I've never tried pearl barley. I love lentils but only red really.

Ice skating today was about £20, slightly resent paying that now as DD didn't enjoy it so much because who should show up but the girl who bullied her :( she coped very well though. We are going to go with the same friends again after Xmas and hopefully more families too. I love seeing her on the ice, she shines there much more than in her regular activities tbh, but there's no permanent rink locally. £2.60 hot chocolate for me. DH bought lunch in food court

£3 in Boots, prescriptions free, 50p weight machine which I was dreading but am another 4lb down so really relieved as I've struggled to eat healthily in the post baby fog.

Just wondering if anyone else is re-gifting unwanted presents? Nice things obviously.

MissingMo · 11/12/2017 18:17

@tayto I have given unwanted presents as a donation to a raffle bit most gifts I've received I've been quite happy to keep. I don't see an issue with regifting though

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/12/2017 18:43

Tayto I am, have given two 2nd hand cookery books as gifts which were in perfect nick and this year I have also gifted some of dds old toys Blush She had a lovely jewellery box which was in vgc so am giving that to my niece and also some Tintin books for my nephew that dd didn't like!! I am poor and makes sense to recycle stuff imo.

Fluffy hope you manage to sort the cat vomit out, my boy cat likes to throw up in inconsiderate places Hmm

I am tired, work was busy and stressful and am not feeling the love for all the boring household stuff that needs doing now! I cooked a very lazy tea of boiled eggs and soldiers for dd and a bacon sandwich for me.

NSD

I tend to regift things. That said dparents dsis and dh know that if In doubt vouchers are the way forwards.

I’ve never put pearl barley in a Shepard’s pie but t sounds yum. I love lentils.

Also a fan of yellow split peas. There’s a recipe for Dutch lentil soup I love. Split peas and smoked sausage. It should be thick enough to stand a spoon it in. Mmm.

Dh is Home. He forgot the things we needed. Have cobbled together mac and cheese though.

ememem84 · 11/12/2017 19:33

I may also be winning an auction on eBay for a pair of irregular choice shoes. Black heels pinstripe with a flower made of tape measures on the toes. I love irregular choice shoes. Super cute.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/12/2017 20:15

YY to regifting, why not.

Cagliostro · 11/12/2017 20:26

There's an exhibition of irregular choice at our local museum. Lots of cool stuff!

Great idea -will do it in the slow cooker for lunch .

Got half price face stuff from Superdrug (vegan/ cruelty free) £24
Waitrose £76

Givealittlebit · 11/12/2017 21:15

Hi! I'd love to join the thread chat I'd welcome? Late 20's, married, with my first baby just turned 7 months old. Money is super tight on maternity but would like to sort out finances out in general and pay off some debts a bit speedier!

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/12/2017 21:19

Everyone's welcome Give

mammymammyIRL · 11/12/2017 22:16

Welcome give the more the merrier.
I think tomorrow will be spendy I need to buy coolant for my car & I also need to visit the doctor, it hurts now to breathe as all medicine is out of my system now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/12/2017 06:55

Welcome give.
No shipping for me today. Dd is going to be off again. I will go to matalan and sainsbury tonight when dh is home. Will have to try and get another day off work to wrap.

ememem84 · 12/12/2017 08:33

Dentist today. Going to a new practice to have a check up and talk about Invisalign. The check up will be £54 including X-rays if needed.

Then we are finishing our Christmas shopping. It may be a spendy one.

This afternoon I’m taking ds to be weighed. Dh has just weighed them both and weighed himself and he thinks ds is 14lb something. So we’ll see.

Ds has started kicking his blanket over his head at nighttime too. Sigh. May be time for a sleeping bag. And almost time for him to be out of the Moses basket and into his cot. Well have to take it in turns to sleep in the room with him as cot won’t fit in our room.

He’s learned a new trick now. I wave at him and he flails his arms and legs around. He also doesn’t like waiting in queues. Yesterday before baby group I got a coffee. There were 2 people In front of us. Ds shouted “aaaaaay!” And then grinned. He did this the other day in the post office too. The lady behind the counter told him to wait a minute. 🤣

needastrongone · 12/12/2017 08:46

Morning.

Just popping in to wish Sunny and SunnyDS the very best of luck for the tooth thing today.

I'm not up to date, life is too busy. All the rest of the family are ill so I'm on dog, chicken and pony duty, trying to marathon train and trying to work 3 days and sort Christmas. All fine, just busy.

Things should settle a bit because DH is back up and about and so are the DC.

Dropping weight too much on the new veggie diet so will have to look at that with the increase in miles.

Few bits to get sorted for Christmas but getting there slowly. I'm fairly organised now, couple of little table presents to sort and check I've got the food sorted.

needastrongone · 12/12/2017 08:50

And fuck me it was cold at 5.30 am this morning when I was stamping on the water trough to break the ice at the farm for the pony. And he was cross so moved the whole time while I put his rug on as he knew his warm breakfast was in the field. I swear to god I will kill him sometimes Grin

mammymammyIRL · 12/12/2017 09:09

need I love your posts about dpony Grin

Fekko · 12/12/2017 09:15

Just got £5 discount off an amazon order by downloading the app.

needastrongone · 12/12/2017 09:16

You can happily have the little sod mammy if you like GrinGrin

mammymammyIRL · 12/12/2017 09:46

need we had one when I was young, Dobbins, we won him in a raffle Grin

SnugglySnerd · 12/12/2017 09:56

Brrrr it's freezing here! Local schools are still closed and I can't take the pushchair anywhere. DD still enjoyingthe snow though.

Last night I started a spreadsheet for next year's budget. It's scary how much we'll be spending on childcare when I return to work. We're going to have to be extra frugal. Having the heating on constantly isn't helping but it's been minus temperatures here for about 5 days now. Tumble drier is also on a lot.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up very well with you all. It's been hectic!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/12/2017 10:14

It's a hectic time of year.
Sorry to hear family need are unwell.

Second Christmas tree up now but it's only a little one. Need dh to help me get the rest of the Decs out of the attic.

ememem84 · 12/12/2017 10:19

ID love to win a pony in a raffle!!

Dh just called. He’s at a&e. Fell off his bike on the way to work. Banged his head, cut his face. His face broke his fall. I’m at the dentist. Told him to ring once he’s done and if he needs to come home I’ll drop him off. This may put pay to my Christmas shopping...

Taytocrisps · 12/12/2017 10:27

Woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose Sad. Oh well, there's a good chance I'll be over it by Christmas, I guess.

Won't be a NSD because I've to pick up some bits for DD (toothpicks, deodorant etc) and some bits for dinner.

Cag that's a shame about the ice skating but it's unlikely you'll see the bully next time.

Welcome to our group Give. We're a friendly, supportive group of posters with lots of helpful tips.

need have you ever thought of writing a childrens' book about Dpony?

mammymammyIRL · 12/12/2017 11:07

Snuggly very good to get a handle on costs ahead of time, organisation will be huge to get out the door too in the morning, what form of childcare will ye use?

Em it was fabulous & as we're a farming family anyhow it was no hassle Grin
Your poor dh did he damage his teeth?

I'm €51.20 poorer after visiting gp €50 on gp and €1.20 on halls, got a prescription but doctor thinks it's not necessary that through using sinus rinse I've protected myself from chest infection
