Wreck no advice on curtains, loved your comment about early risers. I'm currently up with ds while everyone else sleeps on. Dd just called down the stairs for us to keep the noise down, she's 7 GrinHmm

Cag that sounds like a wonderful day out for you, just you & bump & good food.

I've taken note of what ye've said about only buying what you need, I've not bought clothes since Christmas but I do need running crop trousers so am currently shopping online for them, I'm running more & one pair that I like & one pair that fit but I don't like aren't cutting it anymore, I've got about 5 pairs but some don't fit or don't fit right.

Need look forward to hearing about your progress with running coach

Sunny & Em feel better soon Smile

I'm on my holidays, we've no definite plans. I get to run when I want as dh is being supportive these days Smile

LonelyOversharer · 13/08/2017 10:00

That game sounds fun em we don't do games as dp isn't 'wordy' he can read a tech manual for stuff, is an engineer and can fix anything, but is clearly undiagnosed dyslexic. We've talked about it and he decided he's too old now to go through diagnosis, so I leave it. I mourn games, and wait for the dc to be bigger.

wreck if you get a cotton specific dye they will be fine. They might come out a bit paler than expected as synthetic fibre doesn't take up dye, but you might get a nice marly effect. If they're totally wrong, you'll lose nothing having a go, they'll still be wrong if it goes wrong...but they might come out really well!

Sorry for anyone feeling poorly today, late pregnancy amplifies everything. Take it easy today! Sunny weather here, so I'm going to weed the 'patio' block paving resembling jungle atm and move some bricks from the front to the back. So exciting!

In other news my very flash new phone is bloody brilliant. Dp and I had a proper conversation about it. He knew he'd 'got it wrong' and we are at peace!

LonelyOversharer · 13/08/2017 10:02

More coffee required! cag and em on the games! You'd be lost in a board game drought here cag !!

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/08/2017 10:14

Wreck if you do the dye then only the cotton will take up the colour, so for example if the curtains are white and you dye them navy blue, then 48% of the fibres will take up the colour and you will get sky blue curtains. So it will work, but it just won't be the colour that the box says. It sounds rather exciting, tbh.

Is anybody else a bit dumbfounded by the white supremacist stuff in the america? I read about the KKK in Shelock Holmes books as a teenager, but I really thought that they were more or less the stuff of fiction, or at least history. I don't get how that can possibly still be a thing.

ememem84 · 13/08/2017 10:49

I can still hear the saxophone! And dh heard it too! So glad I hadn't dreamt it. ive also drunk about a litre and a half of water and haven't needed to per yet. So obviously I was maybe a smidge dehydrated. Oopsy.

Still in bed. Catching up with the news etc. Will get up before 12.

WreckTangled · 13/08/2017 11:37

Need we've just been at cowdray. There's lots of polo and pony club championships going on. Is this the sort of thing you do?

Also it's so hot I might have to put some shorts on!

chaosisaladder · 13/08/2017 11:59

Every day starts out as a NSD but somehow I always end up spending something! This week has been spendy because DH has had awful tonsillitis so it has been prescription after prescription and all the other little bits and bobs he's wanted to make it bearable (aka - chocolate milk Hmm)

Looking forward to starting afresh this coming week!

SnugglySnerd · 13/08/2017 12:28

Hope Sunny and Em feel better soon. Also Mammy's foot. Ouch! (My phone changed that to Mammy's footman!)

Having a rubbish day here with unsynchronised babies. It's just impossible when they don't nap/feed more or less together. Makes it hard to do anything else or play with DD1.

Going to shove them all in the car and go somewhere in a bit in the hope they fall asleep and get back on track. It's warmer than I expected. Need cooler clothes.

mammymammyIRL · 13/08/2017 12:30

Chaos when sick it's different but I always class extra groceries as a need or a want. Yesterday I spent €8.74 in local centra €1.59 was milk need remainder on drinks & a pack of haribo for outdoor movie want

Distinguishing between need & want helps with nsd I think

Movie was amazing, superbly well organised free popcorn & sweets for kids, we had brought our own but they did accept bag of jellies each. €5 donation for us of facility but this was up to yourself.

mammymammyIRL · 13/08/2017 12:31

Thanks snuggly it's only sore to take on or off shoes now really

ememem84 · 13/08/2017 15:29

Result. Dh just called. He's back on dry land and is bringing home 7 mackerels, 2 bass, a bream and a wrass.

Fish curry at some point this week then...

