Hmm I think I worded that wrong ipsos. We've decided we have more important things to spend money on would have been a better way of saying it plus I would have to use the joint account for dh as I've spent all my money on the dc Xmas Grin

I will get lots from my massive family anyway my sisters and I are the only 'children' in the family (all three of my parents siblings never had dc) so you can imagine how 'spoilt' we were!

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/11/2015 18:50

We've bought our own presents in the past. It's no big deal.

We didn't do Xmas presents for a while, it didnt damage the relationship. I like practical presents (dh is fixing my ipad for me for xmas) but he likes whimsical ones. I've bought him a bottle of malt whisky that's 21 years old. I will try not to drink too much of of it. Really, I will try very hard.

ipsos I think that's awful to pressure small children like that, poor little boy doesn't need that kind of stress.

Spotty You went to work with two infections? I take it you don't get sick pay?. You must feel flipping awful. I had 9 days off when I had my ear/throat combo infection.

NSD and my new free slow cooker is waiting for collection at tescos but I wont collect it until tomorrow because you can have too much excitement in one day.

I need a gas fire for the lounge. It is bloody polar in there. Dh is on the bed while I cook. He's looking at ones that look like stoves but wont actually let me have a multi fuel stove due to dust.

I probably should have mentioned this before he built our fireplace Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 24/11/2015 19:00

I do get sick pay but I hate taking time off work Blush I think it was an easier day than being stuck in with ds Hmm I'll be going to bed shortly though!

NK5BM3 · 24/11/2015 19:05

pointless just saw your post about the accident. Hope she feels better soon and you less traumatised!

ipsos house points... I think it's difficult to earn them. Sympathies. And a lot of the time, the naughty ones get it for doing one thing good, whereas the other well behaved ones end up having to do it 10x before they are noticed.

Several NSDs.

AdoraBell · 24/11/2015 19:06

We're the other way round Fluffy and DH can't quite grasp why I'm not thrilled with a sleeping bag/hold all etc.

Cheap dinner tonight, I couldn't decide what I wanted so looked on Penny's Recipes and found a black bean stew, it was very nice. Her recipe calls for black turtle beans but I had plain old black beans in the cupboard so used those.

DDs are snuggled up under their duvets, they are not accustomed to cold indoors. I'm sitting next the radiator but there's a healthy breeze coming through patio doors at the other end of the roomHmm

fuzzpig · 24/11/2015 19:13

I feel bad for going on about my birthday money now sorry Blush

Another weird thing. Decided to return the little mini puzzle to Amazon that arrived today - it's DD's favourite painting but the jigsaw is pretty shoddy. So I clicked on return, went through it and stuff and it just said 'we are processing your refund. you don't need to return the item!' erm... what?! Is that just because it was cheap (£3)?

Collieputthekettleon · 24/11/2015 19:15

DH got diagnosed with pleurisy amongst other things. Hes in a right state. So we spent roughly £16 on prescriptions and meds in Sainsburys. And blueberries. Blueberries make everything better.

Pah!

I used to work in primary school and stressed infants were pretty common. It was horrible. It was one of the reasons why I left my job.

Collieputthekettleon · 24/11/2015 19:17

One of my favourite things is a polka dot veg peeler Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 24/11/2015 19:21

Oh don't fuzz! You deserve to treat yourself

fuzzpig · 24/11/2015 19:25

Thanks Spotty

Collie yikes! Poor DH. Agree about blueberries. Superfood :o

Pointlessfan · 24/11/2015 19:37

Thanks NK.
The thing is that if it replace the peeler/garlic press etc I'll buy cheap ones which will be crap but if there are a Xmas gift I end up with better quality ones!
DH and I always write lists for xmas/birthdays and then usually get each other a little treat as a surprise too eg. Chocolates or nice beers. I always think it seems a bit odd buying each other presents when we have a joint account!

AdoraBell · 24/11/2015 19:44

Hope the meds work fast Collie, along with the immune system boosting blueberries Grin

Whatabout · 24/11/2015 20:03

I really appreciate nice kitchen things and love the idea of giving some to myself wrapped up! I'd need to sort out what I have first though.

