Happy birthday girlie!

ememem84 · 21/11/2016 13:05

Things to be happy about today so far:

  • Jaffa cakes on my desk this morning
  • satay noodles for lunch.

I got soaked walking the 100m from the car to work today. Eugh.

£3.36 on 400g of catfood for catface. Annoying as I've got 2kg on order from Amazon but didn't think to check how much I had left. £8.86 for 2kg on amazon. Much cheaper.

ememem84 · 21/11/2016 13:05

And girlie happy birthday!!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/11/2016 13:19

Happy birthday girlie
Sounds like a good plan all, not working is cheaper than you think with travel, clothes, childcare costs
Pleased today is better em

Left the floor fitters to it and taken dc swimming. £21 Inc new goggles for ds and £15 for lunch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/11/2016 16:20

£12 sainsburys on £52 of stuff in double up. Ummed over a shark hoover but didn't. £68 on groceries.

CremeEggThief · 21/11/2016 16:36

That's a good deal, Life. Must do mine tomorrow, as it's the last day for it.

Spends so far: £14 on my card for a gift for a friend's baby and £4.97 at the local shop. I've also done my Sainsburys online order for £50, to come tomorrow night. I still have a few things to get from the Co-op and I'll also have to pay my bus fare home, so I'll add these in later.

Meal plan, subject to change:
Today : omelette, rice and salad, after Pilates.
Tuesday : jackets with cheese and beans for me and cheese and pesto for DS.
Wednesday : macaroni cheese, from the freezer.
Thursday : bangers, mash, mixed veg and gravy.
Friday: veggie burgers and chips.
Saturday: pizza.
Sunday : Quorn roast with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, broccoli, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

Frugal win: I got 11 fish cakes in a packet of 10 GrinGrin

mammymammyIRL · 21/11/2016 17:10

It's the little things wreck isn't it Grin

I totted up our spends at the weekend Sad on joint account €1627.61 - mechanic, paint for dining room & sitting room, led lights for tree, train for under tree, ride on lawnmower, groceries, etc etc

Needastrongone · 21/11/2016 17:20

Ouch Mammy, you can join me and life on the non frugal bench, we will shift up, there's room for a little one Grin

Happy Birthday Girlie, you are a wee young thing!

I'm going to jump back in on payday, as this month is a frugal disaster.

Spends today was just petrol, which I will claim back.

mammymammyIRL · 21/11/2016 17:38

Thanks need here's a Brew
Get paid weekly so there's some saving grace in that, and a whole lot of big expenditure just came together. No credit card was used and that's majorly important. Dh wanted to withdraw money from his cc but I gave it to him out of joint cash I had leftover, I'm trying to train him that this is an extremely expensive way of purchasing something and that it would be better to pay in less into joint account and repay when he can than to withdraw cash from cc!

ememem84 · 21/11/2016 18:46

Third achievement. Discovered filters on snapchat. This is my favourite.

Took wrist support off. Felt like wrist was going to fall off. Oopsy.

Also talked with director about the airplane graveyard in Arizona today. And I saw pictures. They made me happy. Neat organised planes. Smile

lsd today.

Happy Birthday Girlie!

£30 on two track cycling experiences for Christmas. I can't believe it is December next week, and then I get to pick up DS1 from uni who I haven't seen since September and am really starting to miss him.

mammymammyIRL · 21/11/2016 18:57

Satay noodles sound yummy em

I had leftover 5 p's for lunch - this is an easy dish in our house - pesto, Parmesan, pasta, peppers, pepperoni & p'onion!! This used to be a regular fri night dinner in our house but we hadn't it in over a year we think Smile

ememem84 · 21/11/2016 19:01

mammy I love the sound of that.

When we were kids my dad used to make lasankfrigo (la cinq dans la frigo - five from the fridge) it was always...interesting. My favourite though was always right after Christmas. We used to get stuffing with everything!!!

Tonight's dinner - sweet potato potato and cheese rosti coleslaw and salad.

Im going to get back on Instagram and post pictures of things I'm grateful for i think. One a day.

mammymammyIRL · 21/11/2016 19:05

That sounds good too em

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/11/2016 19:37

Happy Birthday Girlie 🍰

£20 petrol
£6 vitamins
£4 roast potatoes but will be free on shopmium.

