What was the film Girlie?

I am a little annoyed -MIL just rang me (my mobile, not the house) to say that DH's great aunt is concerned that she hasn't heard from us since sending a present for DD (ie a ticking off for not sending a thank you letter). Grrr!

I am annoyed on many levels:

  1. with myself because I should have sorted my shit out and sent them by now (But tonight, as most nights, we still haven't eaten dinner by this time. As soon as we have I crash out before the night feeds start... and then the cycle begins again!)
  1. With DH because I asked him to drop a line to his elderly relatives to thank them, because they are not on email etc and don't know how things have been with DD's gastric issues (and furthermore don't understand DS's SN and impact on us). So they have no idea we are not ignoring them, just chasing our tails atm
  1. With MIL for phoning me and not her son.

Rant over. Photo cards were ordered yesterday as it happens so we can sort that this weekend.

She also asked if I'd got on top of the gardening yet. Hmm

Rant over. Anyway, DD is not on good form, she's very vomitty today and still screaming now, so neither of us has eaten dinner yet. It'll be 10.30 before we're both fed 😬

ememem84 · 09/10/2017 22:03

Woah!! @meadow!!! Congratulations!!!! Amazing!! Xx

I’m so happy ds had a bottle from me. This will make things easier.

I’m in bed. Have been for the past 30 minutes. Have told dh under nonuncertain terms is he to bring ds in to me until at least 1015/1030.

I need some alone time even if it is just an hour or so. Ds is asleep in his basket in the living room with dh. I have new bedding on the bed. It’s the best. Old bedding but fresh bedding. Dm ironed it the other day when she was here. She needed something to do...she ironed it but put a dryer sheet under a teatiwel and so the bedding smells like dryer sheet. Mmmmmm.

I just told catface about her cat “cousin”. She looked sad. And have told her how much we love her and want her to stay healthy. She’s on bed with me for the moment.

Should hopefully be nsd tomorrow.

LonelyOversharer · 09/10/2017 22:05

Congratulations meadow thats such good news! Seriously take it easy on yourself.

seacow ffs. Cross for you. There is a reason my mil does not have my mobile number, and she's great. It would have taken seconds for her to reassure her eldery relatives for you. I never get round to thankyou cards. Your poor little dd. I so hope this screamy vomitty thing passes soon for all of you x

I took dd1 to a DofE meeting tonight, it's expensive, but she's keen. Anything that pulls her out of her bedroom works for me! All the other kids there looked so grown up, I think I just see my dd as a little girl still (she's almost 15). The mums also looked so well turned out in their smart clothes and neat makeup. I felt like a scruffy bumpkin next to them, and I was probably older than most of them!

HollyTheHarrier · 09/10/2017 22:15

Congratulations meadow that is such awesome news 😊

lonely I think DofE is a great institution, hope your dd will get as much out of it as I did

WreckTangled · 09/10/2017 22:51

Wow meadow!! How exciting!! Congratulations

Seacow make dh sort it out

Girlie you're right they were shit parents but I really enjoyed the film

AdoraBell · 09/10/2017 23:06

Grin Meadow congrats

Sea definitely get DH to sort it, and btw my PIL don’t have my mobile number, or email address.

Lonely hope DD does do the DofE.

ChristmasSeacow · 10/10/2017 02:15

DH will certainly write the cards for his rellies.

MIL has my number as a result of me giving her my old iPhone and setting her up on whatsapp so that she could receive pics and little videos of her DGC (our DC and also BILs). After extensive tutoring she still can't use whatsapp but now has my phone number.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Btw I do love MIL, she is a decent sort. I just get very irritated being held responsible for the whole family.

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/10/2017 04:47

I've got a bit behind from not getting a chance to read for a couple of days.

I've had a good few days though, because my invention thing that I have been working on with a grant from the University is now working, and ready to be taken to the exhibition in a couple of weeks. Yay!

Congratulations Meadow!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/10/2017 06:19

Well done sunny
That's the story of thing my mil would do.

