We've had fantastic rain today.

Also the man from the water board says we don't have to dig to the centre of the earth to lay the water pipe after all, so that's encouraging. Just a little bit deeper, and not under the mystery sewage pipe. Phew!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/10/2017 16:13

Free bahlsen messiono biscuits on shopmium app. Only at Waitrose.

Posh Jaffa cakes.

Cagliostro · 18/10/2017 16:36

Unexpected spend of the day, pull ups and wipes! None got left with nephew Confused

Cagliostro · 18/10/2017 16:48

Oh and I forgot I also bought a power bank thing to charge my phone. I have a small one already but figured another couldn't hurt. I am also thinking I might buy a gigabag (am on giffgaff) for extra data while I'm in - really don't want to feel cut off from my group chat and a couple of particular MN threads :o

MW confirmed I will be in at least 24hrs after birth so I need to ask for a form about a private room. Fuck the cost frankly.

SnugglySnerd · 18/10/2017 17:17

I wish we'd had fantastic rain. We've just add drizzle all day. Not left the house for the first time in ages. Even DD didn't want to go out. It normally takes more than a bit of damp to stop her.

NSD though so that's good and a friend dropped round a load of baby/toddler clothes which all look brand new so that's good.

I still haven’t heard any outcome for my change of hours. But from tomorrow I get to deputise as HR adviser for maybe a couple of weeks, so my first piece of advice may be to comply with the policy on my change of hours Grin

So exciting cag about Sunday

Will be back later to catch up properly

WreckTangled · 18/10/2017 18:06

Argh I just free tickets to see Michael McIntyre’s big show! It’s on Sunday. Need to find someone to come with me, could take dh I suppose HmmGrin

Cagliostro · 18/10/2017 18:09

Well I'd kindly offer if I wasn't otherwise engaged wreck I love him 😂😂

Cagliostro · 18/10/2017 18:11

This is one of my favourites

WreckTangled · 18/10/2017 18:18

I’ve been to see him before it was so funny. I’ve already got dh tickets to see him for him birthday in December so would rather go with a friend Grin

Cagliostro · 18/10/2017 18:23

I've not seen him, pre-DC I saw Dylan Moran, and Ross Noble twice 😍😍😍

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/10/2017 18:41

Wow Cag so exciting! I loved the TENs machine as well, def worth having.

Em we have all been there, I can remember ranting at dd in a sleep deprived fog about how she was being so selfish by not going to sleep Blush she was about 4 weeks old!! We are only human and i think esp with first babies you are in a state of shock for the first few years months.

Busy day here with work, dd is really struggling with coming home and being on her own Sad not sure what to do really, my mum is going to pop over tomos and a friend has said she can go there on Friday but God knows what I will do after half term.

£30 petrol.

MeadowHay · 18/10/2017 19:12

Spends today, 90p on vegetable sticks & hummous and 90p on chocolate brownie in my work canteen to go with my lunch. Yummy.

No nausea or vomiting today Grin. Feeling much better for it, I hope it stays away...

Our DD for lecky is going up by like £25 a month but we have a smart meter and this is based on our usage over the last two months or so, I think it's probably fairly accurate despite the large increase, sigh. We haven't even put any heating on yet! Sad That's the problem with lecky only flats, so expensive with no gas.

I love Michael Macintyre too, I'd love to go and see him.

WreckTangled · 18/10/2017 19:14

We’re all electric too meadow so I feel your pain

ememem84 · 18/10/2017 19:31

I’d love to see MM wreck he cane here a couple of years ago. Seemingly everyone went. Except dh and I. We couldn’t get tickets. Waaaaaa.

cag OMG Ross Nobel. I almost peed my pants when we saw him. So funny. I’m also a fan of bill Bailey, and Tim minchin. Although the last stand up we saw was Milton Jones (I think that’s his name). I didn’t think he’d be funny but again. Almost peed. We bought tickets for Reginald hunter once. Not funny at all. He made a whole series of rape jokes. Then moaned that because were a small island we didn’t “get” his humour. Errr. No one laughed because it wasn’t funny.

meadow hooray for no sicky feeling!!

Nsd here. Dh came home from work I handed ds over and sorted dinner. I’m now in bed. Dh is taking over baby watch.

girlie yes! Shock. That’s exactly it. You think you’re prepared because you’ve had 9 months to get used to the idea then BAM! Baby. And it doesn’t come with instructions. And no one tells you that growth spurts happen at xyz time (until after the event) or what “wind” is like.

