Good idea. Or brandish it at your family and say "Top of the morning to you".

northender · 12/02/2017 23:05

Had a lovely breakfast with friends this morning and a short windy, cold walk. £20 & £5 parking. Fil paid for pub lunch which was lovely.

Tomorrow, dh & ds are going to play pitch & putt, dd & I will go swimming I think. Then another pub lunch and maybe a walk although weather forecast says sunny with gale force winds eek!

And maybe wear a bowler hat? I always imagine someone saying top of the morning ... would take a hat off as they say it.

I feel for maximum suaveness I need to somehow change the handle into a duck head. That's what all the best umbrellas have right? Although a compass in the handle sounds completely awesome.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2017 06:49

I spend my life doing laundry.
My grandfather had a number of sticks.i have fond memories of him leaning on one looking at cattle (farmer) wherever he was. Also he had a shepherd crook with the curved top.

ememem84 · 13/02/2017 06:54

I just almost threw up in the shower. Almost. SadSmile eugh. Happy Monday.

Today's should in theory be a nsd.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/02/2017 07:49

Hello all,

I s been off line most of the weekend, busy! Thanks for the birthday wishes, I had a lovely night on Friday (seabass in a lemongrass sauce, yum, and then a good karaoke session Wink) and then a lovely day again on Saturday with my sisters visiting. I took them out for brunch at a local Belgian cafe (DH and DS joined us for pastries - after we'd already had eggs benedict 🐷). It was quite spendy overall, I am trying not to think about it . Yesterday was an NSD but even so...

YES to always folding bloody laundry. It goes from tumble dryer to spare bed, where it lolls until I have a massive folding binge. Pairing bloody socks and folding t shirts... grrr. These jobs do take ages. DH is in the middle of the husband pack here - he does make himself useful with putting washing on, dishwasher, bins and washing up BUT he doesn't do any cooking or DIY. Simply useless at both. Nor cleaning (we had a cleaner till i stopped work, but I always did cleaning between the cleaner's visits anyway). I don't think he realises how much time that takes up and it annoys me that he doesn't appreciate it. And that even after I have cooked, and he has washed up, I will still need to wipe down the surfaces etc. Grrr!

We changed our duvet together last week (I recruited his help because our mattress is very heavy and I find it hard to get the fitted sheet on at the mo). He was completely inept, even matching his corner of the duvet outside the cover and then wondering why he couldn't pull the cover down over it. I was so full of rage, I couldn't even speak to him afterwards Angry

He has agreed to throw away his massive stash of old newspapers though. It's almost as tall as I am. if he hadn't married me he'd have been on a hoarder programme by his 60s

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2017 08:26

I'm always folding laundry too and I have a feeling it's going to get worse in the next few weeks! Actually I don't mind, I go upstairs all on my own and fold in peace and if DH does it he does it all wrong and I end up refolding it all anyway! I have quite high folding standards!!
Meal plan:
Macaroni cheese
Polenta which I bought about a year ago and so thought I should try and actually cook it with spicy tomato sauce.
Cauliflower and lentil curry
Pizza
Burgers (Jack Monroe kidney bean and carrot ones) with chips that we froze from the chippy a couple of weeks ago!
Spaghetti with Quorn, lemon and chilli
Toad in the hole
Broccoli cheese jackets
Pasta with pesto and leftover veggies from the week.

My dc were learning to fold clothes fri eve, yesterday however myself and dh did the mammoth folding session on dining room table before dinner, conveniently put there by me so that it'd need to be done before eating Hmm This was the build up with washing machine being out of order.

I'm thinking of doing two of this cardboard items for dc to help them fold their own clothes, novelty factor and all it'll take is a bit of time & duct tape.

Ipsomatic · 13/02/2017 10:38

Morning. Smile I'm knackered today. I also urgently need a three year old to visit and remind ds how undignified whining and tantrums are.

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2017 11:45

I've got one you can borrow, Ipso!

Ipsomatic · 13/02/2017 11:48

Thanks Snuggly. Smile

WreckTangled · 13/02/2017 12:00

Dropped the car off at nine and it won't be ready until one. It's going to be spendy as we have nowhere to go. Currently having lunch in bills. Have spoken to my new boss and she's getting HR to send everything out then I can hand my notice in.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 13/02/2017 12:19

The highlight of my night last night was paiting up 102 pairs of socks. I almost took a picture to put on here, then gave myself a talking to!

Yestersay I spent a whopping £1.75 on jingly bells for easter bunnies on ebay. Have spent £3 something in the coop on milk and croissants. cag do you live on coop pastries? I caertainly would if me or dp worked there!

Cagliostro · 13/02/2017 12:45

Ah, rough half term so far then Ipso?

Can't deny their croissants are pretty nice Knitting :o they don't do the nice chocolate ones though which saves me a fortune and calories

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2017 13:19

102 pairs of socks??? How many people do they belong to, Knitting?

Spent nearly £60 in Boots this morning on such treats as maternity pads! Decided I didn't buy enough last week and Boots has them 3 for 2.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 13/02/2017 13:47

Six. And my odd sock box is still wierdly full Hmm

WreckTangled · 13/02/2017 14:00

Right.

£70 cash for car
£175 card
£6 sainsburys
£59 lidl
£20 lunch
£9 poundland
£19 t k maxx.

Still got the dentist and swimming. Humph.

Ipsomatic · 13/02/2017 14:08

Not too bad Cag. Frustrated because things were going so well and we were even planning to attempt a proper trip to London (which was a bit fanciful, but an exciting thought). Then we got that stomach bug and everyone is tired and crabby and washed out, particularly me, which makes it harder to have a jolly and adventurous holiday.

Dh is doing a great job of entertaining ds, but ds is cutting two molars which are the size of buses just now, and it's not helping his temper.

On the plus side, the bird feeders are working well and the birds look very cheerful on it, so that's good.

How are you getting on?

WreckTangled · 13/02/2017 14:27

Our half term isn't until next week. Ipso dd has already cut her molars and we didn't even realise until we went to the dentist last 9 months ago Grin she's early with her teeth though as she's already lost nine or ten baby ones. I need to put the food shopping away but made the mistake of sitting down...

I want to go to London in half term with the dc. I haven't got any money though. The train would be £24, £7 for public transport probably, science museum and playground free and maybe £15 macdonalds? I might be able to do it if Dh pays Grin