CremeEggThief · 13/08/2017 17:10

NSD.

needastrongone · 13/08/2017 17:16

Cards Against Humanity, I now wish we had brought DS's with us, so funny but so Shock too. Grin

wrecked, it's about that time for PC champs, the ones in our area are next week so I reckon you stumbled on similar. DD finished PC last year, and does a faster, more competitive version of her discipline. Some of the top ponies are £30k plus.... ours was a grand but he keeps up the little sod. He's just quirky. It's niche, but fab too.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the running goes. It's via email and phone and online. I've a food diary to fill out when we get back and a four week training plan already, the food will be making me lean with protein I suspect. Tons of varied paced runs and distances, plus I've a strength training plan to put in place too. I'll either become the runner or dream of, or not. But you only get one shot in life, so I'll give it a go!

Ouch to the foot mammy, I agree, differentiating between want and need is key. MSE mentions this a lot.

Oh yum to all that fish em, freshly caught is amazing.

14 Euro spent today in total, we went to a small town and wandered around, had gelato. Eating in tonight.

The view from our villa is incredible and so clear today.

Wow need Smile

Nsd. Roast chicken for dinner which will be chicken casserole tomorrow.

SnugglySnerd · 13/08/2017 17:28

Owing to some slight disorganisation and cooking too much food I'm about to have leftover veggie lasagne with potatoes, beans and carrots!
Had a ropey day. Managed to get out for a short walk at a local country park but it wasn't really suitable for the pushchair or my sandals.

needastrongone · 13/08/2017 17:33

fluffy. I've a Gellish/Shellac questions if you don't mind? Nothing stays on these days. I've got Gellish on at the minute, it's peeling already after a week. Never at the top, always friends the sides and bottom. I moved salons thinking it was the application, but it doesn't seem to matter. I've had the salon owner do it, who properly, fully knows her stuff, makes no difference. I know they follow all the correct procedure. They have applied a thicker top coat thing, no difference. They want to help, they are not shirking things. Just wondered if you had any ideas? Gellish is supposed to last longer than Shellac! I'm going to have a break anyway, save a bit of money and give my nails a rest.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/08/2017 17:47

Either your hands too far forward/too far back in the lamp & the ends aren't curing or the buffings damaging the nail & it's now too thin to hold colour coats. Do they use a different lamp for gellish & shellac?.

While your away chlorine & sunscreen or insect repellant will damage it really quickly.

Are you applying a nail oil 2 X a day? Every time you wash hands the nails rapidly absorb water & expand, when they dry and shrink back to normal it pulls the nail away from the colour coat. It's enough to cause lifting, the oil fills up the nail so water can't penetrate & the colour coat is preserved. Hand cream oil molecules don't penetrate so don't offer much protection. Hand creams with lanolin or liquid petrolatum can also cause service breakdown, Nivea has caused problems for some clients but that's anecdotal evidence, Also hand creams with uv protection.

IBX is salon only nail strengthener cured by uv that repairs damage in one treatment.

Dadi lotion & cnd almond spa are both colour coat friendly.

ScarletPower · 13/08/2017 18:01

Hi all - back again. I periodically appear and then disappear but I think I'm back for good now. I'm starting a new job soon which I have taken a pay-grade drop for (£121 a month) but I can start working from home 3-5 days per week which will save money in other ways (no more spending money in lunch breaks or shop bought lunches) but I really want the opportunity to do the working from home.

I've been hammering overtime for the last couple of months in order to build up some emergency cash and will be for the foreseeable future. I should also be able to pay off my catalogue which will save me £31 a month, and I have chosen a new dog food which saves £7 a month - so I'm £38 down on my £121 so far :-)

ememem84 · 13/08/2017 18:06

Chicken kievs made. Spicy rice made. Waiting for people to turn up now. Chicken is going to explode everywhere but it'll be tasty. So that's a plus.

ememem84 · 13/08/2017 18:06

And dh is home now. The mackerels look beautiful. Super glossy and shiny.

needastrongone · 13/08/2017 18:23

Right, next time I'll look at where my hands are. I'm wondering if the constant colouring and subsequent buffering has damaged my nails and I need a break. Yeah, sunscreen, fair point. I forgot to pack the oil, but only use it at night anyway. They use separate products for all stages of the colour for both products but I'm not sure about the lamp, as it's all set up when I go in, ready for the treatment and I didn't look if they are different being honest. Thanks fluffy, that's really useful advice.

needastrongone · 13/08/2017 18:24
  • buffing, damn IPad.
Cagliostro · 13/08/2017 18:27

Well a friend and I won CAH with equal score. So we now have the honour of officially being the filthiest. Hmm :o

Was a great day anyway, lots of chat and giggles, and plenty of yummy snacky food left too!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/08/2017 18:55

It's always over buffing or scraping the nail to remove colour, the actual colour is totally inert. Cleaning products damage it too, especially cillit bang.

You can google the lamps to see what it should look like. It's poor teching to use the same lamp for both systems, the lamps the most important part.
