Cathode I am vegetarian so makes it slightly harder! Will take multivitamin that has iron in it and cook brocolli tonight as that is iron rich. To be honest by the evening I was feeling a lot better which was good. But now I've woke up with a banging headache. I have headaches pretty much every day of my period plus the odd migraine and cramps, feeling run down etc and this isn't even a real period because it's just a withdrawal bleed from my new contraception. But it's the first one so hopefully next time things will have settled down. Confused

em Your cat sounds so lovely and mischievous!

Wreck Love your fluffy cat!

You guys will need to keep me company over the weekend because I've a lonely one ahead of me as DH is at work 8-8 both days and my anxiety and the poor weather means I'll probs be stuck in the flat.

Spends so far: about £70 on shopping from Asda that will come on Monday evening. More expensive than I was planning Confused. I feel like we spend a lot on food but then some of it is for the DGuineaPigs which is hard to quantify as we share the fruit and veg with them. And we do buy supermarket own brand/basics where possible and I tailor my shopping to make good use of what's on offer etc. DH is big and works a labour-intensive job though so he needs to eat a lot!

Other good frugal news: just found DH's bank statement which he hadn't opened (lol) and he is now out of his overdraft! I came out of mine early Jan as well so we are both in credit for the first time since about May. Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2017 11:38

Blackstrap molasses is meant to be a good source of iron for vegetarians. You could put it in a smoothie. Well done getting out of your overdraft.

Happy Birthday Creme, Yorks always beautiful.

Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 11:54

Happy birthday Creme! Cake

Meadow make sure you have vitamin C as well - it aids absorption of iron apparently. And caffeine inhibits it.

Snuggly I liked Apple Tree Yard, although it was quite uncomfortable viewing (though for me not so bad as this series of Unforgotten). I adore Emily Watson as well, she is brilliant. And Mark Bonnar but for very different reasons. Thanks for the tip about No Offence I'll check that out.

Happy Birthday Creme! CakeBrew

Good luck on the eating then Meadow. I'm almost a carnivore so possibly we balance each other out. I read online recently that research has shown that all PMT type symptoms are helped by iron even in non-anaemic people so it's probably worth working at it. If you can take supplements then is should be easy. I don't tolerate them well.

Brightermornings · 11/02/2017 12:32

Happy weekend everyone. I slept till 11am Blushso still in pjs.
I need to food shop today that should be it.
I've got some items on eBay ending tomorrow so I'm hopeful they will raise a bit of cash as they were free!! I do a postal survey for Royal Mail. They pay me in Stamps I get 12 1st class and 4 large stamps every month I participate. I also get the special edition ones every so often aswell. I've put the special edition ones on eBay as I'm not going to use them and there seems to be a bit of interest and they've all got bids.
Well done on your job wreck.

Happy birthday creme!

So cold here.... so very cold

mammymammyIRL · 11/02/2017 13:40

Happy birthday creme

I thought I'd have missed more posts in half a day! Only one more wash to put on & we're up to date after a week without the washing machine. It cost €100 to fix.

I'm off to town now to do shopping. Going to primark, possibly get car washed & Aldi.

CathodeRayTube · 11/02/2017 13:49

That must be a relief to have the washing machine back working Mammy. Phew!

We meant to be all active and outside with it being the holidays today, but in fact dh and ds are still in pjs and I failed to get out of the bath until noon. Hey ho.

mammymammyIRL · 11/02/2017 13:55

Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day cath

Ipsomatic · 11/02/2017 14:46

I've just sorted myself out a new name, morphing from previously being CRT.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/02/2017 14:49

Happy birthday crème and snuggly was it?
Nsd today

northender · 11/02/2017 15:51

Congratulations to snuggly on getting the car sorted, wreck on getting the job and MissA on qualifying. Great news all.
Happy birthday Seacow for yesterday and Creme for today. Have a lovely day in York & enjoy the meal.

