Oh dear just spent £40 on Amazon, mostly on stocking fillers but also got my brother the monty python box set for £9.99 which I am hoping he will like (and hasn't got already!) and the cream that Fluffy recommended a couple of pages back!

fuzzpig · 22/11/2015 23:52

It's so very easily done Girly. Bloody Amazon! :o

I was feeling quite pleased with myself, having kept my spreadsheet up to date for the first time, but now the big day is drawing near the total is suddenly escalating! We aren't doing a big item this year, but I keep seeing smaller things that they'll love and get lots of use out of, and oh heck I just love choosing things for them. 'Tis but once a year. Well twice if you count birthdays although that's much more restrained.

I accidentally saw DH's inbox (he didn't log out, so I'm blaming him!) and the top email mentioned something Monty Python related had been sent! So I sort of know my birthday present now, oops.

My camera is now working, so tomorrow I'll be listing a few random bits and pieces on facebook - not done it before but hoping I'll get a few quid.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/11/2015 03:28

I'm up feeling really unwell think I'll have to cave and see a dr tomorrow really hate trying to phone on a Monday though!

ipsos · 23/11/2015 05:30

Luxy I love you £1 a week savings. That's brilliant.

Collie your Gran sounds like a fine sensible person. I do think that expectations are wildly at odds with reality these days. Our grandparents seemed to have so much less and still managed. Somehow everyone these days is expected to fit in University and kids and also have all sorts of possessions that aren't really needed.

lilacclery · 23/11/2015 06:12

Place marking

All those new to slow cookers they're amazing, even if you're at home during the day it's like someone else cooked as its been so long since you prepped!
I haven't done dump bags yet but I plan to spend a half day at Christmas doing this & if it's a success will do it once a month from then on.
I need to post my spends from sat, I came home with cash in my wallet so I'm pleased with that.
Yesterday was a nsd I've a cold & a touch of laryingitis so after seeing dd off to a birthday party(present purchased months ago in Argos 3 for 2) I went to bed with ds for his nap & slept for 3 hours. We also went for a walk & splashed in puddles plus dinner was a casserole made using leftover roast beef & using up veg in veg drawer - carrots, turnip, sweet potato, onion with a bottle of beer and one stock pot mixed in, tasted amazing & will do my lunch today also.

lilacclery · 23/11/2015 06:15

Taking ds to doctor today, we've free gp care under 6 in Ireland though. He has loose stools for 4 weeks now & we did everything doctor advised two weeks ago but there's no improvement. Hasn't affected his mood or weight or energy levels but it smells putrid. Got a sample yesterday too.

spotty hope you feel better soon, sometimes we need the doctor
luxy any savings no matter how small are worth it.

ipsos · 23/11/2015 06:39

Lilac we have one like that here too (mentioning no names). I wonder if it's a virus?

ipsos · 23/11/2015 06:42

Today will be a wallpaper stripping and skirting board painting day for me. It's cold outside and we've taken the radiator off the wall in the hallway, so getting the paint to dry may be interesting. Quite looking forward to it though.

babsmam · 23/11/2015 06:48

Lux £1 a week is great and soon add up.
Spotty go to the doctor. Sometimes as pp said we need to stop soldering on and go.
Lilac hope ds is OK and you get sorted.
I have a skincare appointment for a mole patrol. Fair skin loads of freckles and moles.
On a MLP hunt after that. Will try sainsbury first and use the last of my nectar points. Or drive to toys r us

lilacclery · 23/11/2015 07:08

Cuz and her bf yesterday were suggesting a food intolerance has developed so who knows.
Au pair frustrated me yesterday as I've told her he's not to have any fruit except bananas no dairy no juice and I found her giving him grapes. Only for the fact she was away last week I would be suspecting he'd been getting these 'banned foods'

Dh said dd had a bit of it last night.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/11/2015 07:08

Hmm well my temperature is unusually low this morning not sure what to do.

Today should be a nsd not sure what to do with the left over gammon for dinner, it was really nice and both dc liked it too.

lilacclery · 23/11/2015 07:11

ipsos has it been going on long?

pink are you still reading? Miss the Irish connection

Stuffed joint of pork gone into sc on a bed of onions with a stock pot. I took leftover stew for dinner at lunchtime as won't be having pork due to stuffing. Being the only one wheat free can be a pain
Oh ipsos that 2.5lbs has found its way back on again over last two weeks.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2015 07:19

Roasting bags could be used for dumpbags because they are safe to cook in so you could just put everything in incl stock etc and leave it in the cooker during the day from frozen.

Has he had a penicllin based antibiotic recently lilac? some of them strip the bowel of commensal bacteria and you need them to digest food properly. Probiotic tablets, not milks or yogurts, are good for re-introducing them.

But see the gp anyway because he's only 6. Bananas and oats are good pre biotics for the bowel. They help the bacteria to grow apparently.

NK5BM3 · 23/11/2015 07:35

I'm home! And it's freezing! Omg. Too cold. Will catch up soon. Happy week ahead folks!

Collieputthekettleon · 23/11/2015 07:44

So we need to try for a No Spend Week. (Apart from prescriptions) This is going to be such hard work but a good challenge. Tis a week until payday.

ipsos · 23/11/2015 08:01

Lilac Sorry - too much information here but - yes we had foul smelling soft stools, then watery diahorrea for about 5 days, then foul smelling playdoh stools, with the whole thing lasting 5 weeks+ now. I just made a gp appointment too. Sorry for the TMI.

Sorry also to hear the 2.5lbs is back. Oh well. How are you on calorie counting? That always sorts me out a treat.

Swampmonster39 · 23/11/2015 09:11

Pardon me for asking, but what on earth is a dump bag?

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2015 09:17

It's a plastic bag filled with all the ingredients for a stew/casserole/curry etc that you can just open up and pop into the slow cooker.

Asda are charging quite a lot for theirs but you can make them at home with freezer bags.

babsmam · 23/11/2015 10:15

Interesting fact about the sainsbury double up its per transaction. I have just redeemed another £10 into twenty on toys which over the course of the promotion I have redeemed more than the £20.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/11/2015 11:39

Chest and ear infection so got antibiotics. Feeling very sorry for myself Xmas Grin

Collieputthekettleon · 23/11/2015 12:21

That's good to know babs I didn't know that. Blush might pop in later to get some gifts for my mum and dad.

spotty get well soon! This season has been a bugger for colds, coughs, flu etc. I've never known it to be so bad. Sad its relentless.

ipsos · 23/11/2015 12:42

Sorry to hear that Spotty. Collie do you think so too? I've been going from one virus to the next continuously since the start of September. I'd be quite relieved to hear that I'm not the only one.

babsmam · 23/11/2015 13:06

Me neither collie until I wanted some more toys for dd and I asked
Spotty no wonder you were struggling.

It's been hell so far this autumn for bugs.

Pricing up plumbers, God I hate ringing round

ipsos · 23/11/2015 13:11

Our weather has just turned sunny again. I'm hoping that that might help.

Collieputthekettleon · 23/11/2015 13:14

I'm extremely anxious about my doctors appointment later. It's times like this I can easily frittle and spend loads of money to make myself feel "better". BlushBlush
