My Mayo didn't work. Balls.

I hate cooking.

Cagliostro · 20/11/2017 18:52

Ah life what's happened to set you on a downward trend my dear? I agree about SAD though, I am always messed up when the clocks change and it's a very common phenomenon. I am far from expert in what to do about it though. I do think that making sure I still get out and about does help though, I tend to become too isolated if I don't and that makes it worse for me.

£3.20 bus
£4.50 taxi (such a faff!)
£13 coop
£28 DS taekwondo grading (next week)

£13.98 on loo roll from groupon. Hope it’s good!

Life hope you’re ok. I love this time of year but I know for lots of others it’s shit. Definitely get some vitamin d into you.

SnugglySnerd · 20/11/2017 19:39

Nice to have some fellow Brummies on the thread!
Christmas public transport is pretty good and there are really useful maps all around the city centre. If I go into town I usually go on the bus or train as parking is expensive and it's fine even with the big double buggy.

NSD. Yay. I'm exhausted but need to do next week's meal planning and book an online slot. I suppose I could book it and come back to it but I think I'll get it over with. We have somehow ended up with a load of eggs so it might be frittata all week!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/11/2017 20:02

I do take vit d, magnesium, vit c and zinc throughout winter. Not getting a substantive role at work has most likely been the catalyst. Also getting out of the habit of fitness and looking after myself.
I will be fine, just a bit of self indulgence.
I have made healthy soup and booked a spinning class tomorrow. I've never done spinning so I may die.

North sorry you had tough news about ds. Happy birthday btw.

University challenge omg the brain boxes!

WreckTangled · 20/11/2017 20:04

Oh life I love spinning! Take a small towel and a big drink into the spin studio with you!

Laska5772 · 20/11/2017 20:40

life i am the same . my mojo seems to have f'd off right now. (and I've got lots to look forward to ) i think its the thought of struggling through winter in the hope that i may get made redundant on the early spring when i had previously decided I was leaving work in December. ..

Also i am so bored at work .. I simply have nothing much to do ,but they are not acknowledging it .. However i'm in a supposed 'growth area' of local government (housing) , but real ££ cuts and big (headlines but with no real money behind it) govt announcements about house building - mean that local councils are hanging on , not wanting to lose their experienced staff , but cant really let them do their jobs ( so.. depressing.. )

Anyway Yes need i have read al that stuff about Black Friday being not such a good deal , interesting stuff here.

DH and I have now set a £50 present budget for each other .. ..The adult kids will get some small things and money and the DGS a toy each.. we don't buy for anyone else ..so it feels pretty liberating .. I have a couple of things for DH already and DS has asked me to order a specialised gaming book for him .DSD just wants cash and PJs so apart from picking up a couple of toys for the DGCS I now don't need to think of christmas at all!! Grin

Cagliostro · 20/11/2017 20:45

Ah big sympathies life that must have been a real knock. I get in big phases of not looking after myself (actually TBH it's more my default setting... speaking of which I should really brush my hair Hmm) so I understand how it spirals. Enjoy the spinning I bet you'll feel great after! And nourishing food always helps I think.

I've made a frugal mince 'thing' for my lunches and dinners this week out of what was in the fridge .

I had a packet of mince left over from weekend, so have made a sofrito base (onions celery carrot) , then added mushrooms, the mince, some bits of left over bacon , tin of toms, herbs ,spices and chopped up red yellow and green peppers . Its rather nice .. Ill never be able to make it again ..

There's some broccoli left over also to eat with it .. Pretty healthy I reckon..

Laska5772 · 20/11/2017 21:17

I've just bought 'Exploding Kittens' as my main present to DH .. looks like such fun.. Anyone have it ?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 20/11/2017 21:25

Life I know how you feel, I have to literally force myself to do exercise even though I know I feel better for doing it. Likewise with eating rubbish, I am not a person who has ever been a big fruit and veg eater and have to make a concerted effort to eat well.