We had a great journey down to Devon last night which makes a change. Went shopping this morning for some much needed clothes so spendy but budgeted for. Couldn't resist a couple of pieces of fabric for my latest quilt project too.

Brought the Nutri Ninja with us so I could make breakfast smoothies so spent £7 on ingredients but had cash back vouchers so no cash spend.

SnugglySnerd · 11/02/2017 16:34

No not my birthday!
Is anyone else having trouble seeing photos? It is probably my old and temperamental phone but I can't see them!

Ipsomatic · 11/02/2017 16:50

It's eerily quiet on MN. I wonder where everybody's gone?

WreckTangled · 11/02/2017 16:51

I'm here. I've been tidying the dc's bedroom. Need to cook dinner but really cba.

Brightermornings · 11/02/2017 16:55

I've just got back although i only went out to food shop. Back on the sofa now 😀😀

Ipsomatic · 11/02/2017 16:57

Oooo! Hello! Smile We're doing nothing at all today. Totally vegging all day. It's been pretty good. I'm watching the birds on the birdfeeder out of the window.

Sounds like you are having a relaxing day too if you cba to cook. Is there any chance you would tell us more about your new job? I'm really interested to hear about it, but will you have to wait until you start to find out more?

Brightermornings · 11/02/2017 17:06

I've had a really lazy day. Apart from 2 loads of washing one so I have clean bedding tonight and washing up I've done nothing but watch tv. I know I'll regret it tomorrow.

Needastrongone · 11/02/2017 17:09

Happy birthday Creme I hope you are enjoying your day.

Ipso (I will end up calling you Ipsos you know...), just thanking you again for the additional links. So useful and very grateful.

I've been busy, so not kept up very well today.

Marshalled at the Park Run today, so out in the freezing cold very early. Lovely to see so many turn up on a freezing cold Saturday at 9am to run 5k. All organised by volunteers. Great event.

Tidied up for friends coming over later, they are paying for pizza as we paid last time.

Run 5 miles.

Spends
£5 in the cafe afterwards.

Needastrongone · 11/02/2017 17:12

6 wash loads and made up 2 beds, in case Bil stays over later.

ememem84 · 11/02/2017 17:17

Went riding today. It hailed Sad so so cold ❄️🌨☃️💦💧⛄️

Popped into see dm and she made me lunch yay!

Then came home to find dh hadn't yet showered and was frigging about with a pressure cooker and some brisket. No chores had been done but the house smells amazing! So beefy! Looking forward to dinner!!

Since I've been back I've done two loads of washing, have made the beds and have out all clean washing away. Have steam mopped the kitchen floor and have had a malteser bunny.

Busy afternoon.

One more load to go in the machine but I'll set it to be finished by 930 tomorrow morning.

Planning on getting up fairly early and having eggs for breakfast. Then getting he rest of the chores done before 12.

Ipsomatic · 11/02/2017 17:18

Jeepers you're all very busy. I just had a nap. Zzzzz

Glad to hear the eating is going well Em.

Cagliostro · 11/02/2017 17:25

Not busy here Ipso just milling around, it's horribly cold. We've played a couple of card games. Washing is on. Oh and actually I did sort a few BRCs (BRC = Bag/Box of Random Crap) so that's something.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 11/02/2017 17:45

Boring day here. So very cold, heavy rain and sleet. Quiet at the shop, we shut at 4. Still in the battle bus, coming into the village on the way home we encountered one of the grumpy inhabitants, and when we stopped at the house she came and swore at us for splashing her (we didn't). She was really very angry, and has vowed to knock dp off his bike Confused That put a dampner on my day. There is literally 30 houses in the village, and nothing else except a phone and post box - makes me sad as she is one of those who thinks they own the village, but a thoroughly nasty piece of work.

Spent £14 in the coop on reduced chicken (most gone in the freezer), and a few quid in the butchers on some pasties.

Hope you're having an excellent meal creme happy birthday.