Ipsos the photography business sounds like a great use of the money you're given. I'd love to be a photographer but I just don't think I have the eye for it. Being Able to take nice photos of my family would be so nice.

DH went to London today, he informs me he spent 80p on porridge and £1.39 on a sandwich and then train fair. Very pleased with that. I bought and cancelled something this morning. I have spent £10.60 replacing a mug of DH's that I dropped. He asked me to and as I bought it for him I was happy to replace it as it was valued by him. Yesterday I ordered a pair of sales from Amazon in the flash sale. I'm hoping they fit as they look lovely. This will be the third pair I have bought this year. The first two didn't fit and went back.

lilacclery · 24/11/2015 20:15

need last year& all previous years we were able to get half our bonus In vouchers & rest through our wages. Government decided this year it can all be tax free! Our company does everything above board.

Expecting tesco delivery soon €126 & spent €26 in butchers. The shop included some extra treats as this Friday night is Late Late Toy Show night so start of Christmas really in our house!

SpottyTeacakes · 24/11/2015 20:26

Eugh friend req a school mum on fb and she's declined Blush how embarrassing. Is it reasonable to move dd to a different school because of this? Sad also put on the fb page that my dd has her dd's reading diary and does she have ours she's seen in but not responded

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/11/2015 20:42

Nice woman then Hmm

We all like you Smile

Whatabout · 24/11/2015 20:57

Oh Spotty, she is missing out. Maybe she has a rule about not accepting friend requests from certain groups? I didn't want to accept my little sister but had to. She's a teenager and I just didn't fancy having her commenting on things and reporting me to mum! And maybe she's seen the reading diary and gone off to look and not managed to come back yet. It would make me feel a bit low if this happened to me, well done for reaching out, I hope it doesn't stop you in future.

Girlfriend36 · 24/11/2015 21:02

Spotty don't worry about it, she is obviously a weirdo that you wouldn't want to be friends with anyway Wink I had something similar with a work colleague, thought we were pretty pally but she never accepted my fb friend request Blush hey ho can't win em all.

We seem to have filled up another thread!

Ememem84 · 24/11/2015 21:21

fuzz I bet your fish finger sammy was well nicer than mine.

Still. Needs must. I was in a rush. Must learn to take more care.

£1.78 in sewing class. On new thread.

My project is almost finished. So close. I want to post a picture but it's a very distinctive project so am afraid it'll out me. Plus. One of you might be my mum and it's a gift for her for Christmas.

it's awesome though

Off work now until Friday afternoon. Getting nails done tomorrow in preparation for exam on Friday morning. Cut down shaped and more gels. Glitter french polish this time. Yippee.

needastrongone · 24/11/2015 21:34

Meh, spotty, don't worry, not worth your time.

lila I stand corrected, you have given me an idea.

Been at a 6th form open evening which was interesting and very useful. So proud of my DC, making mature and adult choices, based on their strengths.

I wouldn't enjoy a kitchen gadget, but any form of recipe book would be joyous for me. I have just got 2 Mary Berry ones, she's my favourite at present, but it changes!

Morrocan lamb was amazing.

Girlfriend36 · 24/11/2015 22:09

Damn the internet have just spent £16 on another pair of very similar trousers for dd, was 30% off and free p&p and just spent another £20 on Amazon on Christmas presents for my parents.

Oh well, pay day Friday Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 25/11/2015 06:19

Thanks everyone Blush my anxiety goes into overdrive at night I feel fine this morning

Today will be spendy as tomorrow is ds's birthday so I'm going to sainsburys to get him a cake and some lunch bits for my friend and her dd tomorrow. Not sure what to get, thinking mini bread sticks and houmous, carrot sticks, nice bread and raspberries or something. Don't want to spend too much but always end up spending a fortune in sainsburys! Also have a ton of washing etc to do as where I've been ill I haven't done anything.

babsmam · 25/11/2015 06:52

If she hasn't friended you (?) on FB she might not have seen the message as it goes into an 'others' folder. Has happened to me a couple of times. - spotty. I'm sure it's innocent enough and if she's an arse it's her loss!

Nsd planned today