Shattered. Dd up in the night with this bloody cough.

ememem84 · 10/10/2017 07:25

Mil does this too. Expects me to sort “the family” out. I pointed out to her after her big birthday a couple of years ago which dh forgot to send something for and I got blamed that she “didn’t consider me part of the family” so it was dh’s job to sort out.

He missed her birthday this year too. Mostly because oh you know...new baby...which is obviously my fault. Selfish me not holding baby in until he’s sorted a present and a card...

Anyhoo.

Well done sunny

Been awake since 6 with ds. Curtains open in bedroom so we could see the day. Dh has just got up. He’s making tea and porridge.

Ds and I need to go to the shop today for milk. And bread. Dh will do a shop later but we need milk if we’re going to have tea today!!!

WreckTangled · 10/10/2017 07:32

Eugh I'm tired. I can't cope going to bed past 9pm Grin

Aiming for a nsd.

Yesterday I spent £9 something on popcorn and a drink wine HmmShock

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 07:39

And we're nearly at the end of another full thread - what fun, frolics and frugaleering are we going to get up to on the next thread? Can we make this a three thread month?

girlie your question is it time to LTB definitely has got me thinking

Spends yesterday
€130 to au pair - I mostly don't post this because it's a regular planned expense
€11.65 at chemist €2 to be reimbursed at work this morning
€19.90 at butchers 10 chicken fillets and 1lb steak mince(it was more than a 1lb), not frugal he does a deal for €20 I could have got 12 chicken fillets 1lb steak mince and one other item Sad I just thought going in well I'll just get what I need today.

~€5 on a soup and a bar of dr coys chocolate for yesterday's dinner, I'm not feeling 100% and just fancied soup for dinner, the choc was the appetiser Smile

Today I'll be paying balance on my trip to Belfast €160 [gulp] plus my roommates which I'll be reimbursed for later in the week.

Must pay balance on trip to Birmingham by 2nd Nov
and I paid balance on hen party at end of month last week.

Have decided to extend my christmas holidays until dc return to school in Jan. This will cost me approx 3 days holidays but save massive amount of headache and give us two weeks off together. I do have a wedding to attend (aforementioned hen) one of the days but my dm will mind for that.

Sorry not caught up with all of you guys, I read yer posts last night!

sunny delighted to hear your invention is sorted but were you up until 5am doing it?

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 07:44

Glad not to have a mil when I read some of these posts - but I've got a DSD to rival any MIL Grin

We usually visit santa with dsd family and dss family. Last year she ruined the day for the rest of us. This year she attempted to plan another day out together and then when we didn't act fast enough went off and booked their visit at a place that is totally out of the way for dss Hmm this gave us free rein to book our visit with dss without any guilt and we're making a weekend out of it Grin Because she booked hers first she's in no position to be put out over our plans. Bam and double bam Grin Hope she's not following this thread GrinHmm

Cagliostro · 10/10/2017 08:01

Gosh, families eh? Who'd have them 😱 Mine is small and very low maintenance thankfully. A phone call on birthdays is seen as plenty among the grown ups, and DH deals with his side (bigger - I'm an only child myself).

DH off today, he's got sports club and I have the doctors (to mostly discuss ADs Confused) but apart from that and DD's tap class later - just realised I need to order her uniform t-shirt too - we should be able to get a fair amount done. Yesterday we worked out how many days off he has before baby arrives and the number was so small - even if they let her stay in full term - that I cried :o so we need to make the most of it. I was wondering about maybe getting him to take a day or two of leave beforehand but TBH he doesn't have that much left and it's probably better to leave it until baby arrives and we might need it more.

Congratulations sunny how exciting!

Meadow hope you're feeling ok, have you worked out how far along you are?

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 08:21

cag I'm lucky my own family are low maintenance too. It's only dsd really that's hard work on dh's side.

