Hi everyone, can I join please? I've been lurking for aaaaaaages Blush - I fell off MN when it was hacked because I felt a bit exposed, and I haven't logged in since. I've been lurking on this thread to motivate my semi- frugal self though Smile.

Ipsos · 26/02/2016 22:09

Welcome Space. I know what mean about the hacking. It makes me nervous too as this group is so great for discussing all the nitty gritty stuff of life, but then if we all got outed en masse, then that would be awkward.

Maybe the others will have good ideas about where to draw the line on self-disclosure? I'm still unsure.

Welcome Space

Green A friend of a colleague never worked until her PhD was awarded, then she earnt £800 a day doing health and safety protocols for companies on a free lance basis. Her degrees were all in environmental sciences and her friends thought it was a woolly subject Grin

SpaceKablooie · 26/02/2016 22:28

Thanks Ipsos and Fluffy Smile.

Has anyone switched current accounts? I'm considering it, but I feel worried about something going wrong.

AdoraBell · 26/02/2016 22:39

NSD. ILs are down for the weekend. I'll catch up in a few days.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 26/02/2016 23:27

Been stupid tired all day as ds made it until 0330 before waking up. He was so good though, just had some food and stayed in bed, but he cosleeps (still), so dp and I were up too. Had a bit of a meltdown at tea as I am sick of not getting help with the dishes, even after asking a lot. So I had a tantrum, and went for a nap like a toddler. Came back down to find the kitchen clean for once!

Lsd, had to take the dd's bulbs back to b&q as I got the ones with pins not nobbles, they were £4 cheaper, but got some plugs (big dog bites plugs off anything he can, yes, hes had an op to remove a blockage once before), and some no more nails to fix some things, so about £6 extra after refund.

Lovely boots girlie. I have worn purple fly ones very like them all winter. Love red shoes. Won't wear black. Our branto is almost empty now, just wierd wellies and old lady shoes left!

WreckTangled · 27/02/2016 07:02

Food shopping today. Might pop into sainsburys for their 25% off.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/02/2016 07:22

Space I change whenever a good switching deal comes out. I'm running out of banks to switch to.

Yorkshire were offering £150 to switch this week or last.

Knitting One day when you have more money we need to find you a dishwasher. Washing up is expensive and time consuming.

colliepirate · 27/02/2016 07:34

LSD. Need cat litter and a few bits from The Range.

Welcome newbies.

babsmam · 27/02/2016 08:22

Wreck the 25% off clothes has finished but the sale is OK.
Skatepark fees today £7. Need Sunday meat from the butcher. Need to take DD school shoe shopping

needastrongone · 27/02/2016 08:54

Hi Space. Re changing banks, we did this a few years ago, to M&S, although I didn't completely close down our Lloyds one. It was smooth as can be, a very easy process.

knitting I quite regularly have a meltdown, it works for a few weeks then I need to have another Smile

Ipsos One of my NYR was 2 things a months sold on Ebay (or at least listed I suppose). I thought that was manageable from a time point of view, so I didn't feel a failure if I set a high target and didn't list that much stuff.

Spends today will be £7 riding lesson. £10 for a quiz night tonight, run by the Explorers.

babsmam · 27/02/2016 09:11

Nectar double up from 30 mar to 5 April

babsmam · 27/02/2016 09:13

That's in sainsburys BTW sorry missed that bit off

WreckTangled · 27/02/2016 10:15

Thanks babs. I spent loads in sainsburys but I always do Hmm

Lidl £61 I got loads so I was expecting it to be more.

Then £51 in sainsburys but I got dd a skirt, jeans and pjs (she goes through jeans etc so fast as she casks over so much), ds pjs, me knickers and dh socks most of it half price. Then had to top up with stuff I couldn't get in lidl which was only £16.85 of the total so not bad as that included shampoo and razors for dh.

Morning all! Sun is shining today so for once it looks as though I can go for a ride without a waterproof coat!!! Yippee!!

Lovely evening last night. Drinks after work with the family and then dinner as local Sri Lankan place we love. Dm &add had always decided it was "dirty and disgusting" dh and I love it. Foods delicious. Staff are friendly. And food is delicious and relatively cheap

Had 8 different curries between the 6 of us roti breads coconut chilli salad and other dippys two bottles of wine all for £120. So great value.

Off for my ride today then to help dm pack up the car for their trip. News says that the boat appears to be stuck in Portsmouth at present. It docked at 730. And the ramp/door is broken. So people can't get off. Delaying its return to the island. Parents were supposed to be leaving at 9 tonight arriving at 7 tomorrow morning in Portsmouth. Doubt this will happen now.

Am out tonight with friends. We have limited our spends to £30 each on drinks/food. So have done some research. And found somewhere which is currently doing a bottle of prosecco and a sharing tapas platter for £25. So we're starting there...

Re banks and switching. I'm sure I read somewhere yesterday at work (while doing due diligence on a client) that m&s bank are owned by Hsbc...

Hello all, spendy morning here....

£2.70 parking
£8 on getting the car washed, tbf the car was disgusting and it was getting desperate!
£3.50 ish on sandwich for dd and I
£38 in Argos, got a new bin for our new bathroom as well as a new remote for the telly (current one is falling apart and barely works) and some stacking baskets - not sure about these thinking they may go back.
£15 hair cut for dd, looks lovely (very grown up )
£8 to dd for a toy and another crystal mining kit - she has promised faithfully to pay me back Hmm

Plan for the afternoon is to tidy the inside of the car up a
bit, may even attempt to hoover it out. Otherwise will be a quiet one.

Welcome newbies Smile

Just submitted meter readings. Used £14 in gas and electricity last week. Smile

Spent £2.99 in The Range.
