cag awesome!!! That must be so cool! I've never been in/on a book.

(My picture was in the local paper once - when I got my law quals. All newly qualifieds are "paraded" round the local firms and pictures are taken by the local paper of us - not quite the same...)

need great news re pony for dd. Sorry to hear about your friend.

life good luck tomorrow x

meadow hope everything went well yesterday. X

I've just had a bit of a cry. Came home and was happy putting my feet in the cold bath. Doorbell rang and the noisy neighbour was there. Very confrontational and intimidating.

I've reported her to her agent, her landlord and our building manager. Not happy, feeling a bit vulnerable (which is very unlike me).

Dh is a bit proud though I didn't lose my cool. He was here but was in the toilet for most of it so just caught the tail end. I Just asked her to leave. Told her that yes I had complained. But that her rent (which is extortionate) and her kids not having a garden is not my problem. I had to ask her to leave more than once.

Dh has made dinnner - pasta with stir fried veggies in a spicy tomato sauce. And we've had cake.

SnugglySnerd · 22/08/2017 19:44

That's amazing about the book, Cag!

Sorry to hear about the your friend, Need. Good news on the pony front though.

So not an NSD after all. It got really warm and sunny so we went for a walk and got ice creams. Also I remembered I need to get my niece and birthday present so will look online in a bit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/08/2017 19:47

Life I'm sorry you have to go through that tomorrow, it's galling that their doing this to you.

Cag Maybe it will spark some more interest in your editing. Do you get a copy?.

Em Well I think we've found the level with your neighbour. You'd think high Jersey prices would keep the riff-raff out.

Need Will dpony meet loan pony?.

Cagliostro · 22/08/2017 20:09

Thanks folks I'm well chuffed :o yep get to keep the copy. If's a dual language book for kids. I need to phone the author of the children's novel I typed/edited a couple of years ago - she's been working on the sequel. Ideally I'd like to make a start on what she's written.

Em that really sucks! :( She sounds horrible

life hope you storm it tomorrow. I think its bloody awful you still have to interview for the job you are currently doing. I'm hoping it's a box ticking exercise?

need so sorry about your friend. I love nuun effervescent tablets. Their strawberty-lemonade and the red berry ones are ace. I even like the chemically grape one!

The courgetti was great. 3 minute steam. I added philly and double cream to the bolognaise sauce, it was so nice. Never done that before, but everything is improved with philly, right?

Well done em that would have freaked me out. Stupid woman. Wtf has the amount of rent she pays got to do with being curteous to her neighbours? She should have rented a house with a garden then.

Cagliostro · 22/08/2017 20:25

Philly definitely makes everything better! It's one of the few brands I won't downgrade. Gotta be Philly (none of this Light version either).

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2017 20:47

Thanks all. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Good news on pony need.
Em, well done you.
And cag too.
Looking at august 2018 holidays now.

LonelyOversharer · 22/08/2017 20:54

cag bought light for years, then accidentally bought full fat. Will never go light again. Has to be branded. I buy on offer and always have 4 or 5 tubs in the fridge! And that's wonderful about the book, so nice you got credit for your hard work.

ememem84 · 22/08/2017 21:14

fluffy were not meant to say things like that but yes quite. Incidentally £1700 a month for a two bed roof level apartment no garden is ridiculous. That's more than our mortgage and we have a bigger place (still a 2 bed but roomier).

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/08/2017 21:15

Hi all, back to work for me today Sad hit the ground running as usual!!

NSD though so thats good.

Good luck life

Sorry to hear that need about your friends df.

ememem84 · 22/08/2017 21:24

cag ooooh Philly is awesome. Absolutely full fat. I don't buy into the light this or light that (except for Diet Coke or Pepsi). I'd rather have the full fat stuff and eat less of it an ex colleague of mine used to buy weight watchers cake and biscuits. Because then she could eat more. Sort of defeating the point really...

Watching JO now. I really like him. I know some people think he's a bit of a prat but I'm a fan. Would love to meet him.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/08/2017 21:31

I find coop 'philly' pretty good, it's the only one I'll substitute with.

Good luck tomorrow Life

Good news about the pony Need. And that you might keep DPony. But sorry to hear about your friend's DF.

DH only came to the two main scans with me too. Appointments were near home, nowhere near work for either of us, so he'd have had to take a half day each time. And they were pretty dull so no point really. He didn't even come to the consultant appointments with me. I didn't mind at all.

DD has been on her new medication for about 5 days now. I can't really tell whether it's working or not TBH - we've had the worst week ever but then she's had jabs too. I think she seems to have less pain when feeding over the last 2 days so maybe it is helping... she still won't be put down though. I hold her for all but 20 screaming minutes of the day until DH comes home. We are still taking it in turns to eat dinner. Most of the contents of the flooded garage are in the house so it is a tip. I can only look at it, I can't do anything about it... so frustrating. The cleaner is coming tomorrow and the house is embarrassing Blush

Anyway, the plumber says the water in the garage is coming from an overflow in the hot water tank (apparently it is designed to flood the garage when a valve goes so that we notice it- wish I'd known that before I stored photos in there!). He's getting a spare part, no idea of cost yet.

