Still no word of Italian? I hope she's ok, should think the baby's been born by now. Hope you are all ok, Italian if you are reading!

Cagliostro · 30/11/2016 16:28

Yes I hope Italian is just too busy enjoying baby snuggles to get online! Thanks

Cagliostro · 30/11/2016 16:30

Hoped to have the little bag of Lebkuchen I got with the Tesco delivery to myself. But the Caglets love them. Dammit.

Needastrongone · 30/11/2016 16:46

Welcome User.

Glad you are feeling better Collie.

Sorry about the sciatica Snuggly, bloody painful I understand.

Love the cat photo Wrecked.

Spends.
£20 Aldi.
£25 on a sparkly hat

ememem84 · 30/11/2016 17:37

cag oh I love lebkuchen. I'd happily fight people for them. And I'm not fighty usually.

collie feel better soooooonnnn

Welcome user agree. Take lunch to work. Aim for three times a week. It easily saves us £50 a week. What helped me was adding up how much I'd spent on lunch/take away coffee/parking. don't read my above post re make up

Ridiculous to see how much is just frittered away on "stuff"

As of 2017 I am being a frugal. No spend January except for essentials. I have enough "stuff" clutter drives me crazy and makes me stressed and anxious. Not happy.

Freezing her today. Sat in the car waiting for dh. Ear muffs on. Ugg boots (and lovely black smart work dress). Gloves and heating on.

Brrrr

ememem84 · 30/11/2016 17:37

Have also been feeling a bit off today. Bloated and eugh. Damm you not being on the pill period dramas. Ah.

SnugglySnerd · 30/11/2016 17:51

Enjoy the lebkuchen, I got some from Aldi last week, they lasted about 10 mins. Unfortunately DD discovered them!

WreckTangled · 30/11/2016 18:05

-4 outside already!

Cagliostro · 30/11/2016 18:11

I am not looking forward to collecting DD from Brownies. Brrrr.

However DH found out today that they might change his Wednesday shift which by awesome coincidence would mean I DON'T have to do Brownies collection! And this has the knock on effect of, as well as being less tiring for me, saving a few quid too on bus fare. Hurrah. :)

ChristmasSeacow · 30/11/2016 19:09

It is bleddy cold. I just fetched DS from nursery - it's a 10-15 min walk each way and I was not feeling the love tonight. Also not feeling my hands as I am not sure where my gloves are.

Had the nursery meeting this morning and the professionals all think DS is making a lot of good progress at the moment (basically from the time I stopped work and he also got a 1:1 helper in nursery his speech has improved exponentially). That is nice to hear but makes me feel pretty guilty about all the wasted time before when he languished in nursery for 50 hrs per week with very little 1:1 attention Sad.

After the nursery meeting I went to buy a real Christmas tree - I just love them! We'll put it up at the weekend, it will be find in the garage till then. I also bought some coloured lights for a big bush by our front door - for DS's benefit really or so I pretend as he loves all the lights outside. £52. Naughty. But I resisted all the baubles and other Christmas tat that we don't need.

I have found a couple of holes in a cashmere sweater, and found s few in a cardigan last week. Think we have clothes moths Angry

Sorry about the sciatica Snuggly that sucks. When are the babies due?

CremeEggThief · 30/11/2016 19:16

Just for once, you Southerners have it worse than us in the North. It was -3° here Monday night, but no frost last night and a rather respectable 7° now.

Glad you're feeling a bit better, Collie. Hope it continues. I felt rough, with a sore throat , ear ache, temperature and aches on Sunday and Monday, but touch wood, have been okay since yesterday.

Spends: £9.70 travel to work, £1 milk and 69 p on a toffee doughnut. Yum!

Out for a Christmas lunch deal at a foodie pub with my friend tomorrow, so looking forward to thatSmile. Fusilli with mixed chilli beans and grated cheese tonight.

user1471468180 · 30/11/2016 19:20

Thanks guys! Back at work Saturday. Will force myself to make lunch and leave any spare change at home so can't be tempted by vending machine!

Haha and my make up collection is pretty immense, however I don't spend so much anymore...but that's because I got a horse...so don't think that's a good idea! (I know I know, but he is an essential money pit)

Keep warm! I need to stop looking a coats (I have hundreds) and Remembered to put my Lidl thermal screen on tonight. Hope it pays off in the morning!

