep. It’s supposed to rival the big blizzard of 2013 (which brought snow and high winds so near us there were drifts of about 6ft).

Snow causes absolute chaos here. Everything grinds to a halt and people get angry because a restaurant/shop/business is closed. Hey ho.

wreck I think that’s what we’ll do with ds. I bought baby rice and rusks yesterday. So we’ll try those at some point too.

While I’m off (and once I’ve bought plastic sheeting to cover the kitchen living room) I’m going to try him on some mushed veggies etc just to see how he goes.

2 months of leave left. This is going to fly by.

Its snowing! DS is on a bus to work , its already stopped because someone has skidded a bit.. ( we dont get much snow here)..
grass is looking a bit whitish.. Grin

Sun has just popped out though and sky clearing a bit ..
I am still on leave today .

Happy Birthday Moan

despite it seeming like i am always buying stuff . actually since ! cleared my credit card and we pain d off mortgage , i now am far more discerning on what i spend my money on and if its not in my savings pot i dont buy it .. we are fortunate that now household expenses are low, but also neither DH or I have 'upgrading habits' which is good (unlike my friends Dh who just has to have the latest everything and it drives her scatty). we are spending money on the house now (may be buying a new telly later) but we haven't decorated or bought much new stuff since we moved in 12 years ago .

em i hope you sort the moving confusion out soon

LonelyOversharer · 28/02/2018 09:22

Ok, so it is officially cold!

Dd3 is beside herself with excitement, the rest of us, not so much.

Free porridge pot on checkout smart. Only valid in sainsbos.

tinyradish · 28/02/2018 10:24

Happy birthday moan!

Snow here but not causing too much chaos atm. I'm about a 10 min drive from the office so very lucky. The car pack is pretty empty though so I guess the journey is not so easy for everyone else!

Hoping for a NSD.

Laska5772 · 28/02/2018 11:52

.. and the 'snow' has now gone.....

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 11:58

£5.05 on lunch.