SnugglySnerd · 21/11/2016 19:38

Happy birthday, Em!

Hope everyone escaped the deluge today. Some parts of the roof at work started leaking!

NSD and I found a leftover double chocolate cookie from the weekend so I'm going to eat that and watch University Challenge.

CollieMonster · 21/11/2016 20:53

Happy bday girlie!

Sorry I went AWOL. Just had a really low week but have perked up a bit now. Smile life is a tricky customer!

Anyhooooo, hope everyone is well FlowersChocolate

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 21/11/2016 21:12

Hello everyone, thank you for all the birthday messages! Have had a lovely day and feel very loved Smile Got some lovely presents as well and been pleased as have liked everything so far! Also got some money which is always good, will put it towards my spa break in January.

So today met my friend for lunch and she treated me which was very nice of her, I paid some money in and am feeling pleased as my account has looked much better this month for some reason. I bought myself a new hairdryer that was half price for £25.

Took dd out for dinner and we had a really lovely time, my bday money paid for it so doesn't really count as spends! Have eaten so much today though, I look and feel about 6 months pregnant Blush

I had a weird email earlier, it said it was from iTunes and said that someone had bought a random album and my account was going to be charged £90 Shock the email contained a link to a payment cancellation form which wanted all my bank details Hmm at this point alarm bells started going off. Anyway I contacted Apple directly and they confirmed it was a scam Angry Feel pretty stupid for even following the link which asked for a password, am now thinking the scammers have my email and a password that I commonly use. Have changed my Amazon password jic but is there any others I should change? My email/ mn password is different as well. So annoying but think this must be quite a common one as can remember a colleague telling me something similar that happened to her recently. Grrr!

Tryingtosaveup · 21/11/2016 22:10

Good for you All. It's important to look after yourself. I thought you worked in a school and would get full pay for a few months....am I behind the times?
You too Em. Take things slowly. It sounds as if your DH is trying his best to understand and help.
Glad you had a good day out Wreck.
Cag, did you ever manage to sell the old Dungeons and Dragons stuff?
NSD....been driving most of the afternoon in terrible rain. Worst driving conditions for years.

ChristmasSeacow · 21/11/2016 22:55

Hi all, good to have Collie back and glad things are looking up Em.

I need to join various of you on the naughty step. DH and I went to Oxford for the weekend, just to meet up with some old friends. So hotel, 2xlunch out and 1x dinner. I can't face adding it all up. Was lovely to see friends we don't see often though. We do it once a year or so.

Need to pay the decorator tomorrow. With the roof repairs as well it has been a very spendy month. Ouch.

ChristmasSeacow · 21/11/2016 22:59

Oh, and I just spent £30 on some wall stickers for DS's room. I am replacing the babyish woodland stickers from the nursery days with some solar system stickers. Paid a bit more for a set of realistic looking planets which I think he will appreciate as he gets older.

DS has developed a fascination with my kitchen scales. I have given him his own tub of penne to manhandle but I fear for the scales, which are new and quite nice and which I rely upon to make a lot of cake . Might see if Father Christmas wants to bring him his own scales!

Tryingtosaveup · 21/11/2016 23:13

Christmas, any chance of a pic of the solar stickers. I would love to get some for DGS for Christmas.

Cagliostro · 22/11/2016 02:19

Loving Pirate Em :o arrrr

Don't beat yourself up Girlie these things are designed to be super sneaky and they prey on that instant "oh shit" feeling which cloud your judgement.

SeaCow I think Learning Resources and similar brands do some cool scales of various types, and weights to play with and stuff? Although that may hold no sway against your existing set :o I love wall stickers too.

Trying no we didn't yet, DH did email the photos to the guy he met at comicon but no reply so guess it wasn't up to scratch :) have a few other avenues to chase up but have sooo much to do at the moment with sorting the house out. I will prioritise selling some more toys as they are more likely to be picked up quickly (duplo etc)

WreckTangled · 22/11/2016 06:08

Yay collie's back!

Work today, also need bread from tesco and maybe ham for dd's packed lunch.

I've got ds' cold Xmas Angry

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and dh got me a lovely card, flowers and croissants. I didn't get him anything BlushGrin