P.s. How do I get a nice name not usernumbers?

Wildernesstips · 30/11/2016 19:22

NSD for me, which is a welcome change.

Meal planning and taking own lunches was the start of my frugal journey user. Also, little by little trying to save on everything, for example, I love reading and discovered the free library Ebooks and audio books app, so I rarely buy books these days.

December tomorrow!!!!

CremeEggThief · 30/11/2016 19:28

Welcome User.Good idea to change name, as lots of Mnetters get really annoyed by the user name phenomenon. We're all easy going on this thread, but others aren't quite as friendly! If you go on to the site stuff section, it'll tell you how to go about it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/11/2016 19:31

user click on my mumsnet at the top, then account, then delete your number and put a nickname in.

£9 fish and chips.

I cleaned all the outside windowsill stones with bleach to get the algae off. They look lovely. Cost 15p in bleach.

user1471468180 · 30/11/2016 19:34

Thanks guys! Free book app sounds good.

Staring spending diary tomorrow. Will keep you all updated and thanks for all the tips

Mummyreindeerlegz · 30/11/2016 19:42

£15 on an additional controller for dh's nes for Christmas.

Posted some things on behalf of a group and was refunded the costs so that's some money back in my account.

Waitrose have sent me a £7 off a £35 shop to use up until Christmas Eve. I can't decide whether to use it or stick with Aldi. I have no idea if it would work out cheaper to use it and get some Christmas bits in.

SnugglySnerd · 30/11/2016 19:47

That's funny, mummy, I got a Waitrose voucher for £8 off a £40 spend!
Not due until the spring, Christmas. Looking after toddler DD is not helping my back at the moment.

ememem84 · 30/11/2016 19:49

mummy I'd use it for Christmas treats.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/11/2016 19:54

Welcome user.

Cagliostro · 30/11/2016 20:07

Welcome User I look forward to seeing your new name :o I missed the whole usernumber thing, I don't really understand it all.

Mummy I think I heard that Waitrose price match some branded products so you could get stuff there if there are particular things you'd be buying elsewhere anyway? Is Ocado delivery basically the same as Waitrose, maybe you could look on there and write a list?

Tryingtosaveup · 30/11/2016 20:11

Welcome User! This is a very friendly, non judgemental thread. With cats!
Love the window lights.
Oh, Cag, so sorry. You must keep fighting. Do it for the Caglets if you can't do it for yourself. I am sure a report from the paediatrician will help. Don't forget to ask for one.
Sorry you fell rotten Collie, you've not had much luck recently gave you?
And Christmas, wonderful news about little Christmas ( we should call him Xmas)
What's Lebkuchen? Is it posh chocolate?
Spendy day today. I have a friend who is quite poor ( well really poor) so every Christmas I give her a hamper. So I got a lot of stuff for it today. I will get more stuff in the next few days.
Thank you for all the good wishes. My bathroom has been ripped out completely and I can see where it has been leaking. Still the leak has stopped.
I was going out at today at 10am and it was -5 degrees. At 10am!
Em, and Cath I too have a collection....of stamps. Not many stamp collectors around anymore I think.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/11/2016 20:25

Hi all, welcome user if you go to 'mymumsnet' at the top right its fairly straight forward to change your username. Def take pack lunches, once you get into the habit it becomes second nature.

Poor you Collie Sad that sounds miserable, hope you are on the mend now Flowers

It has been freezing here today, started off at minus 4 and it hasn't defrosted outside all day!

Have managed a NSD I think.

Had a phonecall to say that Redrow are sending a plumber round to look at the heating next week - yay!

WreckTangled · 30/11/2016 20:30

I got a waitrose voucher book and put it in the bin to avoid spending unnecessarily truth is I just can't control myself in waitrose

I've just put all of our Christmas bits out for when the dc get up in the morning, I've got some sparkly cotton wool roll stuff coming in the post to look like fake snow for my village.

Marvellous Frugaleers - Chatting and saving through November, and into December.
CollieMonster · 30/11/2016 20:56

Thanks all! I am getting there now. I blame our Estate Agent for the virus!!

December is a crap month for finances for us. We have to pay for cat vaccinations, cattery, Christmas and the car service. The 4 C's. Grin
