Glad the cinnamon buns turned out well Christmas, DD has been trying to master them for some time.

Another gorgeous baby Wreck Grin

Happy birthday em Thanks Cake

Should be NSD today but I do need to enquire in the pharmacy re flu vaccine.

Cagliostro · 02/10/2017 08:06

Thanks! Bed isn't arriving for over 2 weeks (need to sort out bedroom a bit more first) so I have a little while to look around :)

Didn't pay extra for them to take the old mattress away as we will be getting a skip anyway. Literally just got a divan plus pocket sprung mattress, we will maybe get a headboard for it at some point once we've moved and decorated our room (low priority - Caglets' rooms come first)

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/10/2017 08:08

Happy birthday em.

Birthday stuff here too for ds

WreckTangled · 02/10/2017 08:16

Thanks everyone. He's still pretty cute now (when he's being good!)

I've got the lurgy 😷

SnugglySnerd · 02/10/2017 08:44

Morning all!

Yes Asda bedding is nice. I find their baby clothes very soft too.

Been up since 4.40. DS is very grumpy. It's going to be a long day.

Cagliostro · 02/10/2017 08:58

I might pop into Asda tonight then. It's just along the road from the hospital. It's the clinic that always runs over massively so unlikely to make it to taekwondo today. This may just be the Monday routine now as I've got a feeling they might want to see me every week (at 34 weeks I am now in the 'danger zone' where insulin resistance tends to get worse... so even though my sugars are fine at the moment they may not be soon, even if I keep to the same diet).

DH reckons he saw a big fridge freezer in the charity shop so he's going to pop in before work. Can't hold out much longer (having to throw loads away again this week Angry) so if we can get a cheaper used one now that'd be brilliant.

Need to order hoodies as well. I have one that fits really well (always preferred baggy so it fits over bump) but one sleeve has a massive hole and the picture has all but worn off completely Blush I'm such a scuzzball Blush not sure where to order from though, it was a Redbubble one but that'll take a while as it's US based. But I know the fit works for me. Hmmm.

SnugglySnerd · 02/10/2017 09:50

Aw Cag I sympathise. I had to have weekly scans and consultant appointments for about the last 10 weeks. Antenatal clinics always seem to be running late and really the last thing you want to be doing is sitting on an uncomfortable chair in a boiling hot waiting room. Hope the appointment goes well.

Why does the weather forecast say "a dry but cloudy morning" when what it means is that as soon as I've pegged out all the washing it will pour with rain?

Laska5772 · 02/10/2017 10:12

Happy Birthday Em

ememem84 · 02/10/2017 11:14

Thanks guys! I’ve been thoroughly spoiled. Dh gave me a ridiculous amount of vouchers for my fave shops so I can treat myself to new clothes etc. He also bought “save with jamie” (think he’s after some tasty frugal dinners!!) and a couple of naice things from Dior and ysl (naice eyeliner pencil - Dior) and my fave plum coloured mascara and a touche eclat pen (ysl). #spoiled

He also made me dippy eggs for breakfast. 😀😀😀😀😊😊😊😊

Ds got me a nice card and a bracelet. He’s so clever going out and buying things on his own as such a young age...

CollieBobs · 02/10/2017 11:30

Happy birthday Em

NSD here Smile

Taytocrisps · 02/10/2017 11:30

Happy Birthday em. Sounds like DH is a keeper and DS is very thoughtful too Smile.

Should be a LSD but I've to take out money to pay for a few things such as the milkman, costumes for DD's show and my childminder.

It was a very wild night here but at least the rain has eased off although it's still quite windy. There's a lady who cycles past my house every day. She always wears a black coat and black woolly hat, irrespective of the season and weather. She reminds me of Dorothy's mean neighbour/the wicked witch from The Wizard of Oz.

I'm loving all the Autumn colours at the moment. I spotted the most fabulous tree around the corner from Dad's house on Friday/Saturday. All of the leaves were a bright gold colour and it was dazzling in the Autumn sunshine.

Ah toxic friend just sent me a message. Along the lines of “hope I don’t mind that I didn’t get the invite for Saturday, but she thought I wouldn’t want to go out after baby (true I wouldn’t), no hard feelings and that she had my best intentions at heart...” she also told me not to worry if I didn’t lose all the baby weight straight away she went from an 8 to an 18 when pregnant and still hasn’t quite got back there - her dd is 9 now. She offered diet and exercise tips.

I’ve just sent her a picture of me in my skinnies and just said that she was right I wouldn’t have wanted to go out on Saturday but it would have been nice to have the option. —half tempted to suggest she actually follow her own diet exercise tips but I’m not mean mean. Just passive aggressive mean— —I’m bad. So bad. But I’ll blame the hormones—

Cagliostro · 02/10/2017 12:33

Ha! Karma :) nice one em

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/10/2017 13:19

Happy Birthday Em you have been spoilt! Your 'friend' sounds awful Shock

Have been swimming this morning, this is boot camp week Wink was nice cost £4.20, met a friend for coffee afterwards which was her treat.

