Em I always thought late abortions are people who don't realise they're pregnant. Not everybody notices/recognises baby's movements and some women still have bleeds and things. I think people with significant learning difficulties are particularly vulnerable to not knowing they are pregnant. My mam used to be mates with a lady with learning difficulties who didn't know she was pregnant the first time until she was giving birth! I don't know the specifics of why/how etc but I've heard other stories like that too from women with learning disabilities in particular. I think it's more those cases where they end up having late abortions rather than people just changing their mind later or whatever.

Bacon Ooh, that's interesting.

Laska Copper PM'd me so I will post her them, but I only have a few I'm afraid anyway so not too exciting!

Sent my CV to 2 recruitment agencies advertising 2 different paralegal jobs. And also started an an application for faculty admin post at my brother's uni.

Copper That's really cool about your friend going on to work for the CPS. I haven't ruled that out but I think I'd find solely criminal prosecution work too difficult.

Spendy-ish here as we had lunch in a local café. DH paid for everything though.

Frugal news: posted receipts & form for reimbursements of some stuff from my disabled students allowances so that should be a bit of money coming to me in a few weeks (takes them ages to process stuff).

ememem84 · 08/06/2017 19:52

meadow i hadn't thought of that. Good point. I do know someone who found out at 8 months.

That must have been one hell of a suprise.

I have a friend who found out that she was pregnant at 5 months. She was a fit type who had been working with a personal trainer and had just really perfected her one arm press-ups. She said she had rather irregular periods so it wasn't until they'd been gone for 5 months that she started to wonder.

I found the contrast to my own experience so interesting as I was POA twice a day for months just for sheer fun of it when TTC. No risk of missing anything.

AdoraBell · 08/06/2017 20:45

Thanks for new thread em, have just posted on previous. Today's spend £72 for Pilates.

Tomorrow need to buy some spices, and eggs.

Loveabaconsandwich · 08/06/2017 20:46

I fell off the no-McDonald's wagon today for lunch followed by a Chinese takeaway for dinner. No wonder the stitching on my dress started coming apart today Blush About £22 in total.

Yesterday my colleague got on his soapbox about everyone's duty to vote. No one disagreed but he laboured his point for twenty minutes I may have spent my journey home from work winding him up with ludicrous reasons for why I wasn't going to vote

£1.29 on party invitations

SunnyLikeThursday · 08/06/2017 20:50

That's hilarious Love. It reminds me of the referendum when on whether Scotland should have its own devolved parliament (years ago now). A friend of mine phoned up an ardent Scottish Nationalist and told him that she was going to vote No to having a parliament, but Yes to it having tax-raising powers, and he nearly exploded.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/06/2017 21:40

Just manage to lose my post Hmm annoying!

Spent £75 in Morrisons Shock but have completely stocked up the freezer to bursting and the cupboards which had all been really run down, £9 off that may have been on some plants for the front garden... not planning on going near a supermarket again this month!!

I feel really uncomfortable about late abortions, I get the reasons for them but personally think the cut off should be 20 weeks. I do understand that if you only found out you were pregnant at 20 weeks this could be problematic though!! I know someone who found out quite late 16 weeks and then her son was born at 28 weeks Shock very short pregnancy!!

LonelyOversharer · 08/06/2017 22:05

Absolutely delicious tea... lamb mince, onions, tomato and garlic puree, tin of butter beans, pearl barley, bit of pumpkin puree (found in freezer), lamb stock. Slow cooker, then a spoon of mint sauce stirred in before thickening up a bit, served with pitta bread. Was heavenly! I was very hungry though.

All freezer/cupboard stuff, was going to be a takeaway, but gave myself a wee shake!

Nsd, £6 in sainsburys after voting, but my purse is awol, so had to tap dp! won't panic about my purse until I've checked the other car and the shop tomorrow

Cagliostro · 08/06/2017 22:19

Gosh I'd not really thought about the whole viability thing. Both my other pregnancies I pretty much relaxed as soon as I had the 12 week scan. This time round I'm not relaxed at all. I am obviously happier now I've seen the baby (3 times!) and heard the heartbeat, but I'm totally stressing out and convinced constantly that something will go wrong. I think I have felt baby wriggling quite a few times, but I can't actually let myself believe it properly and I keep telling myself I'm imagining it! I'm hoping that once I've had the 20 week scan I will feel better again, and after that I'll be having regular growth scans and consultant/midwife appointments where we'll get the heartbeat. So won't be so long between reassurances IYSWIM.

Mind you I am not sure it's sunk in anyway. Earlier I was talking with friends about booking a free event in November that we did last year. Later on it hit me - oh hang on, I'll have a baby by then! :o Blush My friends will probably take the Caglets anyway so all good.

Cagliostro · 08/06/2017 22:38

Several hours ahead of watching the results come in. Goodness me. Was really pleased to see a massive turnout locally though, the polling station was the busiest I've ever seen it in 9 years of living here.

I read on another thread that it is 104 years today since suffragette Emily Wilding Davison died. Seems rather apt.

allthebestplease · 08/06/2017 22:45

Thanks for thread.
£4 on ice cream and strawberries 🍓

Coppersulphate · 08/06/2017 23:24

ChristmasSeacow · 08/06/2017 23:24

I really need to go to sleep but think I'm going to be up a while!

Went for my hospital appointment today (consultant, to plan induction etc) but they had changed it to next week. Apparently I'd got a letter Hmm. £2.50 for parking, grrr.

Too tired to think what else to say!

ChristmasSeacow · 08/06/2017 23:26

mammymammyIRL · 08/06/2017 23:57

Wow that's amazing copper

Tomo I'm buying lunch at deli counter with my friend from work, it's only us two girls at work, she's the bestest!we do this about once a month.

My friend from home is visiting a big town 45 mins from me at the weekend with her 3 dc & we are meeting up, we contemplated meeting out but have decided on lunch at mine & playground/beach. 5 dc from 8-2.5 wouldn't make for a chatty lunch.
Win win as will keep costs super low.

Laska what a long day

WreckTangled · 09/06/2017 05:56

Hi all. Thanks for new thread. I'm place marking. Bit of an eventful week. Am in hospital with DS. Don't worry he's much better but we had a couple of scary days.
