Old dishwasher is out, new "old" dishwasher is in. But not sure if it is working Sad It spent over an hour trying to do a quick wash and never finished. Now whacked in some salt and put it on a normal wash and hoping it works! Glad the old one is out though.

Tomorrow's job is a trip to the dump with either one or two dishwashers. We also probably have another car full of rubbish to take. Our garage is full. We both hate going to the dump!

Beeneatingburnttoast · 18/03/2017 16:28

On the plus side removing a dishwasher from storage in the garage definitely counts towards decluttering!

allthebestplease · 18/03/2017 16:58

£1.50 on newspaper. £11 on special deodorant and £4 on a fire blanket.

mammymammyIRL · 18/03/2017 17:05

Welcome iamdivirgent do you want to return to work after dc goes to school, do you have a career or a job? Only answer questions if you wish only you & your dh can make the final decision.

I've just spent €128.41 on groceries €5 cashback as cashier wouldn't accept two cards on shopping transaction she didn't 'think' she could but wasn't willing to try. I know they can they've done it before Angry there's €5.48 left in grocery category too.

I gave a lady a Euro for her trolley when I returned trolley I realised she had put €2 in Blush

Personal spends €10.10 on newspaper, deodorant & 30 Ginseng capsules, these were reduced by a Euro in dunnes might buy a few months supply next week.

mammymammyIRL · 18/03/2017 17:06

Ha ha best two deodorant purchases posted at same time we're a clean bunch Smile

Cagliostro · 18/03/2017 17:28

How funny! At least we don't smell 😊

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/03/2017 17:30

Busy day here, dd had riding this morning (already paid for) and a party this afternoon. Home now and not moving off the sofa for a bit!! NSD today and ystd was a LSD as I put 50p in a charity collection!!

Enjoy the reunion Em that 2 weeks seems to have gone really fast!

I have no clue when it comes to cars ipsos I find car buying so stressful, my mum has a ford focus and its been very reliable so far...

Love the fish Need and good luck with your race tomorrow.

Ipsomatic · 18/03/2017 17:33

I've had a busy but good day. I've been test driving this Focus and I've been to the Volksvagen garage once and the Ford garage twice.

We like the Ford Focus except that it is very bumpy on the road, but the garage man says that may because it has larger wheels fitted. He's going to find one with normal wheels for me to test drive.

I had a brainbox moment for dealing with the bright lights behind the speedometer. I got a bit of polaroid film that I used for work and put it over the dial and that cuts the brightness right down (in addition to the brightness controls) and that was enough to solve the problem. Woohoo!

So we're just waiting for a test drive of the car with smaller wheels and if that works then we'll buy one. So relieved that it's going well. This has been an epic three year puzzle to get round the LED light problem. Yay!

If all goes well it will be an automatic Ford Focus Titanium with 16" wheels in probably blue; nearly new if possible.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/03/2017 17:40

Sounds good ipso
Welcome divergent
Good luck tomorrow need. Nice fishies.

£9.50 Chinese, £8 co-op.

CremeEggThief · 18/03/2017 17:56

Good luck tomorrow, Need.Star

ememem84 · 18/03/2017 17:57

I'm so happy he's home!! I had a cry while waiting at the airport. 😭😀

His washings been done and I've made a lasagne.

He bought me a new necklace. Some chocolate, some pineapple lumps (wreck if you haven't had these already make sure you get some - they're ace!) a sheepskin (he was thinking for the baby) and two vintage style all blacks shirts. One for me. And one in a kids up to age 10. For baby. To grow into.

Needastrongone · 18/03/2017 18:16

Glad he's home Em.

Thank you for the good lucks lovely frugaleers. It's not a target race, more a marker in the sand and the forecast is pretty windy but I shall give it my best.

Making enchiladas. I've saved the tray bake for tomorrow when we have family over. Plus going to make a Guiness and chocolate cake.

Good news on the car Ipso and managing all the trailing around while you have cold. Probably best to physically see a car too and test drive. Good that you have overcome the LED issue.

Army cadets sounds good Creme. Discipline etc. Never a bad thing for teenagers!

Welcome Divergent. Child care costs are so prohibitive aren't they? How would you feel being at home full time?

WreckTangled · 18/03/2017 18:18

Em have had them. Will be getting more and perky nanas mmmm

WreckTangled · 18/03/2017 18:19

People are being horrible to dd because she can't run well and wears ankle braces. 💔 trying to get actual names from her isn't easy though.

MeadowHay · 18/03/2017 18:24

Wreck That's awful, your poor DD Sad.

Ipsos Good luck with car buying.

DH and I just got home, we had dinner out so not very frugal, he payed for all our spends today though I just paid for about a fiver of stuff in The Works which we took for the refugee kids. We trialled out our new more structured play sessions with the kids and it went fairly well for the first time they had to sit and do as they were told instead of run about all over lol. We had a nice time but both of us are shattered now and it looks like DH is coming down with my illness now that I'm recovering, eek.

Cagliostro · 18/03/2017 18:30

Oh no wreck poor DD. I just don't understand how people can be so mean 😡

Best of luck for tomorrow need :)

I'm afraid I'm rubbish at sleeping in the day. Occasionally I will doze off but if I decide to have a lie down I can never sleep regardless of how tired I am. Anyway, I've perked up now and ordered a takeaway (£16).

Welcome Divergent!

Pleased he's home, Em it sounds like he's chosen some lovely gifts too!

iamdivergent · 18/03/2017 18:43

I think I'd be happy to stay home for a few years, probably go back to work once we get his funded nursery sessions at 3. It's just a job, I'd love to do something different but I'm not sure what

Tryingtosaveup · 18/03/2017 19:15

Welcome Divergent, hope you enjoy our chat and our attempts to be frugal. We are all different and have different goals but we are very supportive.
Glad he's home Em, enjoy the reunion.
Have a good race Need.
CAG...have you sorted that cc and put it on 0%. And the funded bank account??? 😧😧

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 18/03/2017 19:18

Hi divergent if you're not in your dream job, and it doesn't pay £££, maybe a break and a retrain? Theres no shame in 'just' being a mum.

em yay! Once first scan is done (12 wks?), buy a new born size vest, for scale! I still nearly ok I do weep if I come across a tiny bit of clothing. They really do grow fast

Went to morrisons, spent £46 so will get £5 voucher next visit. 61 liters of diesel (shop paid) was another 610 points (61p). Went downhill from there. £30 in b&q, just £8 for me (guttering to grow strawberries in), then I spent £35 in tescos (how?) on easter eggs (3 for £10) and a few bits. Got 3 of the lovely orla kiely bags as they have finally been reduced, one for me, and 2 as swim bags for biggest dd's.

My baking marathon is underway. Tray of choc cake, 2 trays of carrot cake, 2 lemon cakes done, and a batch of bread on first prove. Dp has sensibly gone to get us a Chinese. First of the year.

Cagliostro · 18/03/2017 19:22

Thanks trying :o :o 💐💐 I have the laptop ready to go so we can sort it out after bath time!!! Been itching to do it all day as DH is off but he's been busy taking the Caglets to the woods and doing housework (we've done the kitchen inventory though so that's something). I wish it was the kind of thing I was able to do on my own, but the forms and stuff baffle me and I get really stressed (I may have had a cry earlier about being so pathetic). Anyway I am determined we will get it done this evening.