Now looking after my 3yo niece who is recovering from chicken pox bless her, she is very sweet and easy to look after as happy to just potter about.

Need to sort a new phone later so going to pop to Tesco...

northender · 02/10/2017 13:33

Happy birthday Em, love how clever and generous your ds is and how dh was very extravagant but balanced it with a frugal Jamie cookbook!
Fluffy I had my flu jab on Wednesday & it has been okay, good luck with yours. However much I know the facts about the flu jab, I still spend a couple of days waiting for side effects Grin
Spent the weekend (2 nights) in Edinburgh with dd, my mum & aunty. Had a fabulous time. Cost including all travel, accommodation, food & entrance to the Britannia yacht, was £160 each which I think was fantastic value. We had an apartment in Leith with sea views from all rooms which was great and cheaper than a hotel. We did 20k steps on Saturday and 15k yesterday so not quite need's levels but not bad.
Have been to a work meeting this morning (usually my day off) and will take the time back next week. So far I've done the ironing and put some more washing on. I updated our finance spreadsheet for October and it's not looking as good as I'd hoped so some serious frugaleering is needed!

WreckTangled · 02/10/2017 14:20

Ds has swimming later so won't be a nsd. £24. Plus I might whizz through macdonalds...

SunnyLikeThursday · 02/10/2017 14:26

I've got my flu jab booked for Thursday. Mine knocked me right over for a week last year, so I'm trying to clear all my commitments for a week before I do it this year. Crossing my fingers it's better this time though.

I spent this morning practising for my first aid course with my nice listening lady. I'm still petrified though. I wrote and asked if there was a get-out clause for people with baby-related PTSD, and if I could just sit a one hour test instead of having a 6 hour jolly chat about it all. Eeeep

SnugglySnerd · 02/10/2017 14:53

Happy birthday Em!

I've started a pre-Christmas clear out. Already have a massive bag for the charity shop and have created enough space to put all the baby toys away so they are no longer strewn all over the floor. Well they are but they won't be once the dcs are all in bed!

WreckTangled · 02/10/2017 15:35

Eugh snuggly I need to do that. Our sideboard is full of kids magazines and cheap craft bits which they never use! I'll have to do it when they're not about though.

I really must sort my flu jab. Have never had a reaction in 18 years of having it despite that fact that I have a completely overactive immune system

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/10/2017 15:36

What is it that freaks you out about the course Sunny?

Dd has her flu spray on Friday, hoping work roll out ours soon.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/10/2017 15:37

I put Moana on for my niece who has now wandered off and I am sat here still watching it Blush Grin I love this film!!

ememem84 · 02/10/2017 15:39

Ds has his first trip to the pub. We went outout not just out! Haha! Lovely lunch £20 for 4 tapas dishes a glass of wine and a beer. Bargain. Ds was super chilled - I was terrified he’d cry/want feeding (petrified at breastfeeding in public...) and we had a nice walk near the sea. Came home to more parcels, cards etc.

Letter from the maternity leave allowance people. All approved and they’ll pay into my account every Friday for the next 18 weeks. After which apparently I’m entitled to something else...must look into that. Card and £5 boots voucher from my doctors - and a letter telling me when my 6 week appointment is. So that’s good. I’d made a reminder to book it but don’t have to now!

ememem84 · 02/10/2017 15:41

girlie I loved moana!!! I thought it was Disney at its best. Great story, songs are ace - my faves are shiny and you’re welcome- and it’s just super pretty. And based on a true -ish myth/legend.

WreckTangled · 02/10/2017 15:55

I love moana too!!

Em it's hard to bf in public in the early days it's easier once your supply has settled and they can latch without any assistance/you having to watch. I remember trying to feed ds in macdonalds and my milk squirted everywhere. There was a man looking most shocked 😂

Right. Cancelled sky which I forgot we even had Blush it had been free but went up to £5 back in June. Dinner is sausage, mash, cabbage and leeks and gravy. Should do some other veg but ds doesn't like carrots or peas and I don't like sweet corn...

ememem84 · 02/10/2017 16:04

UPDATE - I may not “have” to breastfeed in public. The pump has landed. Woohoo! Probably the best piece of post received today (aside from the cutest clothes from bil and sil in nz) and birthday cards and gifts for me! Haha!

Dh just suggestedbi give it a spin. But dparents are popping in for birthday tea and cake I hope they’re bringing the cake as we have none I don’t think they’d appreciate seeing me “milk” myself.
