Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/03/2017 21:10

Is this border nice? Am trying to decide!

garden border

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/03/2017 21:13

Am hoping it is just that Need she does have form for being a bit opinionated at times though Wink God knows where she gets that from Blush

I do think she struggles a bit in a busy, classroom environment but even so needs to learn when to shut up i think!!

Cagliostro · 27/03/2017 21:34

Snuggly yep your twiglet/marmite opinion is weird too I guess. Put the two together and we make one normal marmite fan :o

It's B vitamins isn't it? So they're practically a health food. 😇

All with my two and some pupils I've started with a number line made up like a thermometer, to get used to going across zero etc (so giving them lots of calculations and they have to point/draw the jumps along the line).

There's also a thing I haven't got round to trying myself yet but I saw it on a maths teaching documentary once, where they used mounds of earth. A flat piece of soil represents zero and each little mound represents 1 - and if you need to go below zero you dig out a bit. So if you wanted to do 3 - 8 you'd start with 3 mounds and then start taking them away, but you'd have to dig 5 holes after. I've got plasticine to try this with at some point.

With multiplying a number line was also useful because they could see, when we started with two positive numbers, that when you multiply two integers you always move away from zero. So it was easy to see that when they did say -4 x 2 that you still move further from zero but since you started on the negative side you move down instead of up.

We talked about how a minus sign makes it 'flip' over the zero. One very tactile pupil would actually pick up my hand and move say from 3 to -3 and say "flip!" each time we encountered a negative sign (very cute). So if we had -4 x -2 we would flip twice as once for each -, and it was easier to see why it went back to positive.

Can I just put this Marmite lark to bed once and for all.....it's YUK, really serious YUK ( as my DGCs would say). Food of the Devil.

Need....brilliant on the tax inspection. Even though you know you are doing it all right it's still scary until it finishes so great news.
Em, good luck with the house, hope you get the result you want.
Cag, early scan sounds good. Are you hoping to find out if it's a boy or girl ?

Wreck, if I don't manage to get on here in the next few days, I hope you feel better and enjoy your holiday in NZ.
Meadow that GP sounds horrible, ask them to change it.
Cag, I followed your maths lesson up til the last point. Please explain in more detail how to do -4x-2 on a number line with the flip thing. I always think along the lines of one minus cancels the other out but your system looks better and my DGD uses number lines.
Seacow, hope DS settles in ok

Coppersulphate · 27/03/2017 22:57

Girlie, that border looks good. What is it made of?

SunnyLikeThursday · 28/03/2017 03:38

Hello!

I've been away for a bit because I'm still rushing about organising a dentist visit for ds. I've got an appointment but it's quite far away so was looking for a B&B too. Now working out what food we need to take to deal with special diets away from home and everything. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

If I disappear entirely at some point until the weekend then it's just because we are away doing that. I hope all your ventures go well while we're away. Smile

Last early morning for work! Won't miss the 5:15 alarm. Will miss my lovely early morning nurse Sad I didn't sleep well last night. Ds woke me up with growing pains and by the time I got him back to sleep I was wide awake.

Aiming for a nsd. Going to meet with the childminder after school today to sort out all the paperwork etc and so dd can find out where her loo is, apparently this is very important for a six year old Grin

Cagliostro · 28/03/2017 06:56

Copper I'll come back later re the maths thing as I'm not quite awake yet!
Re the baby (feels so weird writing that!) I guess we don't need to decide for a while, with both Caglets we did find out and DH did mention finding out again but I'm leaning towards not! I said to DH what about leaving it for a surprise and he said well we've already had one of those 😂😳 anyway the only reason I may change my mind is if it's better for the Caglets

Today is going to be LONG I just woke up at my friend's house, they're leaving in half an hour ish and then I have aaaaaaall day watching my two plus their two. DH is joining us later as he's not working today but he's got sports club first.

Hey everyone,
Been catching up on the past few pages and feel the need to add in that Marmite really is amazing, always have a jar on hand for toast, stock, adding to everything. But in true Frugaleer fashion do you lovers of it always use the real thing or buy the supermarket own brands? I've tried a couple but none have been the same so far.

Yesterday was a lsd (is that the acronym?) as I bought the paper for £1.80 in an effort to make sure I read papers outside of the usual one I read online before this interview tomorrow. Today I'll need to buy some tights for it as well but hoping to spend nothing else

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/03/2017 11:13

Good luck cag. I always find days looking after other people's children goes so slow, especially the hour before their parents are due back. At least you have someone who can look after the caglets in return when babycag is born

I used up a bottle of perfume today. I don't think I have ever done that before Blush . Been ebaying when I've been gifted too much perfume as you can only have so many bottles on the go. I've got some Armani perfume to use next but think it has gone off as it really smells of alcohol when you spray. DP says it smells fine so may persevere and be frugal and use it up

£45 Tesco
£110 when I pay my Road tax later

Strawberry have you changed name?

ememem84 · 28/03/2017 12:56

Dh came to visit me at work before to drop off some shopping and a sandwich he'd been to boots and spoken to the clarins ladies. Who had manipulated him into buying me a fuckton lot of products to prevent/reduce stretch marks and also some body scrub and some sunscreen.

Forget all I said about him on previous threads. The mans a hero. he also bought me crisps

Strawberrythief87 · 28/03/2017 12:57

sunny Nope I'm a newbie, joined on Friday

SnugglySnerd · 28/03/2017 13:00

Another sleepless night. DD1 at home today so unlikely to get a snooze either.
Formula feeding is stressing me out, it's much more complicated than bfeeding was last time around. The babies seem really hungry in the night but I'm worried about feeding them too much and causing them to be obese or something. I'm probably overthinking it in my sleep-deprived haze.

Anyway, today should be NSD unless I order some new leggings as mine have gone in holes.

SunnyLikeThursday · 28/03/2017 13:16

Ah! Welcome strawberry Smile

That's interesting to know snuggly I didn't give ds formula and I always slightly wondered if it would have helped. He's never got on with things with added vitamins, so I suspect not. Interesting to hear what it's like though.
