ememem84 · 30/11/2016 21:21

We've just watched the super vet. Catface was a bit worried by it. She meowed back at the cats.

Advent calendars for work bought.

Shakinstevensisbestxmassong · 30/11/2016 21:22

Hope it's ok if I join in!

Found out today I will be £2000 better off for the next year than anticipated so my first frugal win

Need to start doing some serious saving so after all your hints and tips as I want to start making more overpayments on the mortgage. Not easy to do with high childcare costs and also I like to buy nice things

WreckTangled · 30/11/2016 21:24

Em the super vet is filmed near here, my dad delivers the Christmas tree for their Christmas specials. He was on tv doing it last year Grin

8FencingWire · 30/11/2016 21:47

Welcome shaking and user!
Had a pig of a day, really really heavy. Soaked in the bath for ages and now I'm ok.
Awww, can't wait for tomorrow, advent calendars and candle and I can finally put some stuff up, make it all christmassy!!! Lovely!
NSD today :)

ememem84 · 30/11/2016 22:01

wreck wow!! You're practically famous!!

Tomorrow should be a nsd. Yay!!

And I have a half day on Friday. Only 14.5 days left at work this year. So happy. I like my job but it's been a rough few weeks. So busy.

BertieTodd · 30/11/2016 22:14

Thanks for all the welcomes.
V spendy day as we combined a
Hospital appointment with a pre Xmas day out/ day shopping; had a lovely day though.
€150 hospital consultant's fee
€2 parking
€20 jacket for DS (because he got carsick and I had a change of clothes for him but no extra jacket so had to buy one- frugal fail there)
€20 brunch
€52 new bra (I'm an awkward size so I have to buy expensive bras, haven't bought a new one in ages though.)
€8 food in M&S.
€35 Xmas present for DF
€40 M&S advent calendar (oops Blush)
€2 Diet Coke

WreckTangled · 01/12/2016 06:00

I know em!

Should be nsd as I have no money anyway. Must make something for lunch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/12/2016 06:12

Going Christmas shopping today after work so will be £££££££££££

Welcome more newbies

SnugglySnerd · 01/12/2016 06:34

Advent disaster - DH and I usually buy each other calendars but both forgot and we bought all the little gifts for DD's fabric calendar and both forgot to set it up last night. Awful parents. Luckily she is only 2 so won't realise!
Anyway, happy December everyone!

WreckTangled · 01/12/2016 07:54

-7 here again. Brrrr

CollieMonster · 01/12/2016 08:01

We have 2 paper advent Calender's for DS (who is 3) as he can't have chocolate. He is thrilled with them both! And we also have an activity advent calendar so there's something Christmassy to do everyday Inc reading Christmas stories, making decorations, singing Carols and seeing reindeer & Christmas lights. Grin

Happy December, everyone!

allthebestplease · 01/12/2016 08:12

wreck love the display. Happy 1st of the month everyone.

Mummyreindeerlegz · 01/12/2016 09:40

Collie that sounds lovely! I made a fabric one for Wilf and put haribo in it as he can't have chocolate.

Marvellous Frugaleers - Chatting and saving through November, and into December.
SnugglySnerd · 01/12/2016 11:01

It turned out well forgetting to buy advent calendars - they are all reduced today so DH got a much posher one than usual!
Also bought 5 frames for the grandparents/great grandparents. Have a lovely photo of DD to put in them. I shopped around for frames, eventually got them from Next. They were less than half the price of Boots and even TK Maxx. I was quite surprised but pleased!

Needastrongone · 01/12/2016 11:05

Next do beautiful frames Snuggly.

Lovely calendar Mummy.

Spends today will be just the supermarket delivery.

Taytocrisps · 01/12/2016 11:12

I love all the advent calendar posts. DD was very excited about opening hers (a basic Cadburys one). For an almost 12 year old, she still gets very excited about anything Christmassy.

Mummy very impressed with your home made one.

northender · 01/12/2016 11:13

Bad mother here too as there are no advent calendars here. Dc are 15 & 12 though! Will see what I can do today.
Have been making more Christmas bunting flags this morning in among housework. The building inspector has been and the loft will get it's building control certificate very soon, yaaay! It has been a manic few months since I came home from hospital but really has been worth it. Ds is loving his "den" and when dh's parents were here last weekend it was great having it as a spare room. The only expense still to come is a desk for ds but I'm going to look at a big charity furniture warehouse tomorrow.

SnugglySnerd · 01/12/2016 12:37

Frugal win! Just got a £45 refund for a service I complained about. That should just about cover parking at the hospital this afternoon Grin

CremeEggThief · 01/12/2016 14:50

Just been for lunch with my friend for her birthday, so stuffed now. I think I spent about £12 in total.

Cagliostro · 01/12/2016 15:00

Stuck in town as no chance to get home before St. John's. Determined not to let it be an excuse to spend money!

Got two piano pupils later as well.

Talking to a friend about advent calendars earlier - she does a little clue every day so the kids have to find the chocolate. Think I may adopt that next year. She's even going to write some in French as they've been learning it! Sounds similar to the egg hunt we do at Easter with clues based on stuff they've been learning 😁

Needastrongone · 01/12/2016 15:46

Further spends of

£12 Amazon, car air freshener, and coat hangers.
£5 Boxercise.

WreckTangled · 01/12/2016 16:06

Nsd.

Happy December everyone! Love the home made advent calendar for Wilf!

There's so many fun Christmas things going on over the next few weeks and we can't make all of them, I feel like I'm missing out! Xmas Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/12/2016 17:32

shaking Welcome & well done on the £2000. Try doing valued opinion surveys, they pay out in various vouchers including John Lewis.

I am marrying supervet if it doesn't work out with Dh. I'm an ideal candidate. Very self sufficient & low maintenance. Plus I would accept "I was saving a sick animal" as an excuse for missing any pre planned event. Not that I've given it any thought.

All your houses look so festive, I do a Christmas tree & a vase filled with baubles. That's it. There's an acrylic stag in JL I have my eye on but at £20 he might not make the cut.

£6 top up shop.

£10 petrol.

The imitation sandstone windowsills look like new on 15p of bleach, I was going to use patio cleaner on them so that's £10 saved.

Free mr Kipling mince pies on clicksnap.

WreckTangled · 01/12/2016 18:25

Fluffy wait until after Christmas when he will be half price Xmas Smile