I think the fact that I am creeping ever closer to 40 may be the kick up the backside incentive I need to get myself sorted out.

Just back from watching dd in a dance show at her school, was really good, definitely a step up from primary shows!

NSD.

MyWhatICallNameChange · 20/11/2017 21:26

Ohoh hello, a new thread, I was lost for a moment there!

I'm very relieved as my tax credits have been sorted, so I received some money. Also got a letter about housing and council tax benefit today, saying they will pay the majority of them. As the house is shared ownership I still have to pay the mortgage, but should be able to afford it. I didn't realise how stressed I was about it till the money went in!

Went to the bank, with the form I forgot last time, and also sorted out internet banking and can now pay online for things, which means Christmas shopping can begin.

Spent £20 on lunch, £10 on train tickets and £40 on gas & electric.

Loveabaconsandwich · 20/11/2017 21:40

other stuff

northender · 20/11/2017 22:25

Thanks for all your kind words, I love the frugaleers! Seacow football is definitely not a pick me up for dh & ds at the moment.
need I'm not one for fancy cake decorating most of the time, the most important thing is the taste.
life sorry to hear you're feeling down, exercise makes such a difference, good luck with the spinning.
I'm trying to ignore Black Friday as I'm sure it's a big con.
Had a good, productive time today. I've made bolognese for tea, the rest will be converted to chilli for later in the week. I've done 2 cottage pies which just need the mash topping and a pan of soup which should be enough for dh and I for 2 lunches each.
The loft room is looking better & almost ready for guests.
Not looking forward to work tomorrow but hopefully it'll be better than last week.

HollyTheHarrier · 20/11/2017 23:17

I haven't properly caught up and need to read back but just wanted to check in briefly.

The image of Em's mil being Mrs Bennett cracked me up 😂

Mammy I live super close to cadbury world but I've still never been (realise quite how identifiable I am making myself...). Hope you enjoy your trip to Brum.

Laska I have played exploding kittens a lot. I think it's brilliant 😂

Loveabaconsandwich · 21/11/2017 00:45

Arrrgh, stupid insomnia. Trying hard not to do any online shopping

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/11/2017 06:15

Thanks lovelies. I went to bed at 8.15 and had lots of lovely sleep. I think in fighting off the DC germs too.

WreckTangled · 21/11/2017 07:30

It’s my wedding anniversary today. Three years (been together almost 11). Dh got me a lovely card and I got him nothing Grin

Need to pay £12 for dds young voices t shirt Hmm otherwise no planned spends

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/11/2017 07:38

Happy Anniversery! I remember you getting married.

Life It's the snub that's knocked you then? Well that's no surprise. Dh has worked with some really good managers over the years and seen them passed over for total bell ends who interview well. The good ones often move on to much better positions & do well regardless.

I got let go when I was agency for a flashy type. He caused patient complaints, sexually assaulted another patient, his partner left him & he got struck off the register. I bet they thought replacing me was a brilliant idea at the time Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/11/2017 07:44

I think it is fluffy. It will be fine. I still have a decent job. I will watch from the sidelines until I get a new job.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 21/11/2017 08:50

Morning all. its my birthday Grin

Had a lovely morning so far, dd bought me some lovely little gifts, smelly candles, bath bombs and chocolates - my favourite ones the round Lindt ones that are soft in the middle!!

Lots of nice cards and Birthday wishes, love birthdays Grin

Plan for today is lounge about for a bit, then meet friends for coffee and cake, lounge around a bit more and then got family descending later. Dd has another show tonight so going to make the most of the two childfree hours and go out for tea as well!!

Happy Anniversary Wreck I think I remember you getting married as well!! It wasn't long after I joined the thread.

Life glad you are feeling a bit better, I had a few days feeling really low and then realised I was actually coming down with a bug which explained a lot!!

Laska5772 · 21/11/2017 08:53

Happy Birthday girlie & happy anniversary wreck I also remember you getting married!! FlowersWineCake

Taytocrisps · 21/11/2017 09:01