I have been a bit fed up and falling into old bad habits of online shopping - clothes for the kids mostly so sort of needed but I have to stop! Someone tell me off!

needastrongone · 22/08/2017 21:35

fluffy, they've already met. Dpony was far too try hard and needy for a first date and she was not impressed, see below. Ha, look at her face, she's actually a good natured, handsome pony.

Thanks, no it's not the DF of my friend that had cancer, I'm seeing her next week, she's doing great. This is expected. Sad, but a life well lived so as it should be really.

Bootcamp was fun, tough but fun.

Good to hear the Nuun tablets are good lonely, never tried them so good to hear a recommendation.

The Friendly Frugaleers, watching the pennies as we wait for sunshine!
needastrongone · 22/08/2017 21:38

That was really brave and assured em re the neighbour, fair play to you.

ememem84 · 22/08/2017 22:20

i mentioned to the agent that I felt threatened and used the words "in my condition"

I was very very calm. In my head I knew that if I kicked off I'd be the one who looked bad. Technically (legally) she's trespassed. Although she lives directly above us she doesn't and can't access her flat from our side of the building. There's no reason for her to be on this side this evening other than to reach our flat. So it was intentional.

I've been nothing but reasonable. She even brought her kids with her this evening. i was shaking when she finally left hence the cake earlier but remained calm. Kicking off wouldn't have been the right thing to do.

I wanted to eat everything JO made.

Taytocrisps · 22/08/2017 22:22

life I was all set to wish you good luck tomorrow. I didn't realize you had to go for interview for your own job. That's rotten Sad. But I still hope it goes well.

em sorry to hear about the encounter with your neighbour.

Cag you're famous! Kind of.

I watched the third episode of Poldark tonight. Lots of topless shots. DH has sussed that my interest may not be purely historical Blush.

NSD. My Tesco delivery arrived today. I forgot DD is back to school on Monday and never ordered any lunch stuff. Not to worry, we'll pick up some stuff over the weekend.

It rained today. A lot!

Loveabaconsandwich · 23/08/2017 06:20

Good luck life

Well done cag on being the famous book editor

Hope meadow is doing ok in the new job

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2017 07:10

Good Luck Life Star

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2017 07:32

Thanks y'all. I'm quite philosophical about it. I won't be out of a job of I don't pass but I might/will loose my higher grade. I will rebudget accordingly. It's annoying as I've been doing it for 18 months now.

WreckTangled · 23/08/2017 08:11

Sending positive vibes life ⭐️

Em what a dick I hope they get given their notice.

We're going to a park today with some friends so shouldn't be too spendy. I suppose I should get out of bed.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/08/2017 09:02

Congratulations Cag, that's brilliant. Can you edit in two languages then? That's fantastic.

Sorry to hear about the neighbour Em. That sounds really tricky. Glad you've reported it again. Sounds as though they'd be better off elsewhere, for them and for you.

100yearsdotcom · 23/08/2017 09:14

Sending positive thoughts your way life x

Your neighbours sound like dicks em, well done for staying calm x

That's totally awesome cag! Didn't know you did that type of work! Hope your glucose test comes back clear x

Been having quite a few NSD but then have days like yesterday when I realise I need to spend a chunk of money on essential baby stuff... ah well, hoping to get some money back from selling some bits although I'm not sure where to sell yet - does anyone have any tips or recommendations? I'm not keen on ebay as I think the fees don't make it worth it having used their calculator.

Cagliostro · 23/08/2017 09:37

Thanks all, sunny nope wouldn't have a hope in hell of editing in another language! Basically they used a Chinese translator to translate the original, and then used me to edit the resulting English as often the word order or emphasis didn't make sense etc. Quite tricky really as it was always possible that a tiny change in English would make the translation wrong, so lots of back and forth but it was good fun and not much work for a bit of cash really. :)

God I hate waiting around

ememem84 · 23/08/2017 11:22

It's annoying re the tenants. But in a way it's not just me whos suffered. So that's a good thing iykwim. 8 apartments have complained. And I know that at least two others have been confronted. So that's some comfort at least.

Our building manager has sent an email to the agent again today. And I've had an email and a phone call from the landlord re yesterday. She was very apologetic (it's not her fault really) - the agent should never have housed them in the apartment. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon. I've made it clear that all I wanted was for the noise to stop. Not necessarily for them to be evicted.

100 have you tried Facebook selling pages? I'm usually a fan of eBay but only for clothes - also where we are it makes no sense for us to sell "stuff" on eBay the postage would outweigh any benefit.

Saying that- eBay are good at doing deals re 100 listings free or whatnot. Maybe look out for one of them.