I’ve read some things online (rightly or wrongly) and google suggested that ds wasn’t settling because I put the big light on when I fed and changed him. Low lighting only tonight then and we’ll see if it makes a difference. Willing to give anything a try once said the actress to the bishop

SnugglySnerd · 18/10/2017 19:36

Em red light is best if you can get hold on one? Do you have B&Q there? If so we got an LED lamp that you change the colour on jut by touching it. It is fab dim lighting for night time and there is a setting where it just keeps changing colour which ds will love watching when he's a bit bigger. It wasn't expensive either.

I'd love to see Ross Noble. He's so brilliantly random!

Very tired after ds' antics last night. Hope we have a better night. You too Em.

OP posts:
ememem84 · 18/10/2017 19:49

We do have b&q. I may go look tomorrow. What I’ve done previously though is put the torch on my phone and used that. Enough light to see but not enough to properly wake up.

I’ve also got the magic sheep thing out of his box. Something the dream sheep. He’s quite soothing ds is still in living room with dh me catface and sheepyface are having a lovely time relaxing

LonelyOversharer · 18/10/2017 19:54

Okay...so I went to Aldi with no list, and filled a trolley! And spent, £99 in Aldi! Never done that before. House comfortably packed with biscuits food, and I got super brushed cotton "snooty reindeer" bedding! Will attach photo. £40 got me superking duvet set, single duvet set, king and single fitted sheets! Got matchy matchy sets for ds and our bed. (Excuse unmade bed slattern but can't disturb the cat)

£27 in tesco on one bag of bits, mostly expensive catfood.

Keep trying things em until you either hit on something that works, or ds grows out of whatever it is! I think this is how parenting works. It is such a shock, and we can all go "blah blah this is how it's done" but the actual experience when it's you and your baby is quite different.

Do you think dd will be okay and adjust as time goes on girlie ? I think coming home to a little dog might help a lot. Flowers it's an extra worry for you.

I've never been to see a comedian, or to a concert. I'm such a square.

LonelyOversharer · 18/10/2017 20:01

Eat well for less starting, fussy eaters tonight apoarently, I certainly have one of those.

Laska5772 · 18/10/2017 20:02

lonely its ok.. I've never ven heard of Michael Macintyre !!

Am feeling really tired this evening so am just going to bed with book and tea. its all caught up with me. ( I don't know why or what exactly).

Yesterday I spent £45 on flowers for mums bday. today £20 on haircut and £49 in Tkmaxx on a jumper that I ordered from JL website a week ago and have been umming and ahhing about keeping but today saw it for £20 cheaper in tkmaxx. (a sort of frugal win I suppose...) .

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/10/2017 20:09

Me neither Lonely. People no desire to go either. I'd rather be on the sofa drinking & listening to dhs rants at the pointlessness of modern tv reality stars.

£22 oil. There was no oil in my car at all.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2017 20:13

Nsd today. Saw dd at school assembly.
Did a Morrison's top up yesterday but forget how much.

Em perfectly normal.
Cag. I had induction with dd but mine was unusual at the off. It made it very fast though. All good too.

Hi everyone else.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2017 20:19

Ross Nobel is local to here so seen him a few times. He does warm up gigs sometimes at a small theatre near here to test his tour material. V funny. He's done a motorbike charity thing before which dh went in. Nice guy.

I love that bedding. Off to aldi I go

LonelyOversharer · 18/10/2017 21:14

The ewfl family this week were brilliant. Usually they are a bit try hard, and I watch it like Hmm really but this mum was great. Her twins were lovely fiesty lads, a good one to watch.

The new bedding looks very cute on ds' bed, he's going to be so cosy.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/10/2017 21:29

I love that bedding too! No chance to get an Aldi without DS though as it's half term and I don't think it will be his scene somehow.

Em almost peed may well become peed from now on if you don't do your pelvic floor exercises WinkGrin

I think low light will defo help. For the bathroom (for nappy changes) I bought one of those clip on book lights. I can clip it to the basket of spare nappies and point it as necessary. It's so helpful to have directional low light, it doesn't illuminate the room generally but great on the bum in question.

I want to buy tickets for a comedy gig for DH for Christmas (to go in spring maybe). Not sure what's around, must get googling.