Glad to hear you're going to dr, it's all a bit overwhelming for you atm and I'm sure once you're back on a more even keel you'll find your happy place again. I suppose parents whose children go to school get some headspace and you don't due to HE, it's intense being with people all the time even if they are your own children Flowers

I'm going to be an auntie next March/April for the first time, just found out on Sat night, I'm super excited Grin And it's like ds knew he asked last night when are we going to see my uncle and aunt again, I'd like to see them Smile

needastrongone · 10/10/2017 08:37

fluffy PCP. I need to get all the facts completely together and organised. I'm not stupid, they don't give a shit, so it will be marginal gains.

Em Good for you for having a bit of 'me' time. No requirement to be attached 24/7 to DS. Just that hour in the bedroom will help you 'breathe' iyswim?

Mammy I meant to say that having used Fairy now for a week, I'm not going back GrinGrin.

Meadow Wonderful news, so fantastic. Take care. You will be brill.

Sunny That's fantastic news, well done. I actually read you post when you posted, sleepless night here too. Smile

Not good Life, hope your DD is okay. What did you get her for her birthday btw?

Mammy I got to that stage with DH. I actually stopped caring. I ended up telling him that if he didn't seek help, I was going and taking the DC. I know it's a bit different as DH is diagnosed bi-polar but his refusal to take meds was killing our family. Things changed almost immediately, but I had a lot of residual anger to work through for what he put us through, not the MH issue, the 'tablets is weakness' mentality for years. So much time wasted. All good now. Take care my lovely. xx

Need a few bits from Aldi today but off to work now.

needastrongone · 10/10/2017 08:38

Lonely DS has just done his Gold. D of E is such a fantastic experience. Good for your DD.

Cagliostro · 10/10/2017 08:59

Thanks mammy Thanks it's a weird one, as although I don't get much child free time I generally have more 'me' time than before (plus I have a supportive circle of home ed mum friends which helps untold). Partly as they are older and more independent but also because they are calmer - it was horrendous when they were at school because they just kept everything in all day and unleashed every bit of it on me as soon as they left the playground. I don't miss those days :( it is hard for all of us though TBF due to their autism, it's quite intense I'll definitely agree with that! 😱😱

Seriously need to get out of bed now 😂

Will have to be careful today as had my first high post dinner sugar reading in ages last night 😨

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 08:59

need dh has told me for years he couldn't take medication because of an activity he was involved in, which he quit a few months ago in a temper tantrum but he's selling it as he did it to be with me and the dc more.. BS... so now there's no justification for not medicating, and I haven't brought up this fact yet.

Will see how the magnum fairs out in our house Grin eyes up the fairy offers Grin

ememem84 · 10/10/2017 09:01

need absolutely. It also gives dh much needed time with ds on his own.

I feel refreshed from having that little break last night. Said to dh I haven’t actually had any time to myself since the 22 sept - the last Friday before ds was born. I had the whole day on my own then. That’s a long time!

Health visitor came yesterday. Ds is now 3.8kg (Or 8lb6...) little dude has been bulking up!

Today’s “chores”:

bundle up some of my maternity clothes and pop on Facebook to sell.
List spare pushchair seat on Facebook
Sort through ds’ clothes - He’s growing fast and his newborn stuff soon won’t fit. Must make sure he gets the wear out of it while he can.

Dh made scrambled eggs and bacon burritos for breakfast. I thought he was doing porridge but there wasn’t enough milk.

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 09:23

cag that makes sense too. It's wonderful to have a supportive circle of friends. I don't have many of those. Have some semi acquaintances now which may develop into full friendships or may not.

I've got one friend who I'm unsure about, we converse via email with another friend, but she lives relatively close by, we never meet unless I make the effort and I'm wondering is it time to just call time on the friendship. But it's awkward because the other friend will be caught in the middle.

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 09:27

Sounds like a lovely breakfast em I have never thought of having scrambled egg in a burrito - do you toast the wrap or just wrap it around the scrambled egg and bacon?

mammymammyIRL · 10/10/2017 09:28

After spending €9.65 on nurofen cold & flu yesterday evening - I don't feel the need to use it today - hopefully I'm improving out of this illness/virus

SnugglySnerd · 10/10/2017 10:04
